Same thing goes with DVD players. Progressive scan makes a big difference as well.

I feel this is a bigger difference, but, yes, progressive scan (+ component output) is very much better than standard.

HD is way cool smile.gif. I got to see an HDCAM up close and personal, it is truly drool worthy w00t.gif But for the price tag it ought to be!

we shot a ton of stuff in HD the last couple years, but get it downconverted right away, so I was always looking at an NTSC copy of HD on a NTSC monitor, which looks really goood. This is just superb!

HDCams aren't that bad. A decent system can be had for what a run of the mill betacam was 10 years ago.
One of shooters got one right away and paid approx $70k for his whole rig. The rental price was about $500 more a day, but the weekly rate wasn't too severe. They really shine in "natural light" conditions and love contrast!

I can't wait til I can get an HD DVCam. I know they're coming, hopefully soon!!!

Seanery - have you seen the 24fps DV cam's from panasonic? They look pretty sweet for $2500.

Oh yes.. HDTV vs. regular TV or even DVD is far more dramatic a difference than comparing Progressive Scan Component to supervideo or just RCA connections.

Our cable system is pretty nice here. Digital cable with component HDVT output, and the boxes even have a digital video recorder in it now (like Tivo), so you can record up to 3 programs at one digitally and watch it later.

I've had a 65" Mitsubishi DiamondScan HDTV monitor for 3 years now, but only use it to watch DVDs or regular cable broadcasts. Too cheap to spring for the digital cable service right now. I watch most of my TV at night in bed anyways. I spend the rest of my time glued to my computer. 914club, surfing for porn, and offshore casinos. (Just kidding)

We will get something in the new house (either digital cable or Satellite). We're going to spring for some 42" plasma TVs as well. They prices are dropping on those big time. You can pick up 42" plasma sets for around $3k now. Compared to $10K just 9 months ago.

watch out for the burn in on those things, ouch!

You Dog! aktion035.gif

Now all you need is that $30,000 plasma dis[play they have at Fry's...

...and we'll all come to your house!
