I want to thank Joe for being such a great host.
I also want to thank the guys that helped me sort out my dizzy: Clayton, Brando, Jeff, Brad, Matt, Craig and anyone else that lent a hand.
The car ran great on the ride home and I really appreciate the help!
Thanks,
Joe
WAY too much fun!
Thanks Joe for the killer grub and a great time! Only next time tell yer neighbors to park off the street. There was hardly any room to pass on the straights...
Hey Aaron, you gonna tube-frame that dumpster or run it stock?

A HUGE THANK YOU to Joe for putting out alot for this bbq
Waide sure got a nice car
Twistit1 and Brando worked on cars all day and night mostly on Beanie's car solving issues
They sent him on home running better than when in came
Had a blast meeting people and seening alot of beautiful cars
I think the best quote of the evening was bennie saying "hey, it's different with throttle control!"
I had a great time. Thank you Joe Sharp for putting on the best get togethers. And all the other guys, you know who you are, who keep my enthusiasm with this group high and alive.
The most fun I have is working other peoples' cars rather than my own. Keep bringin' `em, we'll keep fixin' `em.
now its my turn to sort out the day... NOT GONNA BE EASY,
k, came up on 3 strong cylinders doing 50-55 uphill.. didnt think more about it, its been like that since i got it.. Met some very nice people (new friends) and then I was waiting for one of those tasty burgers.. -HEY, arent you the swede running on three cylinders? (clayton, dont know your name here..) yepp, thats me, he gets his toolbox and say, dont just stand there, lets fix it!
getting help from so many (strangers) in one day is overwhelming, everyone who knew something pitched in, got iit running on 4 after a while, new plugs and some handy crafts on my hoses... GREAT! it ran awesome (although when aaron gave me a ride in mike's car.. WOW!!!!!!) then we started to get into some issues, ran on 4, ran on 3, ran on 2.. not at good sign.. well it ended up running on 3 1/2 which is great.. then my throttle cable or something broke.. (a bushing you said?) then it was time for me to do my first time ever work on my car.. may sound strange owning a 914, but i never tried really. I got so much help with both my car and do some work on my own today!
Thanks to all the guys and gals that were there. had a great time...
sorry joe for taking up your driveway and leaving marks oh, sorry for those parts i "stole" they were handed to me i swear hahaha,
sorry for the long post, just had an amazing day with some pretty knowledgeble guys!!
thanks
Cris ( I know clayton, i have red hair, im swedish its ok!)
almost forgot, I made it home, driving 75+mph in those mean uphills.. it all went good, and my headlights only went out 5 times,, which is not bad..

wow! can anyone post more pics/details of this car?
any info on those headlights?
Jeroen, talked to the owner a bit. Whether you like the styling or not, this is one super car. Example.. After raising the belt line in the back, he thought stock door looked funny, so he sectioned it and added about 2" at the rear so it 'met' the rear fender better. Also note modified windshield rake. Did all the work himself!!

I bought a bunch of V-8 parts from Doug (owner of that car) He's very detailed and did a great job. I'm thinking of taking my V-8 car to his painter. They did all the final body work and it is fantastic. Those headlights are custom made. It's a cool ride. Good job Doug!! |

I took a good look at it and can only say that the quality of workmanship and attention to detail were probably better than new cars get today. It was put together very well.
As far as the looks, well, let's just say that it's not my cup o' tea.
Doesn't seem to have much 914 left in it.

He hasn't had the windows cut yet. Combo of modified door and W/S rake will make it a very custom job. Engine sound is like a 360 Modena on steroids. I think extra buttons activate FLIR and AEGIS systems.
Big Big Thanks to Joe and Linda, I had a great time. It was hard watching them work while we screwed around, but somehow I managed. It's always nice hanging out with people nearly as dysfunctional as I am.

Cris,
Was really glad that you got you 914 running good; it really caps off a good bar-b-que to see another 914 running and a happy owner.
When I went though similiar problems several years ago, and before the 914world.com was established, it was very depressing. It's great to see others don't have to go through that.
Keep the faith, enjoy the 914, and keep your AA current.

He let me wake him up at midnight so I could crash in his house, took me to Donut Derilects in the morning, bought me breakfast, handed me tools and parts as I bellowed for them as I dirtied his driveway, and fed me some great food. You sir, are a man among men.
