Gonna replace my rubber brake lines today and was wondering if there is anything I should put on the threads when I put it back together.

Any other common problems when replacing them?

Old stuff so somthing might break...

You might apply a bit of light weight oil or brake fluid as a thread lube.

No thread compounds or teflon tape! Flare fittings need clean contact to work.

The rear lines are a pain to get to. Take your time.

A set of LINE WRENCH crows feet are you friend on the rears. Took me 15 to swap both this last time I did it now that I have all the right tools.

For those members who don't already know, line wrenches are the "correct" tool for working on brake lines. They are basically a box wrench with a little slot cut out. See the picture. This set cost me about $15 at NAPA.

wow mark . at that price, i can't afford not to have a set of those!! getting out the phone book right now. combo box wrenches suck on brake lines.

Jeez, I just went to Sears to get 1 flare wrench and the lady rang it up at almost 20 bucks.

Went back and bought a complete set for $37.00.

i can see the red factor going way down. when the combo wrench slips off, where the rear hard line connects to the soft line, and you stuff your hand into the bracket, it hurts pretty good.

Gotta find the EVERCRAFT crap. It's their "cheap-o" line. These will probably last me my lifetime.

Rears will have to wait. I gotta get this thing on a lift.

How do I reset the master cylinder circuit?

I remember someone saying you have to crank the wheels all the way to one side or another and reach up into somthing.

get under the car... pull the front suspension cover...

look at your MC. at the electrical connection, there is a little, TINY button you puch to reset it AFTER you bleed it

Kinda like finding the "Gee" spot...once you see it. it's like...oh THAT's it....

yup... the actual button is like 2mm by 2mm.... TINY.

And it's my sole responsibility to remind everyone every time this comes up that not all MCs have the reset button. If there are two wires hooked to your switch you have no reset button so don't bother. If you only have one wire hooked to your MC then there is a reset button.
