Turns out I don't have to be out of town this month, so I can do the breakfast. We're doing a place in Emeryville this time: Can't Fail Cafe, a block from EASY and near Pixar.
9:14AM, Saturday, 25 March. 4081 Hollis St., Emeryville.
http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?addr=4081+Hollis+St&csz=Emeryville%2C+ca&country=us&new=1
NOTE: the map is actually one block off, it's at the corner of Hollis and Park!
PS: the space reserved for us is in the back, when you walk in go passed the bar into the back area, then to your right.
the food and coffee orgy starts @ 10:00 am ...
[ADDED BY SIRANDY]

Berkeley would be nice. Close for me. I'm going there today so I'll keep an eye out for a good breakfast place.
Aw, shucks. I was gonna be lazy and do Santa Clara again. Nice and close.
Jen
How about Santa Clara, San Jose, Campbell, or Los Gatos?
I vote Foster city, it's close to the airport where I will be dropping someone off that morning.
Edit: Bezerkely is ok too but what a parking mess...
Damn...I got the 914 back and am driving it to work every day again, but I've got plans to stay in the mountains for a weekend snowboarding on the 25th. Can't make it again-bummer. Have fun!
We did Santa Clara last month. Trying to rotate this around the Bay so it's easier for everyone. I never get to Berkeley, so if someone wants to recommend a place in that area that has a good-sized parking lot, I'm perfectly happy to go there instead. Andy? Anthony? Anyone else that lives in that neck of the woods?

Pixar is good.
I might be able to make it to this one! Either Foster City or Bezerkeley would be fine. If we go to the Can't Fail Cafe I can drop by EASY afterwards and get some rocker panels.
I'm ready for my teener to be on the road again. She needs her spring coming-out party.
I'm guessing since Mark hasn't picked up my wheels yet, that she won't be making to the breakfast on the 25th though
I'm working on it Gwen. Chico isn't exactly around the corner.
I might get them tomorrow. I'll let you know.
The Can't Fail Cafe is good. How busy are they on a Saturday morning?
In Berkeley, I'd highly recommend the Tomate Cafe (5th/Bancroft) in West Berkeley. There's no parking lot but lots of street parking and great food. They are kind of smallish too, like the Can't Fail Cafe, so it might be cramped if there was a big turnout.
How many people have turned out for the last two breakfasts? Will San Jose people drive to Berkeley/Emeryville?

We had a fair number show up in Foster City last time we were there.
OK, so tentatively, we're looking at the Can't Fail Cafe. I'll edit the top post to reflect that.

i somehow doubt any of the south bay guys will *ever* drive anywhere other than the south bay ... |
Hey one breakfast I might actually be able to make! As long as my car doesn't decide to poop out before then for some unkown reason, I'll for sure be able to go. My dad and brother and his friend might come in their cars as well. I'll let you know in a little while who all would be coming with me. Thanks

there's plenty of parking on park ave across the street from the cafe on the pixar side.
great idea!!!!
i might even bring my car. just won't have blinkers or running lights....
We should all park on the Pixar side. The offset parking spaces will make a nice photo.

Andy
I'm there.
Who's up for hanging out at the shop later? Jeff Keyzer may be coming up. Andy, are you interested in this 3.6 I have in my closet?

Yeah, he's got some schtuff for me too! Soon I can finally test fit the motor.
Count me in Andy - will bring the taildragger though. I'll be the Teener-less SoBay rep!
I'm in.
i'm in and if someone should get there early, maybe flag the row of parking spots for 914's.
great photo op. =-)

The CSA (Chairman of Social Activities) isn't here to consult at the moment so I don't know. It would be cool to see Pixar and finally visit EASY.
Jon, I just talked to Gwen. You're going to have to start charging for your transportation services.
Plus I owe you some $ for those parts. I didn't forget you.
Jon is helping me to better relate to the jackstand club
GTeener looks like a hovercraft in my garage now... Anyone done one of those conversions yet

