914World.com _ 914World Garage _ is the 911 front suspension really THAT stiff?

Posted by: Dr. Roger Mar 19 2006, 12:35 PM

my car is now off the jackstands and the fenders aren't hitting anymore. =-)

first thing i noticed is that the front end only compresses an inch or so with my back side sitting on the left or right quarter. >200lbs.

the stock suspension felt almost soft compared to this.

i think the tortion bars are 2mm larger.

does this sound normal?

it'll be stiffer, but without looking at the torsion bar chart, I'd say no more than 50lbs worth of spring resistance...the shocks and condition of the rubber bushings makes a huge differance....old rock hard bushings are not a good thing smile.gif

Mike,

Thanks for that info.

I think of you as the bearing and bushing guru.

Unless I strike it rich I'll never become a serious racer but I do enjoy a fairly tight, fair weather, street car.

If I discovered that my bushings were in need of replacement what would you suggest ?
