Well, I finally came to the point that I decided to bail out on the '72 I have
I had been looking for a decent roller for some time and bought one today

Yeah, I'm really exited boldblue.gif

It's a nov.'73 car ('74 vin)
2.0 engine and sideshifter tranny are supposedly rebuild (doesn't run)
Well, they look very clean, so it sounds believable
heat exchangers look decent too

This time, I bought a solid one biggrin.gif
All rust repairs have been recently done
It was easy to check, cause none of it has been painted yet
Maybe not CW-quality repairs, but it's been done nicely
The "hell hole" is solid

Other good stuff:
Brand spanking new front and rear fenders (the stickers are still on 'em)
Front and rear swaybars
2 roofs
2 front hoods
2 rear hoods
4 seats (1 in absolute CW condition, others in good/fair shape)
1 chrome front bumper in very nice shape
2 chrome rear bumpers (both with a minor dent)
Brand new rear shocks (red koni's)
extra steering rack
extra fuel tank
extra set of doors (with fiberglass outer shells, made by "Lenner")
and a shitload of other misc. parts (interiour, trim, lots of stuff double)
All of it hardly fit on the trailer biggrin.gif

The guy I bought it from had to bail out on this project because of other priorities

Paid $1750,- so I think I got a very nice deal

I'll sell the engine and most of the parts (I hardly need anything, I basically needed a decent tub)

I'll post pics tomorrow (to dark now)

cheers,

Jeroen

Too bad the Netherlands are so far away...I could use some of those parts!!!!

All that aside...congrats on the new car. It'll be fun getting it together...

Cool Jeroen!

This tub is to replace the tub we've seen pics of?
So, the project continues, but just with a different VIN# ?

Pick a date and send airplane tickets. smash.gif
We can have a marathon work party like they did with Jenny's car.

That looks like a nice find Jeroen. A coat of paint will really do a lot for that thing. Nice longs!

Well the '72 tub is going to the scrap heap
It's too much work for me to make that driveable again (would have to become a full tube-frame, and I didn't feel comfortable building the suspension pick-up points)
It would have been a lot of fun, but I just don't have the time and I wanna drive for a change

With a little luck, I can drive the '73 within about a year (it's been 4 years already)

I'll be selling the /4 engine out of the '73 (will be replaced with a 3.0 Carrera)
I think I'll keep the side shifter that came with the '73 car in favor of the tailshifter from the '72 (which I'll either sell or keep as back up for internal parts)

I'll try my very best to remove the front fenders in 1 piece (they'll be replaced by the f/g fenders I have)
The rears will have to be cut up (for the installation of the f/g rear fenders) which is a shame really, cause the current fenders are brand new.

If I can sell all or most of the parts that came with the car, I'll have my money back.
But even if I don't, I think just the tub was worth the money I payed...

I removed most of the tar on the floor panels today, and I found no rust or nasty surprises! That's nice for a change biggrin.gif

cheers,

Jeroen

Looks like a can of Brake Cleaner on that interior shot!

Brad should have bought stock in the companies that make it!
