ok..im a newbie here. I have a 911 but a friend of mine has been dabbling with 914s for years. Im tempted to buy a 914 for restoration one day. Unfortunately, i cant leave a car stock and I am looking for tasteful body mods. So far, this is the best looking mix of old, new and aftermarket I have found.

Does anyone have any other examples of body mods, links or pics?
Thanks,
Steve

The link you posted is just a GT flared all black car... ABC914 is a work of immortality.

how the heck did he get the wheels under there!!!??? more info on that car please
the only really tasteful mods are nicely done flares, nice rims, and some subtle things... not big on body-kits... most don't turn out without a really pro install..
It's all metal, sectioned in.
The technique can be viewed at http://www.tangerineracing.com/Flares.htm

Had to do it..
Each owner has their own favorites, my 2 cents:
GT Fender flares
Rear spoiler - several styles to choose from
Rear valence (lower)
Front bumper, dam - several styles to choose from
Greg
Those rims look like spinners
ok...
now this is a rear flare )
anybody know who was the craftsman that pulled this one off?
This thread really opened my eyes abit.

its amazing how much you can change the attitude of the 914 with subtle changes like flares, rockers and what not.
I would have never thought it possible to get 17" Fiskes under a 914 until now...
That black car is the car that I tried to model my subtle flares after (though I think my body guy was a little more subtle than I had intended). Here's 8" wide Fuchs with 225/45-15 tires squeezed under there.

sorry for the too large picture...how do you go back and edit??
The louvers in the rockers look kinda cool....do they serve any function?

No real function- just a styling excerise for a mid engine. Someone on this board asked me one time if it was to "cool my longs"!!...
Looks like rear fender flares are the "tasteful body mod" preferred by most.
But if everybody has them, then are they truly a unique modification ?
Aw, whocares !! I love 'em !!
here's a tasteful body mod...

here's a not so tasteful body mod...

Seriously... the first car you pulled up looks nice. I'm a GT fan for the traditional stuff and a John fan for a more modern look. I still think a chop top car with Johns flares and a MassIVe in it would be a real head (and tire) turner.
