Cool Canepa museum in Scotts Valley across the street from my wife's office. Looks like they have a 914-6 GT!

Tom (Carreraguy) and I saw his museum in the works when they had an open house last November. This was before they had the -6 GT. When you go, ask him to see his VW bus 993 twin turbo project...
I was on his web site several weeks ago, 914-6 I believe is for sale...at the Historic Races at Laguna his red 917 is always a hit.

This car belonged to and was restored by Mark Allin and Precision Automotive Restoration of Newburyport, MA...this car underwent a 100point body-off restoration. None better than this shop. There was a 7 or 8 page pictorial of this car in the Jan/Feb '05 issue of Vintage Motorsports

They/he is just completing the build of my 914/6 GT. Don't know if he is taking it to show at Hershey?

These people stink Let's play count the 959's... The last time I saw this many in one place was at the Porsche factory in 1987.
What's this in the front trunk?

That is a build out on the fuel cell to make it a long distance cell... |
it's a trophy case
What are they asking for the -6?
a couple of months ago they were asking $ 195,000 IIRC
Wow $195K it must cost a ton of money todo a body off resto on a unibody car

- that's my understanding too
in Europe there were at least 3 original GTs for sale within the last couple of months
they were all fully restored by specialists and they were asking between
EUR 200,000 (~ US$ 235,000) and EUR 250,000 (~ US$ 295,00)
so, to me, the price for the Lufthansa GT seems to be a bargain ... unfortunately I can't afford

My point was totally tongue in cheek, You cannot do a "body-off" frame restoration on a car where there is no frame A better term would have been ground up or complete restoration. I know restos are not cheap todo by any means, I am doing a bucks up GT look conversion right now on an orig 6 and it co$t$ big time. |
When I hear "complete restoration" and "ground up"
I figure everything was taken off, redone, new parts in apropriate places, and assembled perfectly..
Thats my take on cars done for museums or high end shows.
Body off to me would say, they separated the body from the chassis and cleaned replaced and painted everything.
Ground up.. would be everything from the ground up is either replaced, redone, or repainted... same as Complete..
Thats my take, and im a hot rodder...

At 5,332 members that works out to $36.57 each and then each of us could have the car for an hour and a half every year.....presumably that hour and a half would be spent driving the car to the next member's house.
Oh wait there's probably tax on that too........
