914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Some MPS repairs never work!

This was inside a MPS sent to me, wow, someone really had a bright idea. Coat the cracked diaphram in a ton of silicone to make a seal!
It didn't work. wink.gif dead horse.gif

Geoff,

When you put the MPS's back together, do you reuse the diaphram gasket? Or do you remove it and just use that black think goop you were talking about?

Posted by: Bleyseng Mar 29 2006, 12:38 PM

Yes, I toss out the paper gasket and use the Ultimate Gasket maker Grey- MotoSeal #1 to seal the diaphram to the body. Let it dry for a day before testing it!

Alot of "bad" MPS's just have a bad paper gasket seal, all the rest have blown diaphrams.

Is it possible to do a NDI inspection on the diaphrams and solder the weak points with a heavy lead based solder?

You can't solder where it breaks as it right at the flex point! sad.gif
