i know there are about ten guys up north, seattle to marysville that need to get together now that there is some sun light after six pm. so we could meet up at some establishment for food and drink and bench racing.
we could come up with a regular spot or some one could pick a new place every week or biweekly that they would like to turn us on to.
wudda think guys?
Sounds Good ............Teener Tuesday
Troy your in charge
becarefull of putting me in charge. i might get people in trouble.
I vote for the XXX Drive-In in Issaquah for one of the Tuesdays! and (Homemade Rootbeer)
Good stuff!!! Plus the Drive-In folks there are car club friendly!
It's an idea for warmer weather.
I like Pikes market.
Is it teener friendly?
Some 911/914 guys on Pelican NW BBS already meet at the XXX once a month on Sat. Its a good car meet with a drive sometimes..
Pike Place is fun on a Sat morning too. During the week there isn't too much to do there esp after 5pm except hit the bars.
pike place market? no way to much of a frigging zoo.
tripx would be good. we've got 3 hooters we can go to.
for good food there's that greek italian pplace in canyon park, and canyons at canyon park.
a coulpe of places in kirkland at carrilion point [park in the fire zone circle]
some good places in snohomish.
la familia in millcreek.
red hook in woodinville.
mac minimenes [spl?] in mill creek.
any others favorites out there?
Burgermaster in Montlake.
Murphy's Irish Pub in Wallingford
Eylisian Brewery on Capitol Hill
Any good Pizza and Brew place works great for me!
the rocker pizza and brew in alderwood
Sounds great except I have shifts falling on the next three Tuedays.
If we get it rolling folks will make if they can!
no problem there zaney you cook and we'll come on down. everone knows fire fighters can cook.
Anything can be cooked on a BBQ!
Except the beer would have to be Root flavored
I have not meet many local teeners, I hope this is an open invitiation. Sure would like to meet a few of you. I live in south Everett, Issaquah is a streach but I should be able to make a few meetings.
of course this is an open invite. this is a non-club club.
and i live just northeast of millcreek, your in my nieborhood.
we might have to split this thing up for south sound and north sound groups or people could just pick which one sounds closer or more fun.
Well, lets make it quick as I leave for 2 months to South America....I'll be at the April 9th Harmon Brewery meet if I can.
Hope the rest of you make it esp you guy up north of Seattle.
ok shall i call this our first teener tuesday april 4th meet at the lynnwood hooters. [unless some one else has a better place around lynnwood].
i'm off work at 6pm so i'll be there 'bout 6:20
I vote for Red Hook some time in the future.
Once a week would probably be a bit too frequent for me to get away with, but I would love to hang out once or twice a month.
Great idea Troy! Let's do it.
|ok shall i call this our first teener tuesday april 4th meet at the lynnwood hooters. [unless some one else has a better place around lynnwood].|

Not I ...
Good idea. Tuesdays are usually good for me but I'm committed for the next two weeks. I agree with Rand that every week may be too much, although with everyone having busy schedules some people will always be available. Whether twice a month or every week it's a good idea to do it the same day. TripX works good, but I'm game for North end locations also, just tell me where.
i also think every week is hard for people to make,
btw i thinnk every other tuesday would be good unless this thing really takes off and the need for more teener bonding calls for every week.
sounds good to meez, I will try to make it, but living in Bremerton makes it tuff!
I would also like to meet more teeners from the area! Bellingham is a bit of a ride for a tuesday night, any chance of having it on a weekend or a little farther north!!!
As I had said there is a meeting at the XXX once a month on the second Saturday. See the link:
So is this a rain or shine gathering? The forecast is not too good for Tues 4/4. Hooters in Lynnwood is on 196th, Right? Eddy
yup rain or shine. i'll be there.
look for me, i'll be wearing my usual
This was a XXX Saturday last spring.
A group of us track junkies meet the first Wednesday of every month in West Seattle. We have three regulars who are 914 owners.
This Wednesday we are meeting at the Pacific Rim Brewery in White Center on 14th Ave SW. Everyone is welcome. 7:00 pm.
Unfortunately my teener is still spread all over the garage ... and workshop.
I don't get out of the neighborhood too much until after April 15th ... CPA kind of stuff.
maybe we should just meet at eddy's house and put his teener back together for him, no more excuses.
|maybe we should just meet at eddy's house and put his teener back together for him, no more excuses.|
Let me know when and where. I believe that we will be meeting tonight at hooters in lynnwood? What time? Some times I can make it. Sometimes not. But tonight looks good.
Are you guys meeting today? I was looking forward to meeting some of the Northwest teeners but I am picking it up today from the painter and taking it straight to the windshield shop to have the new windshield installed. I am thinking that if I play my cards right I should have it all back together by Sunday night. So? Next tuesday
I'm a about 3 weeks (and a new carpet kit that I'm waiting for to show up) from being able to drive the 914 anywhere, but like the idea of a semi-regular get together.
Twice a month or so would be cool- and maybe we keep moving the location around so that it's fair for everyone?
Your teener has always been a lot more "put together" than mine.
I suspect that is why you go by "Smooth Eddy". Maybe I should be "Rough Eddie" to match the condition of my teener.

Just pullin the teener out of the Garage now. Figure I would leave in about 15-20 minutes...See you all there.
Just checked the traffic cams. All clear both North and South bound. Got the weather too. I'll be there at 6:30 PM. Eddy
it's a good thing eddy kept us from getting outa control.

we were good boys at hooters. we went for a little twisty drive after.
Any night that ends by massaging curves is a success.
I will be ready fo da next one!
looks like fun too bad it would have been tough to push my car outta the garage . so who is gunna be at PCA autox this saturday? im looking forward to first drive of the season, and maybe get to drive my friends 930 on da track
I couldn't make it because we had a water leak upstairs and I came home to soggy sheetrock in the kitchen downstairs. Poked a hole in some sagging tape and drained a half gallon of water into a bucket.
So I spent the evening fixing the leak (fortunately that was minor), cutting out the soggy sheetrock, and drying things out. Tonight I get to put it back together.
Looking forward to another Teener Tuesday!
I was busy planning/orderingtoolssupplies for the trip......lame excuse I know.
can you shoot the link for the AX on Saturday. I just migrated to a new laptop and had some issues!

FYI: pre-register at the PNWR site for the autocross and save $5!
We're stuck at 79 entrants and we would like to see over 80, a few more 914's in GTU would be great!
I hear my 76 is going but I can't attend.

Will do Gint! Hows the ride coming? I am taking the wife, so, she will operate the camera and I will drive....or do I have that backwards?
no kyle. i know about tomorrow for the ax. i was refering to geoff finding another/new excuse for not attending the meet and greet for scott at the harmon brewing co in tacoma on sunday at 1pm. geoff hates cossing the pierce/king county line.
The web site says bremerton raceway, but i thougth it was at the airport? Does anybody have a street adress?
The race track is the back side of the airport here are directions and a map!
Cool, Thank you. What time do the festivities start?
it's sort of adjacent to the airport. exit @ sw clifton road, turn left(coming north on 16), forward and left @ the texaco, take imediate right and forward to the drag strip.

puke coffeee too.
ok, no buritto's, no coffee. What time should I not eat the burittos or drink the cofee?
gate open at around 8, if you are looking to compete, I would be there early, bring a folding chair and warm clothing, lots of waiting...
Cool! Sounds good. I will probably get there around 9. I don't plan on racing, so, I will drag ass ( no pun intended) getting down there.
See you all tomorrow.
just an FYI, the burritos make the other end not happy either!
See ya there
ANY time. i'll leave home at 8 or so.
Hey, Kevin. Ya got a extra chrome sail trim piece in great condition for the passenger side?
Not sure if I can make it on Sunday as I have to walk the dog.
Only 9 more days and I am gone!
ax-ing in washington, in april . 8am, tech is starting, and then the rain begins. i fear it will be a long damp one for the guys running GTU.
ok who's picking the spot for this tuesday?
Does anyone want to attend a 914 evening gathering on Tuesday April 25th?
1974 914 2.0
I might have a tuff time making it again... but I will endevor to do my best to attend
where are we going?
name the place, i'll be there.
Man I have to get my car done soon... This is killing me. Meet-ups and sunny weather.
Let me know time and place and I will try to make it. So far it looks good!
Chris ? tech session?
count me in. PM me address and I will show up. What time? 9:14
I am up for it if nothing else comes up. More info???
YAY! I just noticed that I have been a member for EXACTLY one year TODAY!
Ha! I missed my 1st!
Rich, saw your LE at the paint shop
Another bump for info... Time and address?
So far, I have not seen any suggestions for the time and location of a 914 meeting next Tuesday (25-April-2006). I'll place 1 vote for Pete's Bar and Grill in Carnation at 6:00 PM. Other suggestions?
Sounded like Saturday at Rich's might be happening too. But I don't know where he lives.
I should be able to make that as well. Please post addy
Tuesday April 25th, 6:00 PM.
How does that work for everyone else?
I should be able to make it.
Do they have a family section?
family section hehe, sorry i had too
hey chris you wanna follow me down on tues.? i'm off early so we could leave 'bout 5pm and take back roads thru the valley all the way down.
soounds good! my cell number is 303.807.2757. Give me a ring. If things at work go to hell, then I will have to waive off. But so far we should be golden.
they have kids meals on the menu, so looks like minors are wellcome
Is anybody doing this?
see ya'll there tomorrow.
Hey Troy, what time you leavin'? If I get off work in time I'll chase you and Chris out there.
Am in Raligh/Durham NC.
Its muggy here
I figured I would give Troy a call at about 3:30 and determine time and location. my cell number is 303.807.2757. Give me a ring about 4pm.
For the North End, we will be meeting at the Albertsons on 132 and 35th at 5:30. between the gas station and the McDonalds. Call Troy for directions as I am new to the area and don't know any better yet. See all who can make it tonight!
Are you going out via Woodinville Duvall Road? If so I'll hook up somewhere along there.
damn it i missed this one...working again...
will try to make the next one
I won't quite be ready ...
engine is still on the stand
transmission is still in the corner
- the Chris Foley SS fuel lines will be installed tonight
- the JWest brake line "T" and adjustable brake proportioning valve will be installed tonight
Wish I could make the event, but my wife is out of town on business for the week and the kids need a bit if supervision.
I won't make it either as I am too far away..I did just have a killer Hot Pot dinner thou.
Excellent Teener Tuesday!
Seven 914s, perfect weather, winding back roads, and... possum burgers? (The actual name of a special burger on their menu. I know McMark would approve.)
Greenie and effutuo101 had cameras, so hopefully we'll see some better photos than my cell-cam specials...
awsome drive there, to bad i miss our turn on the way back, oh well i haven't been thru redmond for a long time.
thanks guys, another great tuesday!
for some reason I did not get an email on this one. I would have gone had I know there was a dinner. It is an easy jump after work from Bellevue. Oh well. Eddy
no e-mails, ya just gotta keep an eye on this thread
much fun was had by all! Sorry for getting you with the gravel Kelty! As soon as my wifes puter emails me the picuturs, I will resize and post.
I should get an email for every thread I post at. It does not work all the time with this new format for some reason. Eddy
We need one of these further south so some of us south sounders can make it.

Sorry for getting you with the gravel Kelty!
I think you missed. I checked when I got home and I still had the 84 rock chips I had when I got there. Good food, waitress with attitude, biker chick photo girl - where's the pics Greenie?- and country roads for your driving enjoyment. Teener Tuesdays rock!
trying this size..
joined on the road. a sorta scary moment shortly after this.. the three of us were scooting along and a cop passed us in going the other way. Guilt for previous corners? dunno..
I am getting good at taking pictures without actually seeing what the view finder shows and . Down loading the next set now.
the drive home...
Sorry I missed it, I was getting my ingrown toenail fix... TMI I KNOW!!
I used to jump off that bridge in Carnation when I was young...
Dave, should we meet at Hooters South next time?
There are more pictures, but not on my camera. Hopefully they will get posted shortly. So, all winners and no wammy's. Any auto x this weekend? a couple of fast corners and the blood was brought back to a simmer. Heart rate didn't increase, but the corners and braking zones got my attention. I had a great time and a couple of Schumacher moments where I was screaming for some more ponies to pull me out of some corners. Thanks to Troy for showing us the long way there and back!
So, we had:
Hope everybody had fun!
Greenie started http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=50789. Just don't tell him that ugly chick's husband is looking for him.
Hey solo914!! My son told me about you. Looking forward to meeting you next time. Let me know if you want a hand troubleshooting.
We could have thrown down the grub and run over and helped you out if we had known! Hopefully you get it sorted out. If not, we can help

It is a nice roller with alot of great parts.
I'll post some pics soon.
the best part is the triad exhaust for $100.
If you are parting it out. I need all of the e brake stuff....Let me know.

I was on my way to pick up the motor and tranny and the guy said not to bother because a guy was heading his way at the same time with cash... did you get that also????
No I didn't get the motor - probably should have - I wasn't even thinking about getting the whole car but the guy didn't really want to mess with parting it.
the motor looked pretty good from the outside but it was a 1.8
pretty nice find
i've never seen our name spelled that way.
Well, if nothing else comes through, how about Redhook Brewery?
Does Red Hook have food? Looks like I can make this one and the weather is supposed to be okay. Eddy
Redhook works for me. What time?
last time i was there they had food. i'll be there about 6:30-7
I had lunch at Redhook on Friday... Food was good but that's not why I went there......
I've got softball on Tuesday Night. Should be done around 8-8:30. I will be driving past there on my way home... If you guys are still there I will stop in.
Sorry, guys if you are talking about the red hook in Woody ville, I will have to pass... just to far back to Bremerton
Next one I vote for Pyramid or Hooters Tackyoma!!
sorry guys, I have to work and I'm not off until 9:15.
I'd love to join ya but the location puts me just out of distance for a casual gathering. Something about being well rested the next day for that job that pays the 914 bills.
Next time somewhere on the South side of Seattle and I'm there!
come on you south end guys. you gotta come up with one on the south sound. us north end guys are all for getting together up here, but you south end contingent guys should be able to come up with something, i might not be able to get down there but in sure others that are closer can.
here maybe some places closer south: bahama breeze in south center, mc cabes in tacoma, some place in auburn or fedway.
and for you dino maybe we might be able to hit something on alki or downtown sea.
If anyone local is doing anything fun in the sun tonight, PM me please! The weather is too good to get stuck under the car!
Teener Tuesday Alert!
Tuesday, May 23. Let's meet at the Roanoke Inn on the north end of Mercer Island. 1825 72nd Ave SE. Parking is tight, but I've arranged for reserved parking across the street at the VFW Hall. I'll be there by 6:30 PM.
The Roanoke is a cool old place, has an old roadhouse feel to it with a big front porch and a patio. Good food and a pretty crusty atmosphere for an upscale neighborhood. Best part is the tour around Mercer Island afterwards - some real fine twists and turns. The Kitsap guys could take the Bremerton ferry and be there 15 minutes after they hit the dock in Seattle.
Here's a link for info, a map and directions. http://seattle.citysearch.com/profile/10754973/
I will check my work schedule. Hopefully I can make it!
I plan to be there. Barring any problems at work.
Greenies In !
should be good to go for me.
If I can drive, I will be there! Find out Tuesday if I have to go bak for more toe cutting!
WE REMEMBER THE NIGHT RIDER! Bronze can't take that away!
I will be sure to let you know mstein. I forgot to look today, but I will check tomorrow.
I plan to attend.
see ya tomorrow guys
I will be there! I got the day off work.
perhaps next time. M.I @ 6:30? no!!
Can't make it. I gotta get my car back together for Thurday blast off for Cali.
Some dumb idjut (me) hooked up a 12V wire to a ground in the relay box for the fuel injection and made a bunch of magic smoke. So I'm soldering like mad tonight.
If anybody wants to part with a spare window crank tonight, I'll buy it at the going price (broke off yesterday).
black base or chrome?
Jim and I will be heading out of Pierce County @ 5:00pm - anyone else we need to pick up along the way?
