I started in on my conversion project. I figured I better start it before winter gets over.
I am converting my street car to a 3.2. I had been gathering parts for at least a year now and should have most everything for the conversion. I have a few odds and ends to complete, but they should be completed along the way.
I am not building a show car and am doing all the work myself. Much thanks to those who have helped me to make some decisions on this project and to keep me motivated while gathering parts.
My progress is shown in my BLOG (see below)
So what did you do this weekend?
Cool..I'll be watching your progress. I start my 3.2l conversion in march!
Went to Joe's BBQ yesterday and Mike Z's at the beach for lunch today. You guys are so lucky to have all winter to work on your cars while we just have to drive them.
destroyed perfectly good tile around my fireplace in preperation of slate next weekend.
Black boogers are fun

I had breakies with a bunch of popcicle 914 guys. I told them that I would have a car running SOON
HA
Shhhhhh
Started sanding on shiny paint in preparation of shinnier paint.
boy once you take 80 grit to clear coat, you know you have passed the point of no return.

wow, that's a really nice looking view and the background looks good too. I took my precious out for a spin towards Banff and enjoyed the mountain scenery on one of the few nice days we have had.

I replaced the late model exhaust with the early style. Adjusted the valves for the first time with the Captain method.
Took a lengthy test drive, car sounds and runs great. While under the car noticed the anti-sway bushing are toast, so I ordered new ones.
The fun never ends.
Got up Saturday, and it was -16.2 F outside. went for a behind the scenes tour of the state capitol builing, had a great local beer, and lunch.
Got home, put on the coveralls and long johns and went out to my unheated garage to finish up getting the tub stripped of everything so I can send it to the soda blaster and body guy. Sunday, got up, -10.4 F (warming trend!) watched a movie on Starz free preview weekend. Got suited up and went out and finished the car. She is now ready for the body/restoration shop!
When I hear you guys bitch about 30 F it is pretty funny! You would HATE the weather here. On Wednesday it got to 54 F, Thursday, windy, 20s, and a foot of snow. Friday cold and windy, wind chill advisories in effect, Saturday and Sunday less wind but colder still. right now my outdoor thermometer says it is a warmer 7.5! And yet i am SOOO glad to be back in Wisconsin after years in NM and TX!
Yet it was a good weekend!

My Lady and I were in Kentucky at a police dog training seminar. I cooked food for all the cops, and she worked her German Shepherd. A good time was had by all but gosh was it cold.

So what did you do this weekend? |
I was swimming at Marachas Bay beach in Trinidad eating a Bake and Shark sandwich. It was only 85 and sunny with a cool breeze too......
shit, wish I was still sitting on the beach.....
I powder coated a test piece to see how difficult it was to do translucent colors. First time trying this, the piece didn't come out bad at all. I only did a section of the piece.
