so at what point( price ) is it cheaper to buy a rebuilt trans than get the one you have repaired

...and is there a place that sells rebuilts?

rebuilts aren't really stocked anywhere (that I know of)

partially because fully rebuilding one would cost thousands, while fixing only a really easy part would only cost 100's

so the price on selling one would need to vary anywhere from 200 to 2,000+

so basically what I'm saying is that you have to have yours rebuilt.. The cost of which will vary depending upon how much you need. And finding someone you trust is very important to assure that you are getting it done correctly.

having said all of that..
there are good people on this board that will do it much cheaper than your average porsche shop.

for example: Perry( I think), Dr. Evil, Clay?, James?
(some have stopped doing this work)

in order to save money, frequently parts that are used but within specifications are put into service.

Mike,

I may be swapping my 901 for a 915 in my conversion process. If so my 901 will be available (along with a working 1.8l ljet engine). I'm just up the road in Milwaukee.

Jim