See you all there.
listen to KOMO (am 1000) for the traffic reports so you can make adjustments to your route. you could stop by and pick up a window crank handle for kevine if i find out what's needed.
Are we still on for Roanoke Inn at 6:30?
I will be there....
I did get the stitches outta my toe, but I think the rain and inablity to wear any shoes or sock are going to keep me sidelined for another week
This is killing me! Close ... so very close! But I don't think I can make the event (the Roanoke Inn is even nice and close).
We got the 3.2 into the teener this weekend. WOW! Scary fast (once it's running on the main jets). Unfortunately the idle circuits on the Webers still need a lot of work. Lots of coughing and popping. It's got fresh fuel and the bowls and passages have been cleaned multiple times. Looks like the 46's are going to have to come off for a thorough cleaning and set-up. I'm tempted to put the 40's on for a test.
Additionally, my wife is working this evening and the kids need my attention.
Have a great time!
a fun time was had by all...except Greenie who drove the 911 and left just as the roads got interesting. Pictures to follow from those who brought cameras!
Yeah, good fun. 7 teeners and an ass dragger made a sweet group. Since the Roanoke Inn is on the historical register this pic should maybe go on the famous places thread.
Lots of fun guys! I really enjoyed myself in those twisties! Good spot to do again. Maybe with better weather though.
Had a blast - well worth the 150 mile round trip. BTW - who's that hiding in the back looking shamed? Missing in pics are Kyle's yellow 1.8.
Looks like fun- hoping I can join everyone either next week or by the week after at the latest. Just got done with my welding (longs and floorpan) and just need to put 'er back together and then see if she still runs!
Glad you all had fun without me!
I had fun(?) trying to get the 3.2 to idle (again) with the 46mm Webers. We tried increasing the idle jet size from #60 to #65 (thanks to an ass dragger friend who canabalized the Webers on his 911 Carerra RS) with minor improvements. It still would not idle on all six cylinders but the popping was reduced somewhat.
I finally gave up and ripped the 46's off and put on a set of 40mm Webers from the old 2.7. I plugged in a set of #60 idle jets and ... WOW! Finally! The new 3.2 fired up and idled evenly on all six cylinders. The balance on the 40's was still fine after they had been sitting on the shelf for 9 months. She's a driver again!
Where is next Tuesday's meeting?
Glad to hear you're getting your carbs sorted out.
Where would you like Teener Tuesday to be?
Here's another pic from last night with a few of the guys: Morgan, Chris, Jim, Kyle and Kevin. The Mercer Island circuit was a hoot if you like hairpins and dark, rain slick roads.
If any of you south end guys are feeling left out, I will be going down around Oly and then up the Hood canal on sunday for my girlfriend's birthday. Looking to go up to one or two of the forts and eating dinner at the Nifty Fifties diner in Port Townsend. I just hope the weather will improve before then. Who is up for it??? Dino? DNHunt? Morgan? We could do "checkpoints" of where to get more cars into the line and continue up the canal.
Lots o fun! I think the next teener tuesday is in two weeks. I don't know about the rest of you, but I am personally in favor of driving before getting something to eat. More light, more fun.
I'm really sorry about driving the "assdragger" Greenie had an appointment with her favorite set of jackstands.
Regarding why I needed to leave & not tackle the twisties, I've just heard the taildraggers can't keep up with the teeners so why bother?
I also needed to get home , I had a long night ahead polishing up Greenies Trophy from the Mothers Day Show!!
at the show...
Now for the Real Trophy
ssshhhh greenie, don't let it out how nice your teener is 'cause ferg will come out and snatch it up from you!
Looks like I cant even make it now for Sunday! Work scheduled me at the last minute, so that kinda ruins that! Maybe we can all get together and make that drive later in the season. It would be more fun that way.
So, I think that we should meet up somewhere in Tacoma this next tuesday. Maybe the Ram? You guys gotta see my new "house"
I'm believe my Tuesday is open - I'm game.
jim, was that electric impact wrench you used for the control arm fix yours or did you borrow it from your ex neighbor?
in a couple of weeks i might make it out too.....if i can get that pesky thing off the four jackstands it has been perched on all winter....
That wrench was my dad's Kev. I think it is over at my sister's house. It will be good to see you again Steve! Hope you can get those jackstands "exterminated"
Morgan, What time do you think?
my guess is ruston way. his folks bought a 51' live aboard. looking forward to seeing all of you northsound guys.
You are right Kev. I am talking ruston way Ram. There is also the Dock St. bar/restaurant down here on the water. It has better parking, and is a little more quiet. I will work on getting an address for the bar this weekend. I will give you a call about that impact wrench as well.
Found the address for the Dock St. Landing. I think that it would make a much better location as far as parking, and it is usually way less crowded.
Dock Street Landing Bar-Grill
535 Dock St, Tacoma, WA 98402
Lets say about 7pm? Give any northend guys a little time to get off work and fight that traffic, or take the scenic route.
legit excuse this time. i'm leaving for california in the am on sunday. won't be home till thurs. have fun.
Any one possible have a spare '73 2.0 FI harness? I can bring $$$ on tuesday for a decent one, or if you have a ratty one, I really just need the contact point wires and plug for them.
the green machine is going on the stands soon. So I am not going to make it Tues...
Have fun for me!
I've got a 6 PM appointment in downtown Seattle on Tues. Never be able to make it to Tacoma even close to 7:00. Normally, it wouldn't be a problem heading down there. Enjoy.
I'll be there at 7:00 sharp.
I've got to take my boys to music lessons tomorrow at 7:00 PM, so I'll catch you next time.
Hey, I'll be there. . . as long as my starter holds out, and my gas pedal doesn't get stuck. . . and my battery cables don't fall off. . . and my . . . actually, I'll probably be there regardless.
I won't be making this one, but hope to make the next one as I just got the car put back together (mostly) and started again for the first time since I took it apart to do rust repairs (among others) last october. Whoo-hoo!
Don't see any postings for tonight, but is there a plan for next tuesday? Hope I'm not jinxing myself, but my car is up and running, and fairly ready to go, other then a charging issue.
Would appreciate anyones 2 cents on the it here:
I might have a pretty long day at work next Tue. (till 7 or 8 maybe). Not sure yet. So something around Seattle would be nice for me.
I know that there was already a meetup in Carnation, but someplace similar (an area with twisty backroads) would be cool.
I am out of town next Tuesday, and my 914 spewed oil all over my front right tire and wheel well on the way home last night (where the external oil cooler is located).
The 914/6 3.2 is finally close to road ready, and my wife will be town to look after the kids for the first time in nearly a month.
The heat shielding needs to be double checked on the oil supply line at the engine mounted oil cooler. The hose I'm currently using can't handle the heat from the headers.
The Webers 46IDA3C carbs still are NOT ready, but the engine is running pretty well on the old 40's off the 2.7.
See you there! Where?
I'm in ........ depending on the location. Mercer Island was pushing it for me last time.
oh, and more
I'm in for Mercer Island, I've only gone around it on my bike before, should be fun in the car (despite the low speed limit).
i'll be in auburn all day. so i'll make the call on this one to go to bahama breeze in south center. any one game?
Sounds good to me if my car is still running. I am having lots of FI problems and am seriously considering carbs or Megasquirt. I wont be able to go to the WCC now due to that. Any locals have carbs for sale???
I have one I can loan you and I have the Janbo tester that can test the FI out including the wiring harness. I do have a 1.7l wiring harness laying around for the connectors.
What are the problems you are having?
I am back in town and I am confused as to exactly when the next little ron-day-vous is?
he's bound and determined to tear off the djet and purchase carbs, linkage, a dif dist, a new fuel pump, filters, etc...i told him to SAVE some money and buy a harness from bowlsby. what do i know? very little, but that's a given. he just has a few connector issues at this point. intermitent fi probs.
Yes, most of the issues with Djet are harness related due to old connectors and people ripping/pulling on them when in the engine bay. Bowlsby harness fixes alot of the Djet issues other than a MPS problem.
The Janbo tests all those connections and usually reports connects problems.
I bought my old 914-6 back from Mike Ryan. Anything going on this Tuesday? Someone fill me in.
I'm voting for the Mercer Island run, only because it's closer and I'm a little suspect of my alternator or relay board or something that may be hindering my car's ability to charge the battery to the correct voltage. Speaking of, does anybody have a known good relay board that can bring (and maybe let me borrow for that night) to test against mine to see if my charging issues might be stemming from a bad board?
when @6pm? i might be able to suffer the drive south center on a week night. military rd is slower but atleast the traffic moves.
As long as you guys are there for awhile, I'll make it to Auburn. I'm thinking that worst case I'll be at work till 8 in seattle. I'll just be one of the last people to get there. There's probably a good chance that I'll be done sooner, but I'm gonna go for pessimistic and say if there is some sitting around at some establishment I'll show up late. If there is a drive prior to or instead of, I'll miss it.
sh*t, I just ate at the new Thai place at Southcenter last nite. Lots of parking but I don't know any drives around there.
I was thinking that Mercer Island hadn't been visited yet by the Puget Sound Teeners based on your previous post:
But maybe you guys already have done that route?
Robert - look back at page 11 of this topic.
Good to see Dan and Geoff back in the fray!
well for the 1st time in a LOOOONG while my teener is down, since the enging build I have had NO time to futz with getting it running so......
Yall can drive up N. to help a brotha out
the yellow car? if so, i thought the engine was pretty new, and $$$!
Yeah, I maybe can sneak away to help alittle bit, Whats up with the car?
Hmmm I might be in for a trip north, all depending on how Saturdays goes on my side...
Nowhere to park the truck downtown or I would volenteer a parts run for you!
What Saturdasy at the xxx Rootbeer? Thats jsut down the hill from me....
quando il sabato è la riunione dell'automobile al XXX se voi prego?
Drie Parbo Jugos! Alstubieft!
heres the scoop on the XXX Saturdays
Its fun to see some cars and eat breakfast at the XXX and sometime they go on a drive. A month or two ago one of the 911's crashed on a turn so they go slower now I bet.
Have I menioned I love this place
Ok so the story goes we assembled the motor, (Thanks Blair) Troy and I got it installed, Chris helped as well but had to buzz.
Fried my pertronix equiped dizzy evan thought we both
verified it was correctly installed. Swapped Dizzys with a another equiped with points and fired it.
Exhaust leak and needs timing and dwell set, & adjust the valves again...?
Need a timing light which I dont have and perhaps some MPS tuning expertese
(Hint, Hint Geoff)
I received a replacement ingnitor from GPR just today (Thx Dave )
Was prepared to haul the thing to be serviced over at Gerber cuz I had been traveling consistantly for the last 2.5 weeks.
Geoff I have a couple of ECU's that should be fine,
Kev not so much $$ but time.
Im still uncertain that tuning the combo will be hard or easy =
1.7 base NPR 96 cyldr's KB pistons from Jake 2.0 heads and complete FI cept for 1.7 injectors (thx Witchhunter) and not sure but a 1.7 MPS.
Up for a challenge I can fire the BQ and supply the beer? All are welcome
I am also up for going Rich's to help with the car, or anyones for that matter. I will have to switch shifts at work to make it though. Wish me luck!
Have running teener, will travel.....just tell me where. Getting together for some garage work sounds good.
Ok Rich, I can make some time to tune the car with the LM-1 meter. I'll talk to Blair as he runs the software better than I do.
I think I have a ready to go 1.7L MPS I can bring to tune to your setup. Maybe after work this week during the week?
Welding a bung takes about a half and hour to do for the O2 sensor.
Adjust the valves and all that other dizzy stuff before we do anything as the tuning will depend on the rest being in spec. Should run like a champ afterwards!
Got my car up and running GOOD again. Just had a bad harness. Are we still meeting at Bahama Breeze, and then going to Rich's? Or is it right off to Rich's to get started?
Not sure if I can go yet but if I do I'd like to follow you Tacoma fellers up. I'll know for sure tomorrow.
99% sure The misses and I will be there. I can dig on at least one of two flared sixes to drive down.
Rich, it's been a while since I have been down your way. Can you post directions or an address?
Sorry, guys cant get the teener alighned untill Wendnesday so I will not be makin the trek.
Do not want to press my luck too hard with the wifey. Remeber, I take the ferry so back to back driving days are rare. Even more so when you have a bunch of guy over to work on cars!
laying low till the Revolution!
Rich, we need directions- or did I miss that posting? Or is there a public place like a gas station or something that we can all meet at so you don't have to post the home address on the internet? (you probably get enough junk mail already!)
Troy (messix) knows the way. Maybe he will chime in with a spot to meet?
he is workin today, so im not sure about his computer access....
Now is this Rich that is up in mill creek? Or seattle? I just remembered that I went up to a guys house up there for 914 work, and ended up being a few days late for the party! If it is Rich up in mill creek, I believe that I know how to get there. I have a really good memory still.
Jim - when are you heading up? Caravan?
Is Kevin coming also?
not sure about kevin, but if you want to meet up with me in tacoma on the way up, feel free. Just need a time!
Not sure if my schedule will let me make it, but I need directions and a phone # just in case. Please PM me - thanks.
Yep, Rich from Mill Creek area. I think you can get to his place by using either the 128th or the 164th ST exits. I just can't remember the cross street to turn on from there. I'd post my cell #, but since I can't remember the way, it wound't do much good.
How about we all meet up at the Bahama Breeze lot and go from there. I am sure one of us will know how to get there.
I know the way then. I use to meet up at the Round Table down the street from him with my VW club back in the day, so THAT part of the journey is pretty well set in my head. I still think meeting at a central location would be good and then drive from there since I dont have the address.
I'm located in North Seattle, so unless you guys are meeting north of downtown, I need an address of a final destination. Just as long as somebody posts something or PM's me before 4:30 with where to meet, I'll be there. Looking forward to putting more faces to names!
Bahama Breeze 15700 Southcenter Parkway, Tukwila 206-241-4448
I'll try to be there around 5PM if I can. Sounds like at least one of us will know the way.
Robert, Rich's place isn't too far from you. I5, 164th towards Mill Creek.... I'll leave it to Rich if he wants his address in the public forum. PM if you like.
I'm not going to drive down to Southcenter, then drive back up to the north end, in nasty traffic. On a weeknight, I'm hoping things get rolling at Rich's before it gets late.
What time at Rich's?????
Yeah, I'm not planning on heading south to go north. Looking forward to being able to hang out with a running car of my own! Will be there sometime before 6 (traffic permitting).
THIS JUST IN..........can't make it. Wife is directing graduation events and babysitter just cancelled. I'd bring the girls with me but, as we all know, only two seats. Damn.
Just as well - Mill Creek would have been a long (but fun) haul.
I am just leaving the boat now. Troy says he will be there at about 7. See you guys in a little bit!
Yep, me too as I can't go due to some graduation I knew nothing about!
Saturday is looking good for me to tune the bastard child with the LM-1 Rich.
This is horrible.
I was sure I was finally going to be able to show up! I'm still at the office 10:20 %$#@^#$$% PM!
When your biggest client needs a rush job ...
I thought Tax Accountants didn't have any work after April 15th.
Eddie, you got me beat. I got out of work at about 9:30, started at seven though. Love those 15hr days, almost makes me wish I got paid by the hour again, almost.
Is there something going on Saturday then, weather's supposed to be nice for awhile.
My plan is to go out to Rich's to tune the 1911cc motor on Sat. I'll hook up the LM-1 meter and laptop to do it along with a MPS that got the end opened up.
This still on Rich?
You bet. Pull the exhaust last night for welding. Ill work on the exhaust leak and dizzy before then.
Good turn out, Some new faces (to me) more BS than work cept for Dan
Ill post pics later today.
Any other that want to show up on Sat.?
Except I wasn't working on your car.
I wound up pulling over agian just after leaving your house. Timing was still pretty far off. But just playing it by ear, I got it within 5 degrees of total advance. I set it when I got home. The car runs MUCH better. Still likes to load up on feul anything under 2000 rpm's. So I think it needs some smaller idle jets. Get above that and it smooths out and just sings. I also did some more carb tunning and smoothed out the idle. It just takes time to set everything with a new engine. Can you believe by the time I got to I-5 I had things set up good enough I could break the tires loose in 2nd gear when I gave it a little "stab" to get on the freeway? Those R compound 275's were sreaming for grip.
