wonder why this part is thicker on a donor trunk 1/4 inch thicker than my 74 . any ideas?

Don't you hate it when you ask a question of all these experts and no one replys? rolleyes.gif

I'm thinking if your donor is a '75 or '76 the NHSA crash test requirements changed. Thats why the big bumpers for those years. They may has added some beef to the trunk lid so that it wouln't crumple as easy.

But I really don't know for sure, just a guess. confused24.gif

My trunk is thick like that. I just checked another trunk lid I got today. It's not.

My car is a 75. The other trunk lid is 72.

That's all I can offer.


But I like the way you set up your car! Does it have any windshield?

And the huge u-beams in the doors for side impact. They are heavy!
