914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Chrome Plating a Bumper Cover

Posted by: Tobra Mar 18 2006, 03:57 PM

I had someone tell me they had some bumper covers that they were going to get chromed. I have painted ones on my car now, would it just be a matter of getting these chromed or are the chrome ones different in some way. About how much is it to get a pair of bumper covers chromed, anyone done it?

bumper covers are "rubber", you cannot chrome it smile.gif

if you mean the bumper, then yes a painted one can be stripped and chrome plated.....

expect to pay from $300 to $500 for it...most places will need to see the bumper in person to give you an estimate...

I looked into this myself. The painted ones have to be perfect specimens w/o any bondo on them. Greenie did his own prep and did a nice thread on it. You might try a search. Eddy

with you being in Sacramento, there has to be a few plating shops within your area....even if you have to go to Stockton, it wouldn't be too far....