I hope to make it Saturday.
That 6 is one amazing car. Wow. Caught a couple photos with my phone while Dan was moving the distributor a tooth to get the timing adjustment range he needed...
Another of the 6.
The after-meet-up ride was the best, although I really need to get my heat issue resolved. It was a chilly ride home (when is summer going to arrive around here?!). Great to meet all of you.
i am a regular at the monthly xxx drive in meet 2nd sat every month. but would like to meet some of the other teeners out here. when is your next getogether?
Saturday morning at Rich's as he is cookin!
Oh man, I might have to show up for that one too!
Oh boy, SoY burgers!
Costco Rich!! Buffalo patties!
Geoff not a bad idea ill have to chk that out.
Dan we'll put you to work on the LE next time.
Dino YOUR KILLIN ME! OK tommorow or fri. I guess Im taking a boat ride...?
Whats the fares up to now? Ill prolly ride around and take the Kingston back.
(insert Ferryboat smilie)
Meeting up in Bremerton again on Thursday? I am up for it! Saturday is good for me too Rich if your doin more work on your car. Maybe this time though visitors will lend a hand (me included of course). I have to work at 4 though. Still up for the drive though!
Sorry for the hijack, but I'll be visiting Seattle next month and wanted to see if you guys want to meet up for some grub. I started a thread in the sandbox. Please reply there as you see fit. Danka!
you should post a thread of it's own out front jen. dan, is that the car craig raced around your neighborhood and got me dagger looks (6 or 7 doors down was not amused) when it was my turn?
I am wondering what time you are gonna be ready today Rich?
Whens the party?
Give me a call....
Im up & workin
Anytime, I got plenty to do .
Dont forget the
Ok RIch where the address???
We gonna try again anyone? Instead of having to work from 0650 till after sunset. I might even have tomorrow off, but I gotta come in in the morning to find out.
Oh yeah, how'd the SoCal people get their post nailed with only two pages? Is that because there are more of them down there?
No, its because there are about 4 admins in Socal....none up here. We don't get any respect....
lets get a running total so we can scare the locals and get to Portland next week in style!
Ok, IT RUNS! Pretty well too. I was stumped and Jeff (sixnotfour) stoped by and bailed me out! Thx again Jeff.
Though I tempted fate and decided to take for a shake down run & break in the motor......Something bad happened.
Not sure but I think I pulled a head stud cus I was cruisin at about 4000
Limped it back home parked it and cracked a beer.
that sucks rich. better in the neighborhood than in longview. i'm so confused. the car you drove to camarillo no longer has the 2.0 in it, or is this a different car?
I think I could fudge together Old Smokie with the D-jet. i can't remember what all I have but, I think I can come up with a runner. Seems to me the only thing that is missing is a dizzy cap an rotor.
dave, got time for a chat before you go to church? phone lines are open.
Any of you NW folks want some tickets to the Historic Races?
I ve got some Im apparently not going to use since Ill be under the car....
First come first served.
Kev yes it the Yellow 73 but its the freshened 1.7 now a 1911.
Dave thanks for the offer but Im commitied to see this through,
I gonna go out now and try & figure our what up.
I hope its not REAL bad
if interested call me 2066508247
So what was wrong with the car before???
bad timing/light , used my light, and turned rehostat, turned it to center was far left . Had to open throttle a hair for it to start though.
Ran sounded good.
thought the "camarillo" engine was a "newish" 2.0 (gerber?). if it was a 1.7, i don't understand the tear down. it seemed to run quick and you didn't have any problems pulling the grades on the way home.
Inded something ...let go!
one of the rockershaft retaining nuts & wavey lock washers
decided they werent going to hold the whopping 10lbs of torque!
The nut may be wore out from looking at it. Problem is finding another
11mm on a sun.
I just went through this drill recently looking for simple tune up parts for the teener and not a single flaps caried all of what I was after.
The nut left some neat little ricotche markes inside the cover & head but didnt seem to cause any real damage.
Ill try to loctite it and if doesnt hold Ill start seaching.
Kev you must of missed a bunch of previous posts cuz we went into some detail.
2.0 came out as its the #'s maching eng. for the LE.
1.7 built to 1911 to replace. Maiden voyage ..bang. Up to speed?
man i knew i forgot one when i tourqued them!
Nah Troy it was just stripped. It would hold but just barely.
For good measure I chk both sides .
For any of you you dont have one, go out and get an
"inch lbs/NM" torque wrench. Much more acururate on the
small torque settings.
They were all on the light side, & one more was stripped.
Fired right up and sounds good though Ill do a oil change and valve adjust
heading for Portland.
right on. good to hear it's all coming together. hows the exhust leaks. didja have to loosen everything back up then sinch it back down?
that exhust braket was a b-tch to put on backwards.
rich, i have some replacement studs and related fasteners in some heads. if you need them call me and come and get them tomorrow or when ever it's convenient. i didn't know the LE was ready for an engine.
That's good news. Aren't those 7mm?
I have a set of the 8mm studs and nuts too in the stash if you need them.
"just needed timing lite and adjusting the reostat" WTF, can I get you to junk that reostat yet, Rich?
Let Blair and I know when you want to tune it. It will help if you drive down this way, heck drive it to work and then swing by.
Im riding the bike (insert Wheelie smilie)
Im fine with replaceing the knobage, as long as its tuned and purring.
Geoff you guy can have at it today if you want!
Just say the word Ill meet you and get it going.
Youll need to bring back one of those prepped MPS's LM1 and a NB computer other that shes a driver cept for tags.
I should have those today.
I do have a little time today. More on Wednesday and Thursday. I pm'd you my phone number. With the tragic drowning of my old phone in a pool in Sacramento, all of my phone numbers are gone. Bad for work stuff. Good for vacation stuff.
Talk to you soon.
Did Troy get the bumpers installed?
Just registered...are you guys still having local meetings in Lynnwood at Hooters? On Tues's?
Anybody know where I can find a complete car with A/C or a complete setup?
Post a WTB (want to buy) ad in the classifieds and you will get better responses.
Cheers and welcome, if you can, you should come down to Portland this weekend and meet the crazys in person.
They are a lot less scary when you seen them up close!
I was just hoping that someone might have the A/C stuff...ill post in the classified later today...I cant make the Portland thing this weekend...work...work work....
Are there any meetings on a regular basis in the Seattle/Tacoma area?
For a second there I thought that you were talking about B-ham, not B-town. I was starting to get all excited too 'cause I'm moving to Bellingham in a couple of weeks . . . I guess I'll still have to drive out to the peninsula on occasion then.
just a bump so's not to let this get lost.
any one up for a teener tuesday
sure, where?? or R U cookin???
Maybe at RichD's again so we can tune his car again??
RichD you cookin??
I won't have a 914, but might be up for another teener Tuesday. I am still waiting on my headers. But I have my engine back in etc.
Hey, speaking of which, anyone interested in having a get together at my place tomorrow after work? I have the WIERDEST Porsche I have ever owned. Picked it up yesterday for cheap. It's a Cab built in 1976, has fender flares and is a kit car. I have no friggen idea what I am going to do with it, but I had to get it just for the wierd factor.
Wanna know what it is? Have a get together at Root's tomorrow then. I'll fire up the grill.
well roots haus it is.
Not too sure how to get there guys. Directions? Address to google?
crap! can't make as I have another social event to go to...
Dirrections are easy, only two turns from I-5:
Exit 202 (116th St) Exit - Head East (take a right)
Go through stop light, you'll see a Shell gas on the left
Stay on this road as it goes over speed bumps and around corners
At stop sign - take a right
Count three speed bumps and take a left onto 48th
House is 12229
12229 48th DR NE
Marysville WA 98271
Hopefully see some teeners this afternoon/evening
I'll grab some meat to toss on the BBQ.
I should be around after starting now. I am thinking folks might start showing up around 5-6-7PM?
seeya 'bout 7ish
Just got back from the grocery store. Doesn't sound like many will show (2-3?) but that's cool. It's so nice out, I feel like just hangin, talkin 914's and eating food.
Headin up there now. Not sure when I will be there.
That was a cool find Jeff, so the super secret mistry car wasn't anything too special, just wierd and wierder as we looked at it more.
It's a 1977 Martini 924. But, it has a steel cab conversion on it. The rear deck is steel, wierd! Same with the fender flares and opening around the rear trunk. Car has a LOT of bondo in it though. Not sure if that was part of the build or fixes over the years?
Michelle checking the title again, what was this?
The whole story behind how Michelle and I got it was the owner was driving it along and it "stopped going". He got mad, kicked the drivers door shut breaking the glass and slamming the front hood open (to see what was wrong?) cracking the windshield and bending the front hood up. Later on we found out it's nothing more than a stripped rear drum. Car runs pretty dam good.
Jeff checking the 924 as we begin getting it off the trailer.
BTW - that trailer will someday be a real car trailer. I got that for free.
All 110 horses baby!
I wish I could have come. I finished with my last patient at 6 and that was just too late for that long a drive. Instead I went home ate dinner, fell asleep on the couch by 8 and in bed by 9. I'm ready to party this morning.
And as soon as everyone got a good look through the car and a bunch of "Wierd car dude." That pretty much ended the intrest in it. Back to the 914's with us.
Sorry you couldn't make it Dave, I think about 8 or so folks showed up. More than I figured, it was good times! Some really nice 914's too.
Driveway with 914's
Troy's 914, love the black/white look on his car.
Chris's 914, gotta love flares.
Last pic I took, my little monster. Almost done with it. Just waiting for the headers to arrive and it's done, again.
Who's white 914 in front of Chris's?
Looks like you guys had fun....just had something else to go to.
Jeff's (sixnotfour) 914-6. Good times, lots of hanging out BS'n about 914's and the wierd thing in my back yard.
Lots of fun. Many thanks to Dan and his wife for opening thier house for us to invade.
yeah we talked about your other rides too.
tell us about them. the land rover [he's into wine and cheese now] i'm gonna buy him one of those tweed hats that all the old guys in the wine and cheese club have.
Had lots of fun driving and BS'ing with all you guys. Pretty cool little cabriolet too Dan. And people thought 914's were bastard children!
Changed my signature for you Troy. Sportin the chosen name now!
Troy, get in the rover.
Another great teener tuesday. It was fun hanging out with the northenders.
Dan, do the cheap fix on that thing and get a major return on your investment! If that thing is driving, somebody might pay some decent bucks for it!
No, no, no Rand, it's "Troy, go sit in the Rover"
We drove it around last night. Yup, just a stripped rear drum. Runs out really nice.
So I am digging up this thread again. What do you guys want to do this week?
Also, Sometime towards the end of this month I would love to go on a cruise over to Leavenworth for some good ol' German brew. Preferably on a saturday or sunday. Figure if we plan that trip a little early, more of you guys would be able to go.
Depends on the weekend. I would love a "spirited" drive to Leavenworth. My wife calls it the facade place, but I might be able to rope her in if I promise to stop by the wine shops and the cheese monger. Next weekend is booked. Son is coming back from Alaska, Uncle is coming up for a wedding...and on and on. OH, and taste of Edmonds this weekend, going away party for a friend of my wifes.....no wonder I am stressed....Time to go out the frustrations.
i'm up for any saturday.
should we do carnation again? or any other new places?
Carnation was great. The first time Kevin mentioned it I wasn't so sure how good it sounded, but it turned out to be a great drive and a cool pub. I'd be up for that again.
Speaking of Kevin, I haven't seen hide nor hair of him in a while. You still here???
Any parks that any one knows of that have BBQ's? Thought maybe that would be something nice to try. I know 5 mile drive out here has a couple spots like that. Just an idea.
That's a cool idea Jim. We've been doing the park bbq thing quite a bit this summer. Got it down to a science...
Split up some kindling and wrap it in paper. Makes a tidy bundle that you can toss in, soak down with charcoal lighter, and torch off easily. Wrap the brats and shaved onions in tin foil and toss 'em on top. Oh yeah.
If its in Tacoma do we need firearms?
where's Kevin? maybe he's at the parade.
or we could do mercedes rock again [ aka mercer island for those not from the eatside.]
Can't make it this week - got company coming in that day.
Michelle and I should be in.
Yes, I am still around here. It has been a busy summer, so I have not made it to the last couple of teener Tuesdays. I will try to make it to the next one, and I am always up for the Carnation run.
And if enough people are interested, I can host a Teener Tuesday at my house which is just 10 minutes from downtown Carnation up on Lake Joy. There is a lake for a view, deck to sit on, a BBQ, and some nice roads for the 914.
I'm trying to get the house painted this weekend, but think the wife and I might be up for a run to carnation as a nice brake from scraping paint! What day/time?
Hey Rand, sorry I didn't call you back. I have your bumpers.
This Tuesday (15-August-2006) would work for me. If enough people are up for the drive, I will post the address. My neighbors could use a little excitement...
Sounds good to me! just need an addy for the directions.
i jsut mentioned it to sher.....we may come down too....
dan are you driving your machine?
can you pm me an addy to meeet at as well as a time???
i'll be there, just pm addrss. i can host the drive from the north end on back roads from my house. it wont take long but its a fun drive. i'll be at my house by 6:20 pm. just let me know who want's to run with the big dogs!
I'll PM my home address to the following people shortly:
So if you are not on this list, PM me or post if your would like the address. If Troy starts out at 6:20 PM from his house, he should make it to my house around 7:00 PM.
Thanks Kevine, got the PM.
Steve, if you and Sher come down, feel free to swing by my place first. I have to pick up Michelle at the house anyway. We can just leave from there.
Hey, I don't want to miss out on this. PM address and maybe if I am north, I can follow Troy or Dan down.
PM sent Chris.
Just got back tonight from a week long trip to Alaska - don't think the spouse will let me out tomorrow.
Have fun - catch you guys next time around.
How about Electric City for Teener tuesday?
Sorry ... We're on a family vacation this week to Steamboat Rock State Park (Banks Lake).
Too many funerals and weddings this summer.
One of these Tuesdays.
Maybe next Tuesday.
I will make it, but my car won't.
Anyone have a spare sideshift trans???
I grabbed burgers, chips, beer, and soda last night -- just in case any of you are hungry or thirsty tonight.
The house is down a gravel driveway, green metal roof, vertical cedar siding, on the lake side of the road.
so who is gonna run down with me?
I'm not sure I'm going to be able to make it.
Dang, it will be a fun drive. And I would love to see Kevin's place.
Give up the digits to the pad, and I will show up. Call me if I don't respond. I might be out doing something fun.
Looks like Im gonna miss, Ive got a conf. call STARTING at 5pm
with my Bejing operation (our tues. End is thier Wed morn.)
Have a on me.
Give me a ring with directions to your place. I will meet you over there.
chris i have a bad number for you. call me 425 418 8816
I just may be going soon
Quite honestly Im not that jazzed about it.
Our office is growing and Ive overseeing a move into new diggs.
Who's your bud?
just got back. damn kevin has a nice shack.
Mucho thanks to KevinE for hosting in his amazing lakefront home, and grilling up some killer bacon cheeseburgers with all the trimmings (mmm.... grilled onions rule).
Great to meet Pete Stevers too... and thanks for bringing some premium sausage for the grill!
I keep kicking myself for not having a better camera with me. Unfortunately all I had was the lame cell cam. At any rate, you may still be able to pick out Kevin, Troy, Chris, Robert, Dan & Michelle, Pete, and me....
The view from the back porch of Kevin's self-designed/built home.
so everone followed dan?
did ya get lost ?
Did you race for pink slips, Dan?