Several of us South-Bay folks showed up for the last East Bay one. Got to meet Leo Imperial for that, which was neat. |
Rain or no rain, I'll be trudging up there, mit FIAT. At least it's nice and dry inside, and has working heat. Neither of those things could be said of the 914 or the Squareback...
Doh! Calendar says I can't make a breakfast on the 25th
I can make a late lunch
Count me in.
reservation confirmed ...

i told them 10 - 15 people. don't be late. bring friends and family ...
Andy
only two more days !!!!
Can't wait.
Kylie and I are planning on coming, I hope there's room for us!
Deanna and I are planning on it.
Mark, I'm schlepping wheels in case you haven't heard so from Gwen.
Do they have Swedish Pancakes?
Can everyone do a "No Rain" dance today? I'm a CW and I don't want to get my car wet!
Actually - I think if I drive it in the rain it might just stop - cause a lot of the electrics are wet sensitive....

hm... probably not gonna drive 40-50 minutes in the rain for this one. Leaky car.
Bummer, since I'll be in Taiwan at the time of the next breakfast meet.
Jen
Come in a different car. If it rains my 914 stays in the garage and I'll drive the 911. It's a lot more waterproof.
But I don't have a 911.
Jen
"Shakin' Jesse Guinness Stout, Chocolate Ice Cream, and Espresso Milkshake"
i can't believe it. Bebe won't be ready by tomorrow. Epoxy not setup in time..... not enough room for gfriend and beer/booze. next time fer shure.

Crap - I can't make it either. I have the same excuse as Mueller * 1/2 Kids. Sleep is good - make that great! We have a nice waffle maker too.
one lascht see 'ya'all tomorrow morning ...
Andy
Last minute, but if anyone have a CV/Axle gasket to spare, I need one. I need to put the axles on the 911 tomorrow, and I'm one gasket short.
Bring me a gasket!
well, it finally cleared up, looks like it's going to stay DRY this morning ...
Andy

Finding a sweet 911 is never the problem, it's having to look at yourself in the mirror the next day that's hard. PS - for the record, yes, I may just be a little jealous that you have two nice porsches and I have one that isn't nice (yet). |
FYI,
i talked to john, at EASY, yesterday.
they'll be closed on saturday.
alright, just got back. if i counted right we had 2 (two) 914s showing and 16 people attend ...
most of them were from the south bay ... i guess my was effective after all ...
and here are my pics (that jenny took with my camera!) ...
first, jenny doing fuzzy advertising for her dentist, left to right:

this was fun! good food and the weather was holding up *ok* ...
btw. jenny, you gotta post that beaver-shot of yours!
Andy
40% of the "interesting" cars were 914s
40% were 911s
and 20% were Fiats.
Took me about 20 minutes to get there and an hour to get home again. I listened to all of Pink Floyds Dark Side of the Moon whilst experiencing the Dark Side of the Bay traffic.
Oh yeah - food was AWESOME - Thanks for suggesting the place SirAndy! I think we should add this to our regular roster of locations!
wow, those are some pretty unflattering pictures of me. Thanks for posting them.
Brian doesn't approve of me posting the beaver shot...

your camera sucks!
And pictures where you try to include yourself almost always suck anyway. Eh, can't win 'em all.
Car was nice, traffic was shitty.
Lemme find a card reader & see about getting that picture...
Jen
when the weather gets better there WILL be a stronger 914 showing.
as it was. not.

props to anthony for bringing his real clean stock 2.0. (this silver one)

Jenny, I hope you made it home okay without that dollar.
That was a great event. If only it was sunny and warm. Gotta complain about something.

James (lapuwali)
My sincerest apologies to everyone for showing up.
Damn, I hope this breakfast was a good one. Second one I've missed yet again. As I figured would happen, my car crapped out on me a few days before this thing. I dropped a valve seat again, but on the other side this time Hopefully someday I'll finally be able to show up to one of these in my car! Gotta hold another one locally again. Thanks
