1.7 with webers can't stop the ping when it gets hot how low of a setting can you go ? Tom444...
What dizzy do you have?
Vacuum advance or not???
Check for over-advanced ignition timing. Too much spark advance can cause cylinder pressures to rise too rapidly. If resetting the timing to stock specifications doesn't help, retarding the timing a couple of degrees .
The dizzy advance plates could be stuck, or filled with crap...
Take them out, clean an regrease.
Rich
not..
you have what dizzy?
The advance curve may not be right for your car.
You need to look for the number on the side of the dizzy...
If its a bosch..the last three numbers will tell you what you have...050 or 009
If any other number...put the whole number here..
You can re-curve a dizzy, but its easier to get the right one.
Rich
no vac or points 009 distributor runs fine for 10mins then the ping starts
tom444..
you need either a mallory or a 050 to get even close to right...
The thing heats up and pings...its to far advanced.