I swear one day mine's gonna grow up and be a six...
have i said how much i like highbridge road?
i was crossing the valley at the duvall- woodinville roadand had to look up at the stars, wow! what a night!
thanks kevin for hosting. anytime you feel like doing again i'm sure you'll have a house full!
knock it off dan! you know i can't do a conversion yet, and your not helping with stories like that!
oh, and we should do a saturday run starting at kevin house and ran the back roads around his house, then back for bbq.
dan dan dan....i wasn't using full throttle.....
it was sweet sweet music
two sixes screaming down the road.....
but that 2.5 really rocks.....and it was tight
gusese i am going to have to go on a diet
Really sorry I missed you guys last night!
How much wheel HP do those /6's have?
Now, in garage racing there is creadence given to claims of I wasn't using all I had. Steve, the only way to prove it is to blow his doors off. I'd sure like to see a grudge race.
I didn't even see troy pull off! Dan called me and told me. I went past RJames while on the phone with Dan . That turn about was a lot of fun. I saw Troy's car go whipping through it looking like his avitar. I love the "six" that is painted on the muffler of the red car. Kevine has a wonderful home with a great view. What a host! I think that we need to get in a saturday or sunday drive in before it gets wet again.
the moron of the week award goes to the idiot audi driver who burned a red light while we were turning left onto rt 2.
until next time...
i sprayed the "six" on for kicks before the wcc
honestly dans car is damn fast.....
we where right neck and neck, ithink i ve got a little more pull but not much....
and he had a pasenger too....
I was happy to have all of you out to my house last night. I'll pick an upcoming Saturday, hopefully before the summer is over, to have you out again.
And, my interest in a /6 car is heightened again...
yep, nothing like a six at (almost) full tilt heading out of the valley.
we have some new guys and some others that haven't been able to make the last teener tues. events. so lets get another one set up! any idaes?
I think I'm the newest new guy. Count me in. Just let me know where and when.
I think I can make this next one... So where is it gonna be at Troy??
Back at RichD house so we can work on his yellow car?
Rich ya in town??
I've got the OK to cavort with my fellow Teeners this Tuesday. I will travel.
Oh, and Eric -
I'm up for one. Just got back from Kevin P's place in Tacoma. Man, sometime we gotta get him to host something. Pretty cool place. What is it with guys named Kevin having such cool places?
How's the engine progress for KevinP.
I might be able to meet up this week, but my car wont. I am still havin trans/clutch problems. Where are we goin?
Wife's having a Pampered Chef party tomorrow night. Help me out. Let's get together somewhere. I'm off around 6 and heading north. Don't know what time I can be there cause of traffic but, i would sure like to hook up.
Maybe we can do something a little south this time?
Troy, master of all places local to travel, any thoughts?
kelty has talked about some place in renton, over on the west side of the airfield.
or we could do bahama breeze in south center.
Never been to Bahama Breeze.
Hooters at Lake Union or is there one at SouthCenter???
Bahama Breeze sounds good. never been to one of those.
I'm in for tomorrow night. God forbid any red-blooded male 914-owner should have to sit through a Pampered Chef party!
Can we get rapid consensus on place & time?
Dave - you need a wingman from Tacoma to ???
Let's do it, Bahama Breeze, 7PM sound good to everyone?
Confirmed, 7pm Bahama Breeze.
Sounds good! I may be a little late but, I'll be there. I may be able drag along an old friend. Morgan wing man is great. We can meet at the 20 th E exit. I'll get an exit #.
dan should you follow me down?
i can lead a return trip up north along lk wash bv up to leschi then out the arboritum along sandpoint to lkwash bv agian thenon up thru lk forrest park, people can peel off to their nieborhoods along the way.
Hey, I can make it this week. See ya'll there at 7:00.
Sweet! Looks like this will be another good turnout.
Oh yeah Troy I NEVER get lost.
I5 and 405. man for some one who makes his living off computers ..... maybe google.
i would like to be there...but can't make it...
maybe next one .....
How about 6:15 at the corner of Port of Tacoma Rd and E 20th st.
See ya at 6:15.
I just got back in town and won't be able to make this Teener Tuesday. See you next time...
I won't be able to make it either. Trying to get the outside of the house painted before I leave for Greece for a couple of weeks. But if y'all feel like moving the party to my house I'll supply the paint brushes. (Don't worry, I won't wait up!)
Have fun guys, hopefully I'll make it to the next one!
you kids have fun... I am keeping my no Tuesday Nite fun going all summer!
Just got back from Camping so I will try to sneak out for this one. All the way down to South Center......backway here I come.
I was late!
Couldn't find a single teener in the lot.
Do Teener Tuesdays last longer than one hour?
sorry eddie. it got moved to red robin down the road 'cause bahama was packed with a 2hr wait.
had a nice drive back. sorry eric for pulling a couple of dans'. it's been a while since i've driven down in the "hood" after dark.
Bahama looked awfully full!
I didn't have any phone numbers to call and check ... my oops.
I drove down Southcenter Parkway and tried to find teeners in restaurant parking lots. I even drove through a few lots like Outback and Azteca. Unfortunately, I did not look close enough at Red Robin.
You lost my cell number?
I even made this one...but left at 9PM. Following Dan Root behind the tiltup wharehouse buildings was fun!
Got to meet the new guy Eric and his wife and look at the Gold car. Still gotta locate a set of 4 bolt Fuchs!
Good to see all the regulars and even Troy who was way late.
Hey DaveHunt, what kind of oil are you running?? Those pistons did seem to have strange wear....
I forgot my camera. I saw Eric's wife taking some pictures. Hopefully some will get posted today. Fun stuff!
Troy, Pull a Dan? WTF is that suppose to mean?
Troy, no worries - I enjoyed every wrong turn. (I love brown interiors, so your car was my favorite one there.)
It was my pleasure to meet all of you - I'm bad with names, but let me see if I can remember:
Kevin (4 of 'em in the garage - and helped me with my headlamp relay issue, thanks!)
Dave (Silver - thanks for letting me use your tools!)
Dan (Blue - my wife liked the robust look of your flared fenders - and was glad she wasn't the only lady there - but I can't remember your wife's name. Michelle, maybe?)
Morgan (Red - your story about getting halfway home when you purchased your car really cracked me up.)
Chris (Old-School Porsche jacket - didn't get to see your car... good to meet you!)
Marc (Blue/Silver - were you the one who mentioned to my wife the deal someone had where they would give their wife a matching cash payment for every dollar they spent on their 914??)
Geoff (I don't think I got to see your car either - or talk to you much... good to meet you, though.)
sportlicherFahrer - I'm having difficulty remembering your name... Jim, I think? I was glad to see a 914 enthusiast under 40 years of age! Good to meet your freind, too.
I might have forgotten one or two. There was a guy with glasses, sitting at the other table, who spoke briefly with Dave about Ford cylinders - sorry, I can't remember your name. Cool 914 hat, if I recall.
Yep, my wife got 2 or 3 good photos, but it will have to wait until this evening before I get them posted here.
Again, thanks to all for welcoming me into the club and including me in my first Puget Sound Teener Tuesday. Taking the "long way" around Southcenter Mall to Red Robin was a blast.
And I think you ALL need to buy rubber bumpers. Waaay too much chrome out there.
I tried the number I've had for years. Greeting didn't sound correct. I left a message anyway.
Sent you a PM.
Great to meet you as well! It was sorta strange "rollin with the homies" as I headed out. I saw a 80's buick with 24' rims and low profile tires. That thing had more diff clearance than my Bronco had! See you all again soon.
Nice time last night you guys. I got home about 10 and all the ladies were gone. Turns out they bought like $680 worth of kitchen crap. I found out my wife bought a new set of pots and pans on top of that. The good news is she said I don't have to buy her an anniversary present (Ya, right like I'll fall for that trap). Course the bar is lowered considerably and I can probably get by on some little bobble. Anyway thanks for saving me.
You know how it works Dave. Come anniversary time if you say "don't you remember those pots and pans" the next thing you know you'lll be sleeping in the dog house.
BTW - thanks for bringing Kevin with you. The sounds and smells of all those 14's will certainly motivate him to getting his off the jack stands.
So what would the ideas be for the upcoming Tuesday? I don't know how the drive was for everyone else, but Jim and I rathered enjoyed our shortened commute from Puyallup/Tacoma. Maybe somewhere in the Seattle area once again? How does Pegasus Pizza on Alki Beach sound? Just tossing out an idea, if anyone has a suggestion of their own please speak up.
Pizza at Alki Beach sounds good to me - I'm in! Just let me know date, time and place, and I'll be there. In fact, I can't wait!
For some reason, I cannot post the pic from last Tuesday. I've tried a dozen times - it just won't work.
Well the date would be a given.(this upcoming tuesday) Far as time I figured 7:30 or so.
But we'll see who else chimes in here.
On Alki its either Pizza, Mexican(2 spots) or Dukes (we have done that) or the Alki Bakery but no dinner fixens. Too bad Chris Reale isn't around anymore he could get us a discount!
don't forget spuds fish-n-chips!
alki would be fun if it wern't for sucking parking!
I purposely forgot to mention Spuds as its not so good anymore unless you love 30wt on/in your chips/fish.
Iffen you want fish/chips I hear the Sunfish down the block is real good.
Parking always sucks on Alki but such is life as the view is good.
Monique and I walk or rollerblade there alot.
I should be able to find everyone this time ... since Alki is five blocks from home!
Lets have Eddie cook!
i second that motion!
Why don't we skip dinner and catch the ferry to Bremmerton and take some of the roads to one of the other ferry's and then back around to Seattle? We can pick up and drop off people on the way around. What do you think? Out where we should be. driving.
I like that whole ferry/driving idea best of all.
I'll take the ferry next Sat to Bremertons AX, thank you.
any drive sounds good as long as its not on a dirt road.
Wow Just got back from a week in Whistler and it looks like I missed a lot
On a positive note that is one F'n great road, I was in the S6 packed w/family and roof full of Bikes and I still had a blast dicing with a couple of characters up and down the mountin Was constantly on the look out for (Motor) Bikes as they scream up and down the "Sea to Sky" hwy. at breaknek speed (which if you arnt carefull is exactly what youd get! )
For anyone who hasnt been up there during the summer it was great!
My son and I did no less than four 10-14K rides out of the 7 days we spent there.
The other days we were Hiking
Perfect Weather and a very athletic atmosphere have really spurred me to amp up my excercise....ongoing.
Welcome back! I am glad family vacation was great. It sounds like a highway that we would like. Maybe a run up north for the weekend to visit our norhtern brothers and a day trip up and down the mountain.
So what am I cooking tomorrow night?
I just might have to show up this week.
And Geoff, we keep sending you down the dirt roads BECAUSE you keep falling for the snipe hunt!
Everyone up for something in the Seattle area tomorrow? I apologize for my lack of attendance last week. However, leaving town ended up not being an option for me.
Depends on the weather. I have to be home early becuase my son starts high school in the early AM on Wednesday. I would be up for a couple of hours of hanging out.
Ah yes. I forgot about the "back to school" thing. I get to enjoy two more weeks before I start fall quarter.
And Chris, I haven't forgotten. I'm going to see if my girl can swing by the bank in the morning. Wasn't sure if tomorrow would work for you or not.
I'm off work at 6; so add commute time from Puyallup onto that and I'm free from there on. Anyone know of any funky and or cool places in Seattle for ?
there is a good burger joint in mukelteo just down the hill from paine field. good parking, and run down to the beech by the ferry dock for sunset pictures, and then run up scenic muk. bvd to everett, to the freeway for home bound.
Alright. Mukilteo it is. I'm thinking 7-7:30 meet up?
And were you talking about Z's Burgers on Mukilteo Speedway Troy?
We'd probably be up for something local like Muk burger joint.
I'm a maybe to show up
Schools starting for Zach, busy at work, life is a bitch.
but one a brighter note, looks like I might be going back to Suriname for the Winter
Sorry - open house at the school tonight.
Sounds like fun.
Actually, you guys just reminded me. It's my son's first day back at school today and his first track meeting is today as well. I probably won't be able to make it.
Lets do the burger place up here. Troy, can you post name and address? Who ever can make it cool!
No teener tuesday for me.
Open house at one of the kid's school this evneing.
Have a great time.
yup Z's burgers 84th and muk. speedway. north east side of intersection, next to gas station.
off I5 at hwy 526 east, past boeing plant. right on 84th, down hill, right at light, then right into Z's.
I won't be able to make it this week because of the compressed work week. Have fun.
BTW: Thanks to the VW/Porsche (or Karman) engineers who decided to place a hole through the body (to the front trunk latch) so that I could release my front trunk after the cable broke this weekend. And, thanks to this forum for giving me that information...
i'll be there by 7pm
So the drive home was short. It was good to see Jim and John pull in from the south. John is on his way home chasing Jim (or showing him the way) in his new 914. Good Luck John and welcom to our sickness with your own car! Now for my next project......
This sucks! I missed someone getting into the "sickness" of owning a 914. I picked up my son from school yesterday and hung out for his first track session. Man, I kept wanted to toss on my running shoes and join the fun! (Insert running smiley).
Next Tuesday should be back to normal hanging out with the rest of the nuts again.
Yep, Jim took the 914 for a test drive and couldn't believe the differance hard mounts make. He came back with a grin from ear to ear. I haven't heard from John on how his drive home went, but it should have been a blast.
I dropped my son off for his first day of high school this morning. Sorta scary that it seems like yesterday he was just entering elementry school.
I just took my car off the jack stands a week ago with it's 2 liter. Need to do some FI and timing tweeking but it sure runs better than the 1.7. I will sure try to join in next Tuesday.
Yeah Chris, I heard you sold your 914? Whatcha ya gonna get next? That orange one Jeff has?
MIKE!! We gotta talk. Didn't realize I had a 914club brother in town (be nice if there was a search function on member locations). Sounds like I'm in the same boat as you - currently with a 1.7 but rebuilding a 2.0.
Not that I can be of any value but let me know if I can help in the "tweeking". I think I have some available time this weekend.
on Jim! Way cool. I have to say that you are putting down a lot more rubber than he is and that does help on the launch.
I am talking with Jeff about the Orange car. We will talk again after he has the motor in and it is running. So, Tueday might be a Passat night for me.
i may be able to make out next tue....
what is being planned?
going to try to bring sher along! lets-see where do i hide the scrap-books
Next Tuesday (Sept 12) should work for me. The town of Snohomish would be a good destination, especially Fred's Rivertown Alehouse (good food).
Count Michelle and I in for Tuesday. Snohomish is a cool place. Name and we'll be there.
I can make it on Tuesday too.
i should be there too
Its early but count me in!!
Haven't driven her in three weeks and a drive to Snohomish would help stretch out the legs.
Anybody else from the South end heading up that would like a shadow?
Cool. Hope to make it.
I'll definitely be there!
John glad you got a 914, remeber its older than you are. Chris is On the orange car , All works out .
cant make tues. going here. see ya .
Thanks! Great to have joined the family.
And don't worry I remember that the car's got 15 years or so on me.
Hell, that's one of the things I absolutely love about it.
Well, enjoy the tech show and we'll see ya when you get back.
Fred's is family (and young girlfriend) friendly. Just keep her out of th bar...
"short red-light green light race in puyallup". start saving for your backup transmission, sourcing cv joints, and the "comparing speed" tickets. look for a few rear trailing arms for when you put your car into a curb. ask jim how much fun that is.
Bummer yet another out of town excuse.
This time its Santa Barbara Might have to look up Zois.
Chris so did it sell?
Jeff are you talking the Pumpkin?
Geoff when are we gonna finish tuning tht MPS on the 1911?
Kev git yer car off jackstands and joing the crew sometime.
John Welcome Live life ...its good to burn it sometimes!!
Yes on the sell,
Yes on the pumpkin
Find twisty corner, select gear, go!
Looks like I will be on the road Tuesday & Weds and won't be able to get home to pick up the 914. Have fun.
MORGAN, It's great to see that there is another teener in Oly. I was feeling a little lonely. Hey, I got the tweeking done and she runs great. Tuesday would have been a nice run to see how many nuts and bolts i left loose.
Wish i could be there the meet tuesday but sadly I won't be.
