914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Help/advice needed moving a roller

Posted by: TonyAKAVW Apr 1 2006, 02:35 PM

Daniel (aka Dlo) wants to take a roller off my hands and has been trying all week apparently, to find a trailer. I initially told him to look into Uhaul, but I don't know of any other places that rent trailers.

Any advice here?

The move is a total of roughly 30 miles.

Get a U-Haul tow dolly and put it on ass first.

$40.00 for 24 hrs...

Tow dolly won't work. The tires don't hold air and the suspension isn't really bolted on all the way.

Also if it isn't registered, it can't have any wheels touching the ground. And this car isn't registered...

Why not just hire a flat bed car hauler to do it for you?

How much could it cost?

i was able to find a tow vehicle ( 06' Dodge Durango Full Size), but just my luck the places that rented out the auto transports were all booked dry.gif. Anyone able to lend me there trailer? Money is a bit tight right now for me. The rental of the vehicle is costing me $75 sad.gif and a $40 Uhaul trailer brings it out to $115. I guess that isnt that bad, but testing out the waters. i'll continue to check w/ U-Haul and see if i can get a reserve on a trailer.

A AAA+ account (tell AAA that it is current registered, wink, wink) will tow it 30 miles.

When I bought my MG they only charged my $75 to flatbed tow it 12 miles. Have you called any tow places for a quote?

Tony: It cost $.50 per mile to move Moncha, and I think my round trip would be a little over 100 miles.

ive requested for a Full-Size SUV, because they already come w/ the tow package wink.gif Now it all comes down to either a Nissan Armada ($100/day) or Dodge Durango ($75/day).

Here's my schedule for the rest of the week in terms of my availability...

Tuesday, Wed., should be home by 7.
Thursday, busy
Friday, should be home by 6 or 7, could potentially try to leave earlier.

Saturday morning would be okay, would like to go to Long beach for the race..
sunday if I do go to the race, Sunday is out.

Next week I should be available most evenings as well.

Theres supposed to be rain tonight, if that makes a difference.

p.s. Maddeye, thanks a lot for helping out with this. This really helps out both Daniel and myself!
