other than if the boots are leaking orand/or torn ids tehre any other way to tell if you r ball joints need replacing ....
and if I am replacing the front shocks w/ koni yellos and installing turbo tie rods should I really be replacing them anyway just because all the other stuff is being replaced?
Ball joints are easily replaced and only cost about $50 apiece.
I'd replace them now before you have your front end realigned.

I have a set that came w/ the car from the PO .. I just need to be sure they are the right ones....
I guess the torgue spec is a little ominous too ...
I suppose there is a special tool to take off the "grooved nut" from the bottom but a pipe wrench worked well for me. I found that these things were reusable... but I did need another set bolt. YMMV

If you are going to all the trouble to replace the other parts put new ball joints on.