Come out to the PCA AX at Bremerton and play. Its where you can let it all out. You learn how to drive too and be humbled by the experienced guys.
So it's Fred's huh? What time on Tues 9/12? Maybe I can make this one? Eddy
i should be there about 7-7:30, have to go to daughters soccor practice first.
Are the WA ferries teener friendly? I will be over in the Bremerton area on Tuesday and was thinking about taking the ferry instead of driving around.
Mike - good to hear you're running smoothly again. Hope you can join us next time.
Hey guys! Geoff referred me to this site and these gatherings you host. Check my sig for my cars. My 914 was a SUPER find...
I'm very active in the 928 community, and partially with the 944 turbo guys, and now just starting with you 914 lot. Its directly relative to the amount of time I've owned the cars .
I live off of 196th in Lynnwood, close to the mall, so getting to Fred's is as simple as 524 to Hwy 9, to 2nd. I'll be there tomorrow!!
Look for a 20s guy with long'ish hair possibly in a white 928.
How many will be attending?
I will be there for tuesday change of schedule. Were is it located this time? Its my first so I would love to go before I have to leave my 914 again.
Cool! I will be there around 6:30. Looking forward to meeting more teener peeps! I will probably be in the Passat. Rich, are you going to be around?
Fred's River Town Ale House
1114 1st St
Snohomish, WA 98290
Yep. I posted a http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=1114+1st+St,+Snohomish,+WA+98290&ie=UTF8&ct=clnk&cd=1 above.
see you all tomorrow night. i'll be there about 7-7:30
Wow, I live not 5 mintues from there, see u all tomorow! Is that PM or AM?
Well, if all goes well, I will be pulling up next to John(rockinoldschool). I am also looking forward to meeting some new faces!
This week is starting to sound like a good turn out. Michelle and I will be there. I am guessing almost 15-20 people now?
Can't make it. Parked waiting on parts. Have a good time guys.
CAn't wait to be there and yes 19:00 is correct.
Same old sh#t. Burning oil like a 2 cycle, Leakdown is 55, 40 50, 58% across the board. Rings, rings, rings. Part of this is one me though. I followed the instructions on the KB website and what was supplied with the pistons. Top ring gap was set .028 and lower oil scraper to .065. Jake says I shouldn't have touched the rings. No instructions from him though and he was in France. So, out it comes again and apart it comes. No sense driving it anymore until it's fixed. Sh#ts getting old. It's getting close to becoming an anchor.
There I feel better now
Ouch, sound like its been a pain. Look forward to my eventual breakdown.
I will not be attending again, big Suprise there? Doug Hanson is coming over this evening to pick thru the goodie pile because he bought the red car from my yard!
I just might make one before the weather changes...
Dave, you can "store" that anchor overhere if you are sick of looking at it!
Dino, too bad as we could use a good story. Troy's are getting old.....
Wait until Troy spins off about the time he burned up this guys clutch.
Oh man. Troy, are you ready for this? I'm feeling for ya already. Be thinking up some good embellishments, because I'm thinking a lot of people are going to be poking fun at "clutch killer" tonight.
There is now a table reserved at Fred's for 10+ people tonight starting at 5:30 PM, and they know that many people will not show up until after 7:00 PM. The reservation is under Porsche 914/Kevin.
Cool, thanks Kevin!
Kevin, that is great! Thank you for thinking ahead!
Yes! It was great meeting a bunch of new people and chatting. Good luck Virgil! See you soon. Meanwhile, your dad can bring your car and hang out!
Take care everybody and have a safe drive home!
Great meeting you all! Seems like a good group of guys who aren't like the 911 bitches. I don't roll with them anyway, I just pass them on the PCA drives
You guys seem like the 928 guys though; I think both groups should meet up for a schmooze and cruise sometime. Both groups seem like they'd mesh really well.
Anyway, it was a decent turnout and good to meet some real friendly and kick-back people who love Porsches.
Can't wait to get my little guy on the road!! Trying to turn one of your own into a Shark-lover (928 owner). Bring a new light to your Porsche appreciation .
If theres one next week, I'll make sure I bring some horsepower this time. No lame ass Contour.
That was quite some drive at Sunset up Highway 9 outside of Clearview. Corn fields, fields of mowed hay, lots of cow crap smell, ahh the country. It was pretty and my digital camera had dead batteries! I hadn't been to Snohomish in awhile and its changing fast it seems.
Lots of new faces, Barry and Virgil ( with family in tow), Dan and Michelle, Rand, Chris (a wannabe), Eddie, Kevine, Troy, and the owner of the gold 914. God I am terrible with names...and the barmaid was sweet! (what was her name?)
Barry, let us know how it goes trying to get the engine going on the 914.
Virgil, good to meet you and your just a Raby engine kit away from 170hp!!! Don't Subie it!!! Thats too sweet of a car to convert. PM Lawence (Rusty) he can talk about his experiences in the army with you.
Now we have just got to get you to put of real muffer on the 914. Maybe a Triad or Bursch.....
Where was Rich D????
Yeah, very good times! Virgil, you and your Dad have a great 914. There were some new faces and I love that. The AleHouse was a great spot to meet and much some good food.
Barry, feel free to bring whatever Porsche you have running. I think you'll find as long as you at least have a 914 on jackstands, your "in".
Eric, great to see you and your wife made it out to another gathering. That color on your 914 sure grows on a person. Looks great!
Chris, what is the deal with your car? I thought you said you drove your Passat or something? It was parked next to mine last night? Did I miss something?
There was some chat about having an actual driving event maybe on a weekend. I think that is a great idea. Sequim was mentioned.
I think Matt was taking pictures last night?
Eric, Eric, Eric...... Your so one of us!
I continue to veto ALL new house plans that Monique designs that don't have a 2 car shop/garage....
IF I am going to build it, it has to have space for a stacking rack ht wise too!
Not too many fights over this......
Had a fun time at Fred's so it was worth the drive.
Hi Dan, My old car was parked next to you last night. John and Lindsey (sp) the new owners showed up late with Jim and Sabrina.
My son now thinks that he needs a car to learn how to drive and autox.Gonna have to keep my eyes open for something as he is growing up way to fast.
So, since I have achieved wannabe status I think that my next trick will to bring my wifes saturn and go race it...
Have a great week everybody
Nothing like a four hour drive with a pit-stop in the middle for good conversation and a cold brew.
Sorry I was late. I'd blame Jim and John but I think it was my fault.
Hope this works:
Next time my wife gets me in a photo, I'm going to make sure I'm not standing at that angle, so close to the door handle. Makes it look like I'm overly-excited about the man's 914.
That's it - they didn't turn out as good as I had hoped, and I had about 6 more, but the setting on the camera was for mega-pixel, and they won't load onto the forum.
We need a good, well-lit, staged line-up of cars next time! And speaking of the next time...
Where at? When?
edited to add: How about a... DRIVE?
Sh*t, that WAS a drive for me...over an hour to get there in the Boonies!. It was fun and why the heck did you take a pic of me looking at the "Custom" goofy muffer?
A weekend drive sounds great to me. I was thinking about suggesting the same myself. Only I had Leavenworth in mind. But I'm cool with any destination.
And Chris, you wouldn't believe how excited Lindsey was that you spelled her name correctly.
Sounds like you all had a great time.
Work sure gets in the way of good times. I am sure up for a DRIVE this weekend or another get together next Tuesday.
When and where?
now that we were un-nailed......
Whats the plan for this Tuesday?
Somewhere south of Everett?
Hey, how about at Jeff Hines place??
Michelle and I would be up for something. I still think we should do something on a Sunday that is more driving than eating, not that I mind, just would like to stretch the legs on the old 914 a little more.
Monique and I are up for a Leavenworth via HWY2 or something more curvie say to Winthrop? Weather depending of course....I ain't driving far in the pouring rain but anything sunny sounds good.
I was east of the mts (Goose Prarie/Yakima) trying to get warm all weekend, 65F is barely warm but better than Seattle rain. Gawd, I am getting to be a cold weather wuss.
I'm going to have to pass this week boys. Have to spend as much time as I can with Lindsey before she moves Friday, and i'll be in Bellingham all weekend.
Not to mention I'm going to be tight on cash soon thanks to work cutting all my hours due to the fact that they want me to live, eat, sleep and breathe walmart and they find limited availability, due to yours truly attending college, unacceptable.
so.... here's one for walmart!
yep, I won't shop at Walmart. Just another major corp who rips off people IMHO. no health care etc.....
Yeah, to me that is the problem with Walmarts, Homedepots, Lowe's...crazy schedules that mean they own you. My BIL has worked for Eagle/Lowes for years and its always a no show for him due to his "schedule". can't plan shit...
Workers have a life or rather should and aren't dirt.
Sorry Jeff! Hoping we all could meet out there sometime.
I guess its time for Troy to choose another burger place to eat at.
We PNW'ers haven't admin to represet us sooo....32 pages isn't gud enough to merit nailed status....
SoCal has a couple
NorCal has a couple
hell, even with 2 members the Netherlands has a admin!
Can't do anything tonight (My Mother is in town) and no go for Sunday as I will be at the Seahawk game.
I would like to do the Leavenworth run. Next Tuesday/Sunday looks promising.
I am skipping tonight....trying to catch up on life.
I'd love to go for an extended drive - Leavenworth sounds perfect - next Tuesday works for me (I have a 5:00pm - 6:00pm physical therapy appointment though) and Sunday too, except I attend Mass from 11:00am - 1:00pm.
I can always change my P/T appointment and attend Saturday Vigil Mass to accomodate the 914 road trip.
Sounds like tonight is a bust. We'll have to plan a fall "Over the Pass" drive on a weekend coming soon.
Sounds like I did not miss anything tonight... I am in St. Louis this week. I am looking forward to a 914 road trip.
Well, if any of you are interested, especially you guys in Gig harbor, there is a bit of a get together for puget sound boaters at Tides Tavern this friday. Some REALLY good island type music(Jimmy Buffet sound) LIVE startin at 7pm. I will be showin up around 5 or so with my family. Really nice place to eat/bs. It will be a little crowded due to the artist(Eric Stone) that is playing, so I suggest gettin there a little early for a good table. Whos up for it???
anybody getting together on the 26th? Should be nice topless weather... South sound?
Check in time, please!
Can do!! So, where we meeting Dino?
Suggest we make it a drive first to enjoy the weather???
how about the Spar in T town? the drive around the waterfront is pretty sweet!
I'll do something in T town. Or how about the Tides in Giggle
I'm driving the 914 to work Tuesday so it would be great to head up north. The Tides would be a good place. I can drive back around Highway 3 and make a good circut.
Morgan, Hey it would be good to meet you if you go. Let me know when you might head north. We might fight the nasty I-5 together.
I drove the teener up to Seattle on Sat and was cruising Capital Hill with my daughter and passed another 914 headed south on 15th. He never even looked up. Don't know who it was.
Something on the south end would be fantastic. I'm down for Tides or something in Tacoma. I just got back from Bellingham. Helped the girlfriend and sister move into their dorms at Western. And I'll be going back to visit on Friday. I'm getting plenty of in so a shorter commute to the meeting would be fantastic.
Since I seem to be the first one up This fine Tuesday morning, I'm going to make an executive decision. http://www.tidestavern.com/ around 6:30 for a pint and some grub. you Oly folks can go home 302 . Wonderful road around North Bay. See you folks this eve.
if i get the axles on the jetta i'll be enjoying the bridge. jackson opens up for everyone at 6? the spar would be packed at that time of the evening. let's see who's willing to make the trek from the north end. oh...i forgot. the distance is shorter for folks driving from the south end. git er done. here's your sign.
I think the Tides would be fun. I SHOULD be able to make it over there. You guys all missed out on a good time Friday though.
is the tides no longer a *tavern*? minors are welcome too?
Count me in.
Mike - I'll PM you my phone number. Give me a call and we'll coordinate a rendezvous point.
Anybody hear from Al or Tim?
Anybody from Seattle/Everett gonna make the trip?
i'll call al and leave him the info.
I have been waylayed by the executive at home. She had made plans for us tonight, so again, count me out.
I think I speak for everyone when I say:
Will peer pressure help?
BTW - does anyone have a spare head light switch (74-76 model) that they can bring to the party? The dash light portion (dimmer) of my switch is bad.
Nope, Tides is still a tavern. No minors. Is that a problem kevin? Far as I know we don't have any minor members anymore from the sound area. (Jim's done all grown up) LMAO.
I'll see you guys this evening.
Did you guys have fun? Pictures please! I am still at work, so maybe next week
Good food, brew and conversation. And of course driving the 914 wasn't bad either. We had a small group that appeared to be cameraless, so no pics. This was the first time in a while that I had attended. I enjoy the discussions and advice. I drove back to Oly through Purdy, Allyn and Shelton. Didn't see any deer until I was 1/4 mile from my house. Those things scare the crap out of me! Anything you have to look up to from the seat would not be good if you hit it.
Anyway, it was great to put a face with Morgan who lives just down the road. Just let me know when you need some monkey wrench help.
Hope to get a few more nice Tuesday evenings before the rain settles in.
I'm scared -
After an ice cold pint of Mack & Jack amber, a bacon cheeseburger and a whiff of Kevin and Dave's Mahi Mahi fish and chips, Dave, Mike and Kevin almost had me talked into a Raby 2.6 engine upgrade!!!
I don't think I'm going to hang out with them anymore - they're Trouble (did ya catch the capital "T" - Music Man reference). Double trouble when you throw in John and Jim (and Sabrina).
Mike - pleasure to finally meet ya - look forward to future treks. You're a brave man taking "the back way" in the dark. Glad to hear you didn't end up with a deer in the passenger's seat.
Anything going on this Sunday???
Sorry I missed it, whether was perfect too.
Unfortunately I won't be able to attend any more meet-ups for a while. I'm back in school full time, and working full time at night. I'm gonna miss those awesome drives led by Troy.
Of course I'm also going to miss sleeping... ack.
ok so geoff tasked me with the next location for teener tues.
so i'll make it in snohomish at the buzz inn at harvey airfield. i'm coaching my daughters soccer teem and tues. is pratice day so this is the only way i'll make it.
So Im kinda thinking that us south sound guys could maybe meet up down here in Tacoma/Oly/Gig Harbor. We have quite a few places here in Tacoma that have good stuff on tap, and even better food. The Rock, The Swiss, and The Harmon just to name a few. Also, within a walk from my boat is The Dock St. Landing that a few of us went to back in June. They have some GOOD $3 cheeseburgers on Tuesdays along with live music and pool tables. Not to mention the water front scenery.
I could do a Snohomish run again.
i will check and see if we can come...are jeeps welcome....
If Pete/Steve is coming maybe I can rouse Monique into driving up there with me.
yup we are coming!!!! we will be driving a jeep the teener is....on jackstands...
sher says what ever i want....
i want misses K to jump out of my cake...36 years oh no!!!
SOT but the new kid needs some help. http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=61364 Im planning on dropping by this eve but Im still stuck at work (Dont evan ask! )
I was gonna try to go over on Saturday. Tonight is out.
well then should I delay till tommorow and If'n ya bring the LM1 we can finish tunning the 1911?
snowflake has problems too. i drove it up to b'ham today and went to start to come home and nothin . bumped it to start, drove home , did some investigating , and then the smoke excaped ! looks like i did'nt get the back 8 or is it 10 pin connector on the relay board on right and the wire to the coil burned up . it'll turn over now but no start. i think i also melted in to another wire or two. so i'll be trying to sort that out tomorrow.
unless some one has one of the harness's laying around.
Good luck today. I am going to get some more sleep. I have slept about 18 hours all week, so I have some catch up to do. About the same amount of sleep last week. A couple of very rough weeks at work. I hope to see you all tuesday.
so where are we meeting? someone pm me details....
dan are you coming?
i can't race you this time.....
Wish I could be there!!! Project "914 ...ONE MORE TIME" has now begun. Right Geoff? God I hope!!!
HELLO!!! haven't seen you around in some time.
Hey! What a long strange trip it's been!
