Hey when did you take that picture of my car?
Paul
What is interesting from cutting the car up like this is one can see how poorly a lot of the sheetmetal spot welding is. I'm a big believer now on adding a few new welds here and there
Brad, is that the 914/6 tub after you had it acid dipped??
Geoff
Those pics are soooo cool! Is the white mass in the front shock tower pic body putty?
The yellow car (w/red accents) does look fast
cool... tub cadavers dedicated to the study of 914's.
he can go faster in it without shoes on!
Mikey, whatcha doin'??
Who's tub is/was that?
I think that is the black tub left overs John Boy.
B
That was fun. Allthough I didn't do anything but watch you guys work.
I still learned a lot. I brought the burgers!.
I had no idea the rear supension points were so thick. Seemed like half-hour with the plasma cutter untill it was cut off.
Pat
Got any pics of where the lower rear firewall meets the floor pan? Specifically on the passenger side? I have a speed hole there that I will need to take care of soon
Tony
Jon,
This was my first 914 (free to me, had a blown 1.8)
Remember FrankenFender ??
This car was cut up since no one wanted it...........only rust was the battery tray
Mike,
Good pics. I assume you posted all you had, but do you have one of a section through the cockpit/engine compartment firewall? Is that double wall?
Mike
Mike,
No pictures of the area you are talking about.........yes, it is built up from multiple pieces of sheetmetal.
Behind the backpad on near the floor, you can see where it attaches to the main firewall.
Some cars will have rust in between this area and you don't know it until it gets really bad.
Actually I think he only cut this up to see how to install
roller bearings in those locations.
Very educational, but I sure hope the donor wasn't as rust free as it looks. All I saw was rust on the battery tray. It would sure be sad to waste a tub that has so little wrong with it.
I remember the car, I just don't recall the sawzalling of it.
for those that have not seen the insides of your 914 like I have
