hi guys,
I am having my leather wrapped steering wheel recovered, instead of guten tight, does anyone know the torque for the nut.

I don't have my Haynes handy but IF I remember correctly, it was something like 40 lbs.

I just crank it down with a pretty big 1/2 inch drive. Not as tight as it should be- which is prolly about 80 ft-lbs
edit- really just 40? OK....
For my BMW that recently removed the wheel on, I think I remember seeing that 80 figure.

Same here. I use a pretty hefty Craftsman 1/2" breaker bar (about 20" long) and just do it by feel. The wheel hasn't fallen off yet! laugh.gif driving.gif laugh.gif