I won't be making it (unless I have major success with electrical clean-up and don't need to buy any new parts). Towed Pamela home this afternoon. All the way from the U District to Lake Stevens, with a strap, behind my Suburban. I got pics.
I plan on digging into it tomorrow. Electrical stuff I'll check first, then the fuel system.
By the way, I was doing some on-line pricing and noticed that Schucks was cheaper than Pelican for a fuel pump... but Pelican's is Bosch, Schucks is some off-brand ("Master", I think) - is there a difference? If (keeping my fingers crossed that I won't need to) I need to replace the pump, should I spend $30 extra for the Bosch?
Now John you just have to make one of these Teener Tuesdays..
pretty sure we are going on Tuesday.
Wow, there is a group of people in NW WA. My 914 currently needs an engine, but when it runs again I will have to get in on this Teener Tuesday thing. I could bring one of my Twentysomething's, but they like cool water and upright cylinders. Not sure if they'll get along with those air blowers. I feel tension as they all sit in the driveway viewing each other with contempt. Or I am crazy. I'll have to stay in touch with you guys.
your teener doesn't have to attend. just come on and join up with us. it's a good way to get motivated to get to work!
Yeah but if you attend you have to atleast bring a pic of your car and a couple of stories.
We won't kick your ass if you show up in a water pumper.
Evidence of it being up on jackstands is acceptable for admission. You probably won't even be questioned about that cause they all seem to want spend most of there time there.
I will have to pass this week. I will be white knuckling it in the dental chair. Have fun. Eddy
I'll have to live vicariously through pictures of the meet-ups for awhile, so someone take some photos!
BTW, where can one buy an Optima battery in Seattle?
Oh yeah, one more thing- for those that haven't replaced their clutch cable in a while, make sure you're carying around a spare! Just about to pull onto the on-ramp for the freeway and went to engage the clutch to shift and the pedal went right to the floor. Would have been an easy fix if only I had been carrying a spare cable!
I will be there in spirit. Work calls. Another Tuesday for sure!
GI Joe's , Action auto parts.
Ok, so what time is this Northend Teener Tuesday?
I have to drive about 1 hr but if Steve Peters can drive from Vancouver,BC I can do it.
Quadracer, you should make it even without a 914.
yeah thats the place and time all right!
geoff can you bring that wiring harness with you? it's the one that goes on the rear most of the relay board 10 pin i think.
You want the little harness not the FI harness. ok think I have one.
Hey, where were you on Saturday?
lets see if this one works http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&saddr=seattle+wa&daddr=airport+way+snohomish+wa&ie=UTF8&z=10&om=1
Too far for me from Oly this time.
Hey this morning I saw a beautiful 914 headed south on I-5 just as I merged from 101. It was a pearl white with flares and some big dual exhaust. Haven't seen it before.
since we're not nail worthy
Anyone know if Chris is attending this week? I need to talk to him about some paper work on the car and would rather not drive by myself all the way up there just to find out he's not there. I've been running Puyallup to Bellingham to Glacier and back every weekend and that's proved to be more than enough driving for me.
Heck you should sign up for the FREE Raby 2270!
Steve and Sher are coming, Michelle and I are taking off in a couple minutes. No 914 though, I am missing my seats at the moment.
thanx ever one for showing up out in the cow country for me. i enjoyed another teener tuesday!
Was nice to see you all again. Good times as always.
Yep, took me and Monique 'bout a hour and a half to get there.
Not exactly a central location but its real close to Troy's house I hear...
Steve and Sher came down for Abbotsford, BC sans 914/6.
Happy Birthday Steve!
Robert the new guy showed up too (damn, he is like Silent Bob) Where was that list of questions???
Dan and Michelle in a BMW
Rich D in the yellow 2.0L
Sher and i had a great time...as always....
i will post incrimating pics later tonight...
Mrs k may be there next year....i think she needs more notice...
thanks for a great nite!!!
Raby kits are the best deal going IMHO for a kit you build.
Complete engine-McMark's 2056cc is a steal-125hp requires dual carbs or modern EFI
Jakes 2056 kit is approx $3500-can use djet
2270 is 'bout $5500 for now 170hp- modern EFI
so consider a stock 2.0L is 95hp at best any jump is good.
Dan's deal is ok for a six.
$3500 for a 130hp 2.2 plus you do have still a ton of work and $$$ to install it.
If you want 170hp a 2270 is a good deal but you still have to buy headers, probably a oil cooler etc....but you'll have a quality new engine.
six or four is a beat up subject.....
but regardless i have to say i love the lok of the silver flared car that was there....
i really dig the flares!!!....
but counselling on a engine ...well jsut keep it porsche .....
I have driven a 260hp 3.2L 914 and it was scary fast. Why do you need that much HP?
I can see the "I need a newer powerplant", but I don't buy the 300/300 I have to have for a DD.
My son, Blair had a 300hp Turbo2 RX7, and what a beast with that much power.
Who are you going to race on the clogged freeways around here? The average speed seems like 20 mph.
Good times! Michelle and I had a great time and love seeing all the old and new faces. Teener Tuesdays will live through the winter!
Yup, Michelle and I have our 914 down without seats until we can pick up the new ones from CAMP914.
I still think we should do a drive to Leavenworth on a weekend. Anyone check the forcast for say this Saturday?
sunny and 66deg
Hey ...... Are you all still gertting together? I want to join. Will someone please PM me and let me know when the next one is?
Lets do the next one in closer, say in........
Mojito's on Roosevelt has lots of parking, killer steak or chicken.
76th NE and Roosevelt Way NE
Lets do Mojito's like Geoff suggested? How about Tuesday, 10/10 at 6:30 PM? It is easy access I-5 northbound and not too difficult for the the way up North guys. Someone second it. Or is it third it? Eddy
I will be in Seattle all day so this works great for me. I'll just have to take the 914 to work - Bummer.
Just make sure you guys post some pics- full time school & full time work is going to keep me out of the meet-ups for awhile! I'll be lucky if I find the time to remove and replace the broken clutch cable this weekend.
Although I probably won't be able to make it anytime soon, I vote for a drive to Leavenworth some time. Or a group trip to Camp914 to drool over Craig's merchandise.
I not traveling this week so I should be able to make it.
i can make by about 8pm if'n y'all will still be there.
Im out until further notice guys. I have a new job and I have to work Mon-Sat. evenings. Maybe a weekend excursion to Ranier or Leavenworth sometime.
not sure if the teener will make it. i fixed the harness and car still wont start. i think i blew the tach when the smoke leaked out of the harness.
never mind.... it's running now, just couldn't let it go. went back down and found blown fuse on relay board and like a big dummy left the air valve plug unpluged, got it started, new points and cap, timed , dwelled, running like a champ.
Its not going to run with a blown fuel pump fuse.
Glad you got it fixed as its sunny today and tomorrow...
No Teener Tuesday again for me this week -- I am in Minneapolis.
Sounds like a great place. I should be able to make it.
Seattle's out of my range tonight.
Any interest in crashing Kevin P's house for tonight's Teener Tuesday? I have an ulterior motive - loot Kevin's parts stash to help him raise $$ for his traffic infringement.
(sorry to volunteer your pad Kevin - you can overrule of course)
let me know what time so i'm sure to be home, and swing by morgan. i'm not going north either.
bring #s and come dig around john. if i have the one you might need, you can plug it in on the spot. i'll be home morgan. later is ok too. traffic around ft lewis/mcord will suck prior to 6. komo 1000 is your best friend for road reports.
Here is the link for tonights (10/10) dinner. http://www.lacasadelmojito.com/home.html
I called to try to let them know we are coming but no answer
See everyone there who can make it. I will be there by 6:30ish. Eddy
Not tonight. Wife is out of town on business. Kids need parental support and the teener is still on jackstands getting new rear wheel bearings, six bolt 951 CV joints, 911 hubs & Phase 9 mufflers.
Sounds like a great place for a gathering ... not to mention great weather.
Sorry I wasn't able to make it guys. Forgot that I had previous dinner arrangements with the relatives from back east. Maybe next week.
Great food and conversation.
I learned more about those little rust bubbles by the door handle and how I might have to cut half the side panel and sail panel out to fix it. Oh well i'm statrting to look for winter projects.
I had my camera and forgot to take it out. Next time.
Did I say the food was good. Traditional southern south american. Reminded me of my days in Brazil.
Let's try the Tacoma area next week. The hour and a half home was not too bad.
you guys must not have looked at rtalich's (rob) car too closely at the first snoho gathering. i saw it yest. nice, nice car. there are a couple of VERY interesting features. "what does that button do?". slick...
michael, check restoration design for the sail panels.
For those from the South end, well anyone that's interested actually, Jim and I will be meeting up at The Dock Street Landing Bar & Grill in Tacoma tomorrow evening at about 7pm. We can make it a South end meeting for anyone that's interested.
Mapquest.com has good directions.
Here's the address:
535 Dock St, Tacoma, WA
When following the mapquest directions, once on Dock St. the parking lot will be at the far end of the first building on your left.
Hope to see some of you there.
Anybody going. I think i'll sneak over for a libation. I need some fortification. Engine drop tomorrow, getting ready to tear into it again .
i think i'll swing by for a while. i'll bring your stuff . remember when the place was named *Skinheads*? it drew an interesting crowd. then the thea foss went all upscale.
Kevin - can you bring one/both of your light switches with you? The one I picked up doesn't work either and I'd like to try a third switch before I assume that its something other than the switch.
Hey guys, had a great time as always.
kevin, just wanted to once again say thanks for the rain tray and drain tubes. the tray's already on and the tubes are going on tomorrow afternoon.
Now that the car's doing good mechanically it's time for me to finish my targa seals and start sourcing my missing heater parts. My beanie really doesn't make the best defroster. LoL
Hope to see you all again soon.
How about a Teener Saturday?
IRDC Lapping Day at Bremerton Raceway next Saturday 10/28/06.
Great bargain and I know most Teener owners are into bargains - $60! All you need is a helmet and a valid drivers license. A 914 wouldn't hurt either.
Hope to see you there. We can always finish up at the Tides in Gig Harbor afterwards.
Hope to see you there!
Engine's out and front shocks are off to Koni.
Stop by for a ride! Usually a wide mix of cars.
Might be able to sneak behind the wheel of of my rat rod.
Hope to see you there.
Can I bring a Caterham 260 CSR or Noble M400? Larry
Hope to see you there!
It was great meeting you at the BSSC lapping this last summer.
Thanks for the ride in the Caterham.
What time? I may be able to make it. I am going to Port Orchard that night for a Halloween party, so its just a matter of $$$ and a helmet for me and my girl since I will be out that direction.
Gates open at 7:30am, Mandatory Drivers Meeting at 8:45, first cars on track at 9
Hope to see you there!
So what is goin on this Tuesday guys? Maybe somethin around Seattle/Renton?
Any Teener Tuesday action this week?
Well. We can run something last minute if you want. We just need a place and time. I think everyone's been rather busy recently. I know I sure have been. Hence the lack of suggestions this week.
No can do for me. I've got a work related dinner to attend.
Ive got parent teacher conferances this eve.
Pegasus Pizza & Pasta on Alki in Seattle. Jim and I will both be there. Anyone else that's interested is more than welcome to show up.
Pegasus Pizza & Pasta
2758 Alki Ave. SW
Wife's out of town. I have to ride heard on the younguns.
7:30 in alki. you guys are crazy. don't get cold. your heat is sitting in a box in the garage.
Looks like a go for me! Joining us Eddie? Last time I saw you, I had my old car and you had 2.7L(?) shrapnel in a ziplock bag.
Pegasus on Alki?
Kinda a long drive ... must be ... almost 10 blocks.
See you there at 7:30!
Hey Eddie, jim and i are running a little behind. We'll probably be there around 8.
I was all by myself from 7:35 until 8:10.
I guess I better head back down!
Sorry about showing up so late Eddie. Still had a great time though. Good food and great convo as always.
Well, I'm off to Bremerton for lap day. Hope to see some of you guys out there!
Bolting up a case and cleaning up then off to Bremerton. I should be there by 11, hemet in hand and looking for a ride. Will be taking along and extra pair of boxers also.
I hope Jim took it easy on that tranny I fixed for him!
Yeah, I have run there before. Great fun and you get lots of seat time and don't have to stand around on the track running to get cones.
I rode along with Jim on his first session.
The weather was a little messy ... damp track and a bit foggy.
He picked it up pretty quickly. By the end of the session he was doing quite nicely. By the middle of the day when the track dried out, he was having a great time.
Three teeners was a nice turnout. Hopefully more will will show up at future events. IRDC usually has two or three lapping days every year.
there have been quite a few pictures added to the thread in the paddock. for those that don't visit there too much, you should give it a look.
Had a blast yesterday! Eddy's car is damn fast and I know now why I want a 3.2 in mine. Jeff's car was doing really good as well.
That tranny did GREAT Geoff. No grinds at all. And best of all, I didn't break a thing on the car. The pads are just worn a little bit.
Good to hear it is finally fixed and you had a good time making runs.
3.2! heck build a 2318 four!
Yeah, I dont think that I would be satisfied with a big 4 anymore. I've had a ride in a big 4 car, and its far from how the 3.2 pulls and sounds. That, and I would rather have the reliability of the stock FI 3.2 than a strung out 4, not to mention the HP numbers vs. $$$ spent are quite a bit more attractive for the 6.
Yeah, I've driven a high HP 3.2L setup by Fordahl and its way fast. Nearly as fast as the money flying outta you bank account to setup....mega$$$
Ya can build a hipo 4 yourself witha Raby kit, not so a 3.2.
i wanna ditch the trick or treaters tomorrow night. who's up for a meet?
Well, if you put a manual, tools necessary, and the parts in front of me I am sure that I could build that 3.2 with no problem as well as that 4. I just wouldnt trust myself doin that kinda work with the money spent. As far as Fordahl building a car, that would be VERY expensive. My 3.2 setup will be considerably cheaper than thiers, and will probalby be as much or less than a big 4 setup with a lot more power than a big 4(roughly 200+ at the tires). I will also have little to no tuning required, as it will be stock FI. No megasquirt to build and no jets to size. Just nice, reliable, daily driver 200 HP without a problem.
As far as Tuesday goes, Im kinda short this week Troy, but maybe next week. The $80 that I spent this weekend at the track was a big hit from the wallet, but well worth it!
No teener Tuesday for me tomorrow. Trick or Treat with the kids comes only once a year. I gotta enjoy it while I can. They are growing up scary fast!
Maybe I'll have a more reliable fuel pump by next Tuesday.
Yup. Not happening for me either. Doing an oil change and overdue valve adjustment tomorrow afternoon and going to stay home and enjoy the nice warm indoors.
Need to source some more heater parts. Still not warm enough.
If you can source a good 3.2L complete for under $5000 you are damn lucky. I have been looking for 3 years on and off again in the Seattle area. Good ones are snapped up by the local 911 guys to swap in for their tired 2.7 or 3.0L.
To do it right the parts alone to do the conversion will cost nearly $5000, oil tank, oil lines, flywheel, tin, bellcrank, heat exchangers, engine mount etc. Its a drop in only after you modify everything to work.
I know I am not up to doing the engine work on a six but I'd like to try one day soon.
I started looking more and more at Raby stuff when he hit 170hp outta a 2270. Now he is in the 200hp range with a 2270 and when he get the roller lifters working its gonna be in the 220hp reliable range plus weighting 150lbs less than a six.
I can't meet this Tuesady so count me out.
Wait 6 months and I'll blow your mind!
Nada for me.
Not gonna work for me.
when are you going to post a thread of your new car? i wonder how many folks drove over for the "car will be available for viewing after 12:00", only to find it was sold.
No go for me tonight - got two excited little munchkins that need chaperoning.
On a good note - my 2.0 crank came back "in spec" (whoo hoo) so I just need to get my exhaust valves from Jake (as well as cam, lifters, bearings, etc) as well as the bore alignment complete and I will be set to reassemble. I may just get this rebuild done before WCC07 yet.
