914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Is 914 4712907548 euro spec import?

Posted by: itsa914 Feb 16 2006, 10:20 PM

Bought a parts car 4712907548 didn't think to much of it until tonight. Didn't all 914s imported to the USA have to have side marker lights? There a few things about this car that makes me wonder if this is a euro spec 914 that found its way to the USA. idea.gif

This emblem below was on the back. It looks orginal to the car, no signs of old holes plugged up. Then there is the missing side markers, stock yet different steering wheel, foglight switch and the labels on the rain tray, how the rain tray is held to the engine lid with tabs.

What do you think? and if it is, does it make it worth trying to save it? That would be a BIG task as it is in very poor shape.

Metal VIN tag on the drivers side windshield A-pillar?
Safety compliance label on the drivers door rear jamb?

Yes = USA car
NO = Eurocar

1st no window vin tag.

2nd yes on the label.

So was it uncommon to have cars like that in the USA? Not trying to say it is any sort of special car, just I haven't seen one like this before.

Do you have the font turn signal buckets?

If so are they divided? If they are divided, then it is a eurospec car...

And how much for the turn signal buckets?

Posted by: itsa914 Feb 17 2006, 09:05 AM

one is and one isn't. The one that is has a big hole in the lower corner. Oh and they both have a red overspray on them.

i've got 2 or 3 dif versions of rain trays on various engine lids. one is completely smooth and held on with rivets. on others some have rivets and some screws.

There are generally a half dozen vendors at any So Cal P-car swap meet with those emblems for sale. Mostly new. The Cap'n