Ive got a lineup on a 3.2 for less than $4K complete. And I just remembered, I think I have your hat that you left in Snohomish Geoff.
your extra parts tranny is outside too waitin for you to pick up.
I'm up in Bellingham now. . . Anybody still interested in a North end gathering, or should I just try a new thread so I dont hijack this one?
Bad News, I will be in Sacramento for work on Tuesday. good news, I am no longer a poser....
Probalby next week I will be able to make it.
Michelle and I have been out for a little while. My new job has me working days/nights/days/nights. F'd up, but tons of fun. Plus, some "buddies" of mine wanted to see my 914 in action in a parking lot. Yup, after getting some new halves for my front rims, I am back on the road. Dam curbs. One nice thing about the 3 piece rims is I changed the offset on my fronts and removed the wheel spacers. Put my scrub radious back to normal. Feels better again.
No more dognuts in parking lots for me.
Cool! Glad to see more and more people getting back on the road.
Sorry to hear about your 914 John. I actually got my bug as a backup so I wouldn't have to worry so much about using the teener for a daily driver.
I just looked at my work schedule and realized that I don't really have a Tuesday free for a while. It'd be nice to meet some of the guys up here though.
Its been a few weeks! Anyone doin anything exciting this Tuesday? Anyone interested in grabbing some food/beer?
i'm up for something maybe up around here. cause traffic is getting to be such a b-tch
So thats 2 including me! Anyone else? It may be cold and wet, but I still drive the teener every day.
Snow Report 6" North Edmonds, power offonoffon
Got about 4" here. Spent the day in garage working on th LE after errecting my new shed Fri. Pwr hasnt gone out yet.
Oh...Jeff I want to look at that harness
bad weather = me working
I had to clean the shop Sunday so I could get the green car out of the snow and ice! Too bad for Ugmo, she sleeps OUT SIDE!
I've been spending my allotted teener time over a Dave's observing his rebuild.
Still hoping to participate in the Toys for Tots run on the 9th.
Hey Morgan I forgot the lower tins so, Wedsneday out come the pushrod tubes. No way around it. Oh well.
oh, man you're on your own unless it can wait until this weekend.
I just wanted you to know. THE LOWER TIN GOES ON BEFORE THE PUSHROD TUBES. Doh!
Looks like maybe we should have a snowball fight up north! *insert snowball fight smiley here*
So I think right now I have a new reason to flare my fenders! SNOW CHAINS!
SO anyone have pics of snow fun or carnage?
TRUST ME! I am stayin right where I am. I just got new tires a month ago, and they are basically dry weather only tires. They are kinda ok when its wet, but in this stuff I might as well have slicks.
Gotta keep this thread alive through the winter.
Re-did my front rims and removed the wheel spacers, then put the spacers on the back of the 914.
Also finally getting the heater hooked up. B&B SS header/heaters rock, but you gotta hook up the tubes to get the full effect.
I had a blast driving in the snow. . . I'd have to subie swap and run skinny tires to be able to have that much fun on dry pavement, and then I'd break more transmissions. Just went up to baker with the teener on Thursday too. I think I need a board rack for it so I can take someone with me though.
I finally got around to takin the springs off the rear trunk on my car. Now the hinges just need to be welded back into place. So right now it closes and looks normal, but I have to hold it up to put the top in. I AM crazy enough to drive in this cold weather with the top off. Got in about 3 hours today! I think the parents have a camp914 trunk shock kit on the way to take care of the trunk though.
It was great. I ran over to John's(RockinOldSchool) and told him I cut my springs. The look on his face was priceless.
Car looks great Dan! Jim, those steering wheels are still over here for you...
Dan those rims look freekin great....
i still have to tow gizmo home......looks like after christmas
how is the shop coming???
i am up for a day down there i can help on the rudimentary stuff....LMK
while the girls shop it up at pikes....
man, i'm not sure what happened but i think i had this really surreal dream, it's like the world spit into two alternative realities that existed at the same time.. just weird.
IT'S BACK! IT'S BACK!!!!!
THE WORLD IS RIGHT ONCE AGAIN!!!!
This was weird. I went a way for a few days, came back to 5 days with no electricity and no 914 site - then a look a like - then the old site back but new. WOW some weird shit went on during that storm.
I'd say...."they" musta got their fingers on some bud from up here.....crazy indeed...
i hope it normalizes now.....
Sorry to hear about all the strife on the board. This appears to be where the Puget Sound area people are hanging out, so I guess I'll remain here.
First, Merry Christmas, everyone!
Second, my 914 has been having intermittent problems (I think it is fuel injection system-related, but am not sure), so she's not on the road at the moment.
I am hoping to spend some quality time in the cover-alls with tools & manuals before the new year... and then meet up with some of you again on a Tuesday once she's up and running again.
Host a workparty event at your house again to get all the guys to work on your car and get it running right again.
just need beer and burgers.
I was just listenig to some 80's Rush ...Hemispheres!
Yep, we need a tech day for working on our cars... Anybody want to host? I'll bring some Braten, if we all pitch in, I am sure we could have a feast and more than enough cars to work on. Is anybody running down to Bremmerton on the 6th? Group run?
If you need help...and are willing to host a work party...before mine on the 21st of Jan...Im in...not sure I can help with your troubles...but I can try...and at the same time meet with some of you guys....
Where are you located?
Depending on when and where I can bring my djet tester and LM-1 meter to sort out the fi.
You guys ROCK. Thank you for the offer of technical help... I accept!
How about Saturday, Jan. 6th?
If that doesn't work, I can do it Sunday, Jan. 7th, but it would have to be after 1:00pm.
My car is at my brother's house in Woodinville, so I'll have to get his clearance on it (and use his bbq gear), but I don't think he'd have a problem with it at all. I will give him a call today.
If this time & place works for any of you, please let me know, and I can post the address & my phone number. Thanks again!
Time & place works for me!
We've been needing this.
Done....ill be there to meet you guys....and help if I can...or at least give moral support...LOL
Im a newbie too...so this should be fun...
Eric, once you get this all set up with your "bro" send me a PM with the address and the time....and ill Mapquest it...
Looking forward to it..
Just thought I'd chime, say hi, and subscribe to this thread as a new 914 owner in the Seattle area. I just stripped my car for a repaint so it is out of action for a bit, but looking forward to joinging you guys for a Teener Tuesday sometime.
fyi your teener doesn't have to be present to join in on teener tuesday's or for any of the work party's. just show up, it really gets tou back to a teener kinda mood.
Will I be shunned if I show up in my tail dragger?
So when and where is the next Teener Tuesday?
Lets do something around SeaTac so more people can join. Red Robin's again?
Well, if Sunday works for everyone else (and weather permits), let's have a work party at my brother's place (he's fine with it) in Woodinville on Sunday, January 7th, at 1:30pm.
I will have the bbq (and my digital cam) fired up. Thanks a million for helping me out.
I will PM everyone interested with the address & my phone number.
Shit, I can't make that as I'll still here.
Where is that Geoff, a "coffee shop"? I should be abe to make it without a problem. I will now more once I get home later ummmm..... today I guess. CA and AZ have been great.
How about a work party to fix my broken control arm?
The doctors keep calling it a fibula ... but in gearhead lingo wouldn't it be considered a control arm(leg?).
I broke it while skiing with my 15 year old son on Thursday. Surgery is scheduled for next Thursday. You can all come over and sign my new cast!
Looks like I won't be driving the Teener(or anything else with a clutch pedal) for a while.
Ah Eddie that's really bad luck. I broke the strut next to the control arm 1 time. 2 screws and a couple of months and I was good as new. The only thing is I have a dimple in my shin.
I'm no expert but I if I remember right That a pretty good place to break it . Plenty of bone to work with and it doesn't involve the articular surface.
Yep, the other night I went to a shop and for the hell of it. Did Korijo proud as I didn't cough.....I was with a bunch of friends wandering around on a Friday night in Amsterdam trying to stay outta trouble.
LOL. Speaking of Korijo... ANYONE heard from Dave or Kori???? I'm a bit concerned since he's been off the radar a while and I'm not sure how degenerative his condition is.
I think it would be super cool if we could connect with the bro and go do a work party or something!!!
I think it's about time he feels some support and good wishes from his 914 buddies!!
Anyone know anything???
Okay, instead of sending a bunch of private messages, I'll just give everyone my phone number right here, and if you can make it, please call me and I'll send you the address. 206-793-6518
The work party will be Sunday, January 7th at 1:30pm, in Woodinville. I've never hosted one (or attended one) - so I don't know what I'm doing, but I know how to bbq, and I'll bring my tools and parts and maybe some 914 guru will be able to get my car running!?
Thanks again, everyone.
I think there is only 1 rule for hosting. Don't serve reconstituted steak from Costco. You'll get a ration of sh%t. I hosted a party and served those a couple of years ago and I still haven't lived it down. I may make my way up if I get the Xmas decorations down.
What are we trying to fix? I've hung around the boards long enough to have all of the answers. The problem is matching them to the right questions.
I would love to come and join the wrenching or watching or eating. I am hoping to get my new sail vinyl on this week so might be able to drive the 914 - if the weather is not nasty. I'll check in later in the week.
Well, my car has been having an intermittent problem where the RPMs drop off to zero and the car dies.
I'd try to start it, and the engine would turn over and rev up for a second, but then die off again.
At first, if I tried to crank it over, if I was fast enough (had to have the engine compartment open first), I could hop out right after turning the key and yank on the throttle valve to keep the RPMs up, it would stay idling and drive okay (for a while).
Usually, after repeated starts and attempts, I could get the thing on the road again.
Back in October, it died and I couldn't get the thing started again at all. It seemed like a fuel delivery problem to me, but I'm no expert. It's an L-Jet 1.8 (1975). I pulled out the fuel pump - the connections were very corroded, so I cleaned them up and crimped new terminals on them. I ohm'd out the intake air sensor, and got the correct readings (per Haynes). I replaced the fuel filter. I removed the fuel relay plate - it was totally corroded and looked terribly neglected (which made me happy, 'cause I figured that was the culprit). I took off all connections and cleaned/wire brushed everything. I made sure all the relays were working (I swapped 'em out with the headlamp relays 'cause I knew they were working okay) and swapped out the governor with a newer one I had in my parts box.
After I cleaned it all up and reconnected it, it started up and ran pretty smooth for about 20 minutes, and then the same problem occured.
I let it sit for 2 or 3 weeks, maybe longer... there was a lot of heavy rain, and then we had the intense cold snap... and I don't have a garage.
I tried starting it, just for kicks, (during the cold snap) and the thing fired right up! I let it run (and defrost and heat up) for a while, and it ran great for several days.
Then... same thing.
And that's where I'm at. Part of the problem is that I don't always know what I'm looking at under the hood - I'm a rookie. I have downloaded every possible manual and article known to man, and someone from the forum sent me a CDR of all the factory manuals... but I need wiser, more experienced minds and hands to get under the hood.
I have a 74 1.8L and I know that problem. I had it happen to me in Woodinville last summer. After cleaning connectors, swapping relays etc. I ended up replacing the dual relay that is specific to the fuel pump, it is not like the other relays and Its not a cheap relay either. To test it, just jump a wire from the hot pin(pin that has power) to the pin that makes the fuel pump run(you will hear it run). Then start the car. If it stays running then it was the relay.
I live in Woodinville and I think I will be able to swing by the work party for a bit next week. If I can make it we can just swap my new relay into your car or if anyone else has a stock 1.8L they can do the swap as well.
Hope the helps.
Eric - It still looks like I will be able to make it up there. I figure I may be of pretty good help, as I went through my whole L-Jet system on my '75 in '05 before it wrecked. Hopefully Troy will chime in, as he has a 1.8 as well.
Eddy - Hope that leg isn't too bad! If you want someone to put some miles on the car, you know where to find me...
As to everyone else - Happy new year! If anyone needs any help with just about anything(not necessarily teener related) let me know!
My car has a D-jet so there may not be much similarity but I had the same problem last fall. Sometimes it would start - run for 30 seconds- and die. Sometimes it would start - run for 10 minutes - and die. After doing a lot of what you did I finally swapped out the fuel pump relay and it seems to be fine. Started and drove it yesterday for a warm up and it ran great. Good luck, those little gremlins are tough to run down.
Sick day? Come on man, where are your priorities?
i just might take a sick day, i've been sick as a dog since friday and not getting any better. being on-call doen't make it any better.
Call in sick man! And if you are out of sick days, call in dead! Sounds like you need and a teener day. Maybe this weather will go away by the weekend....
eric, when was the last time your fuel filter was replaced?
I haven't seen a cancellation notice for Eric's work party this Sunday so I'm assuming its still on. Can someone send me direction JUST in case I can make it?
I need directions as well!
Kevin - I installed a new fuel filter in October (when I was trying to troubleshoot the issue back then).
Take 405 (N or S, depending on you're point of departure) and then take the exit for 522E. The immediate first exit off of 522E is for Woodinville - don't take that one. Take the 2nd exit. The 2nd exit is for Duvall, and the road that the exit merges onto is actually the Woodinville-Duvall road. Stay on that road. Go through the first light (which is Hwy 9) and go up the hill. After a couple of immediate curves, you will keep going uphill and come to another light... go straight and continue uphill.
You'll come to another light, with an Arco and another gas station (Shell?) on your left. The road will turn from a 2-laner to a single lane right after that light (so keep going straight). The NEXT light (I don't know the street name) you will take a Left at. There is an espresso stand called Mack's Corner at that intersection. Stay on that road until you come to a stop sign and a 'T' at the end. Turn right.
About 30-50 yards ahead of you, there will be a Left turn onto a dead end, which is 170th Pl. That's the one, turn left onto 170th Pl. Almost at the very end of the street, on the left, you will come to a black mailbox that says "Hagelin" and "20221" - go up that driveway, and stay to the left (it forks off to the right, but that's not the house). Address is 20221 NE 10th Pl., Woodinville, WA 98072
You should see my 914 up there somewhere, and you can park anywhere that there is clear pavement, or in the grass. I'll either be manning the bbq or admiring my 914, or probably both.
Thank you again for your help, everyone! My cell phone number is 206-793-6518 but I just got a new Corgi puppy and he chewed through my charger cord, and my batteries are almost dead. Figures.
sorry guy, the wife just told me she has the day off Sunday. Have fun
Damn lucky f'ing Seahawks..... Woohoo!!!!
After THAT, crazy f'ing game, I'm sorry, but I cannot excuse Dino or Troy from the local 914 wrenching party.
Dino, tell your wife where you're going Sunday. Troy, tell your boss where you're going Sunday.
Right? Right? Hell, I figure the guys at CLUB.com would even cheer that! LOL.
Looking forward to a great Eastside showing for Eric!!!
How many people are coming? I offered to bring brat's and buns for all. Let me know. Call me at 425.328.5788 around 11am. We are still meeting at noon - 1pm? Or is my time off?
that address is not an accurate address.
but i think hes telling you guys to take wooinville duvall rd east to 168 av ne left or north to ne 195 st, to 170 ave ne.
if you can get past all the down trees!
Well Chris, ya have at least one taker for the brats! I still plan on being there. It will be good to see some of you guys again. It has been a long time.
Can't make it guys. Sick with the flu. Maybe next time.
If the address isn't working in Mapquest, it's because I put the "NE" in the wrong spot.
edited to add: Oh brother, I see that I left the "7" out of the address in my post above. It's not 10th Pl, it's 170th Pl.
20221 NE 170th Pl
20221 170th Pl NE
(I don't know where the "NE" goes.)
I woke up this morning to a pretty steady rain. If it continues, should we do it another day? What's the consensus?
It is absolutely pooring here in Puyallup....Like we should start calling for Noah....LOL
The water is three feet from my back door!
Are we working on your car outside? IF so...then yes another day would be appropriate...LOL
Let me know...if we are still on....ill leave Puyallup at around noon....
steve, are you still planning a carb troubleshoot/work day? if so, you might consider starting a thread of it's own. the date will get lost in the *teener tuesday* thread. yep, it's raining like crazy. i'm on the high ground so no worries.
Yes, we would be working on it outdoors.
So... the list I have for people showing up is:
Chris - Yes
Morgan - Maybe
Sportlicher (James? I can't remember your name, sorry...) - Yes
Rand - Yes
Mike - Maybe
Kyle - Maybe
Steve - Yes
If everyone who has committed a 'yes' or a 'maybe' is okay with rescheduling for another date, that is certainly OK with me. I just would hate to reschedule it, and then have someone NOT check the forum and drive 40 miles for nothing.
So if you are planning on coming, or were thinking about it, and would rather reschedule due to the rain, please chime in.
(It is also possible that the rain will let up. I live in Lake Stevens, and it is down to a light sprinkle.... and I'm terribly excited about the thought of my car running again...)
God I hate to sound like a wimp....lol..but I am coming down with a cold, so working outside is not so good....
If you plan on resheduling...Im in....but today cause of the weather...and my cold...i guess Im out...
That's okay, Steve - no worries.
Anyone else out there (who was planning on coming) feel strongly, one way or the other?
(Everyone else was a "maybe", but you three all are/were "yes" on the work party.)
I'm OK with a reschedule (prefer it due to weather).
Bunch of weenies. I was planning on showing. I don't melt in this weather. I'll be damned if I let it stop me from doing what I want. Actually, it's only windy, not rainy here right now.
Seriously though, no big to me either way. I'll check back here for the official status report around 12:30.
OK, one positive 'yes' (even in a little rain) is good enough for me. Thanks, Rand. I will be there. If no one else can make it due to weather, etc., that's okay.
It's on - I will not be there 'til 1:00pm, though. I'll bring some sausages and rolls (in case Chris doesn't make it), and hot coffee will be brewing.
Weather update? I still plan to come if it isnt pouring/blowing like the dickens. Might be there a little later than 1 though. Where is Chris???
I am on my way. I will bring brat's and buns.
did you guys get the car to run?
I had to leave about 4, and it wasn't running when I left. This is a wierd one. the car was running when I showed up. Rand and Eric had used the relay from the headlights for the fuel pump relay and the car was idling nice. But after about 5 minutes, it shut off. It would then run intermittently for a few seconds and then shut off. You could smell varnish, but no gas. Jim found a wire that was burned up (connector fell off in his hand) and fixed that. The strange thing is that when the relay was put back into the headlight, the lights wouldn't pop up. we tried several relay's to the same result. If you hold the relay, you can feel it click, but then nothing. Any clues?
Thanks to all who showed up to help on my car - I really appreciate it.
No, Kevin, the car is still inop - but Rand and Chris got to witness the strange intermittent problem I'm having! She started up and ran/idled very smooth for about 15 minutes, and then completely, immediately cut-out without warning.
We checked a number of different components (fuel pump, injectors, relays, intake air sensor stator flap movement & ohm readings, etc.) and the gremlin is a little hard to pin down.
Jim pulled my ignition coil and dropped his in there, to see if that was the culprit, but my coil is fine... however, during that process, he found that the wiring from the ignition coil through the harness to the relay plate was seriously degraded. The terminal broke off in his hand while removing it from the coil!
I'm going to replace the wiring, and clean up all my grounds. If it doesn't run after that, then I'm at a loss on what to do next. Maybe Troy would have some ideas? (You've got an L-jet, right, Troy?)
Thanks again, guys. Time is precious, and you guys took some to help a brother out.
I think we need to get Troy's car sitting next to it and go wire by wire. the PO had some interesting wiring choices.
I had swapped out relays for the fuel pump before yesterday, by the way. I don't think that's what got the car to start and run/idle the way it did - because it will start and run fine (sometimes for days) - and then just cut-out mysteriously.
What WAS strange, was that I pulled the headlight relay (Rand witnessed my working headlamps) out and put it in the fuel pump relay.
I had several spare relays, and we put them in the headlamp slot, but the headlamp motors wouldn't lift. The lights came on, but no action on the motors. I thought maybe the relays were no good (we tried a few), and Rand pulled one from his headlamps, but it didn't work either. Weird, the headlamp motors were working fine ten minutes before!
Got to be some cheesy wiring in there somewhere?!
Damn thing sure looks good, though - even when she's sitting still and inoperative! I love that tempermental bitch!
i can come over on saturday with my car and a real volt ohm meter.
Sounds like a bad ground or where the four leads connect to the pos battery terminal.
slightly of our topic... I saw this in the Paddock, http://www.nhahillclimb.org/07_Schedule.htm There are two in Oregon and one in Idaho! Pretty kewl, huh?
I had a similar relay problem for the relay that operates the power to the blower, horn , and in my case the radio. Put relay in aftre checking that it was good. Worked one day , then stopped working. Finally found out that the female plug that the relay goes into was not soo good. Here is what I did to overcome the bad connection. Pull the relay and use a small wire brush to clean the socket as good as you can , take the relay prongs and try to slightly bend them apart ( spreading them wider, and wire brush them also. Did this to all of my relays and now - no more intermittent power problems.
Hope this helps.
ok guys, every one ok in this latest snow storm?
how about your commutes?
being a cable guy has it's advantages in getting around traffic, knowing where ever street in the pierce, king and snohomish county go to!
I'll be taking the teener to work today wife's car is in the shop and she bumped me from the DD. Slow and steady..wish me luck. Any word on the road conditions from Oly to Shelton?
Commute was a piece of cake
I was in Phoenix yeterday morn 74 degrees,
Arrive in Seatac 2PM by the time I drive to Mill Crk
its Snow/Hailing like the bejeasus
2" in about an hour.
I had to fly home early after having an
run in with an cactus while Golfing at the Phoenician
Commute was a piece of cake except for snow blowing horizontally across the Narrows Bridge. I came in and all the patients cancelled but 2. With the overhead I get to pay for the pleasure. Not the best day.
It was bad coming down the big hill to the ferry landing and Christine reports that we have no power at home! We also don't have a fireplace and the BBQ is out of propane. Not costing me anything but my "Be Prepared" motto is feeling a little tarnished!
good thing the beer is cold!
I made it home last night and havent gone anywhere since. Could barely get in the parking lot. Still no job(hopefully in the next week at a boat yard across the waterway) so I have no commute. Kinda wierd to see a foot of snow at sea level.......
It was Tuesday last night, so where did everybody meet and get drunk?
Didn't you get the memo? You were supposed to organize this one!
Seems we don't meet as regularly during targa season. Damn, I miss driving topless.
I but a beer in my pocket and hobbled out to the carport on my crutches and stared longingly at my tools and parts that need to get installed on the 914/6 ... fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure regualtor, switch panel, bigger brakes, etc.
I thought of all the jobs I could get done if I didn't have to hold crutches in my hands (it even makes drinking a refreshment challenging ... I was thinking of attaching a gimballed drink holder to my crutches).
OT: I'm getting pretty good at shifting without a clutch. I use my right foot to engage the clutch from a stop and then shift by matching engine speed ... just like the old days with non-synchro transmissions.
I might be able to make some sort of gathering in a couple of weeks after I get a walking cast.
Eddie can still flip burgers right?
Update: I worked on her for hours today - replaced that crappy wiring from the ignition coil back through the wiring harness, cleaned up every ground I could find, replaced several bits of other corroded wire connectors and old runs of wire...
...and she's RUNNING smooth again. My headlamp motors still won't operate (even though the lamps themselves are on) - and now the latest quirk: the tach doesn't work. But tomorrow I am going to bring her home from my brother's driveway, and then work on her some more... I need to get those headlamps working properly again, and get the tach problem figured out... then, MAYBE IF IT QUITS RAINING, I can get her fully dried out and back in action.
I am, actually, anticipating selling her this Spring (and after she's back in proper running order, of course). Half of me doesn't want to, but the other half - the half that has to figure out how to pay all the bills, and home repairs, etc. - thinks it might be better to wait a few years, get debt-free, build a garage, and then save up for another one.
I definitely want to get together for a few good Teener Tuesdays before that, though!
One more pic...
Happy to hear it's running again. Sorry to hear you're thinking about selling her. The tach issue is probably just a loose wire. Far as the headlights... Anyone else care to chime in here?
I agree, the weather's been on the up and up recently. Let's start getting everyone together again. My transmission in my daily is shot.
So for the time being the teener is my daily again.
OK boys & Girls. Stop on by the Homestead this Sun. for a bit of lite wrenching some heavy BS'ing and to entertain McMark whos visiting to deliver a long awaited bundle of joy .
Rich, you realize the pressure you're under??? You're gonna have to grill a killer burger you know!
Super cool. Hope I can make it out to meet McMark. And see that bundle of joy.
I may be able to make it. What time?
Sunday afternoon, yo.
Ok Jim... That means sometime after the old timers wake up and get stirring. Then they take their time to wander about. And check the fridge. And all that.
I figure 1:30pm is when the early bastards show up.
So I guess I'll see you at 1:39????
Um, ok, this is just the misinformed assumption quad. If you get updated real info, be sure and post so the SoCal gang can join us.
Wonder what time Rich comes back from church?
This oldtimer gets up at 5AM....
Remember I have 12-14 hours of driving to do.
I'm going to try to arrive up there between 4 and 6 pm.
Need a addy or map. I'll take a few hours away from welding and GRINDING. Gotta see my bud Mark.
if you can make it in 12 hours, you be flyin'. use the 205 to skirt p-land. be careful when you hit wa. speed emphasis patrols in effect. no mercy. stop by if you want a break before the push to mill creek.
dunno yet. i'll check with the boss. do you need a loose fuel filter bracket? if i can make it i'll be bring a engine case for transfer. it will save me a mid-week drive north in that damn 10:30 to 2 pm window.
ok, I think I can come out and weld it in as long as we talk about
You need a welder? I can bring mine. I've been welding 304 Stainless and have Argon in the bottle. I think I have some .30 wire.
There is the slightest chance that I could be up there around 7ish. You guys still gonna be BS/BBQing?
ill save you a burger
and if you get nailed in a construction (I-5 seems to be one continous these days) or school zone the fine doubles. 29 in a 20mph speed trap cost me $171. it's a very special ticket too. no mitigating circumstances, as in getting it reduced. you are either absolutely innocent or guilty if you want to go to court. i just surrendered and paid the fine.
I'll let you guys know for sure a little later. It is still up in the air for me.
Hey Jim, if you get this before you leave give me a call on my cell. I'm headed that way about 4 or so.
how did this go yest? did mark make it? you should start a new thread richard.
I was there until 5pm, helped Rich with the welding projects that DaveH and I kinda took over.
Mark hadn't shown up by the time I had to leave.
Burgers were cookin, beer was drunk so it was all good.
Who would ever want orange rims!
Rich welding on the fuel filter bracket....too cold of a floor to get DaveHunt down there.
by the way Mark was on his way south about 11:30 this morn.
i took him into snohomish for breakfast a the old farmers hang out.
good kid that McMark is
that's quite a bit of driving in 2 days. he'll be wore out. where did you have breakfast?
twin eagles cafe
So, Tuesday is coming up Troy, anything planned?
maybe we should go up and see what rootwerks has left of his last collection.
Dan calling Dan!
By the date on the picture , They are future owners
Day/Month/Year, but i gotcha.
iso vs din
Figured, but i had to say it anyways. LoL
hello .... hello come out where ever you are!
jason, sheridan come join us.
haha! Troy, you posted about two seconds after Jason did.
Jason, welcome and hope to see you at the next teener tuesday.
Ha, I beat all of you as I talked to him on the phone 45mins ago!
Jason, this is the throttle body so unplug the TPS from it to see if thats causing the problem
just reminding yoos guys
maybe we should have a saturday night get together
I'm getting ready to light of the 4 hole sh*t can again. Given all my previous luck with this thing it could have the potential to be entertaining. Having some buds to cellebrate with or shoulders to cry on could be a good thing. I'm still fabbing the heating system and I need to fit the exhaust, clean up, and install so probably the middle of March. I'll see if I can get Betsy to to get some Costco fake steak for Geoff and we'll do a barbi and down some suds.
I still need to run this by the boss and she is in Mexico so call this tenative.
Welcome Jason and Sheridan! Dave let us know. I might be able to swing by for a little while.
I'm up for a Saturday/Sunday - any weekend but March 10th & 11th.
I am also creeping closer to requiring a light work party to help install my work in process (valve train going in this weekend):
I may be able to make it Dave. Just need to know in advance(about a week or so).
Nice lookin motor Morgan!
Fake Steak Geoff. We remember how much you enjoyed it.
So this will be a NARS* BBQ?
*Not A Real Steak
How appropriate. Count me in.
Are we talking THIS Sat?
Ok, it looks like March 24 th at my place. Suds, fake steak, and possibly another menu choice. Hopefully nothing will scatter.
What about Jake showing up?
OT as its not about Porsches but it is in the puget sound area have any of you been to this http://my.break.com/media/view.aspx?ContentID=235976
I have been to this one.
There is a line sometimes....
That's the one featured in the story.
Yup and the Barista 'bout fell out of her outfit cuz she was leaning down to serve my coffee.
I was in the 914
i think we will try to make it down.....mind if we crash the party dave??
Steve, that would be great.
Anybody who can make it.
Aligator Soul this Tuesday March 6th at 6pm
2013 1/2 Hewitt Ave
Everett, WA 98201
I was hoping the local teeners might be able to help me out. I need a lower front valance for an early 914. I have a fiberglass one is great shape, but a I need a metal one in short order so I can modify it to work with my GT flares. Anyone have one they are looking to sell? Any leads appreciated.
looks like i should be able to make aligator tues. 'bout 6:20 ish
teener role call....
Lets get a number so I can make reservations!
I have 6 so far. Root family, Williams family, Troy.... Anybody else?
Sorry - can't make it - homeowners association meeting. Hot topics up for discussion that night like: "Can I build a shop next to my house so I can work on my 914."
Reservations at 6pm for 8. Be there or don't eat Cajun food
I can't make it tonight, the 914 is undercover until the weather is more predictable. Have fun.
More predictable than sunny and 70!
Its 68F and SUNNY in Seattle are you nuts!!!!
can't don't wanna drive up for 2 hrs so have fun boys.
Monique stole the 914 today to drive around and do "errands" as its fun. I wonder if there is any gas left in it??
Okay, it was a lame excuse given the current weather conditions. But, there was still snow at my house this morning when I left (and, I did look at the forecast)...
I need to buy new tires for my 914, and was wondering if any of the Puget Sound Teeners could recommend a good tire for this area and weather. Do you run 'all season' or 'summer' tires on your car, and how is the performance and ride?
The car is a stock 2.0 with 4-lug Fuchs. The 914 used to be my daily driver, but now it is more of a weekend/sunny weather car. Thanks.
Two questions, any get together plans for the next week? And any one have experience with a body shop they would recommend. I live in the Everett area and would be willing to go 50 or so miles if it was a good shop...
Ask rich D for that body shop he used to paint the LE. Hobby somethings as it was on Roosevelt Way in Seattle but now
i'm on-call again this comming tues.
if'n it's local [north end ] i can make it, sans teener.
Depend on what you want to do. Most shops today are in the collision biz, if you say the word "rust" they arent interested. Same with restorations, ONP Autohobby's is the shop and they moved down to Elliot a couple of yrs ago now.
Talk to Mike
hey dave....what time does the party start?......
.......looks like we may come down....
Steve, Monique wants you to bring some salt beef down. Can you?? It comes in a bucket and its in a brine. She makes a Caribbean dishes with it.
Monique and I will be down Dave. should we bring anything? Tofu burgers for Steve and Al?
is that this WE?
I think its March 24th.
I will be up in your neighborhood on Sat, Rich.
Help me tear down my engine 3-24. Who knows what we'll find. Free beer and food.
Read about it http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=69586
Maybe the free food and beer is in the engine and that's what's wrong
Don't worry Dave, we'll find it when we tear the engine down.
Well aint that a kicker
Mike IS kinda getting up there in yrs.
Anything going on tomorrow night?
I could go if something happended in the North End.
I would like to assure everyone that I am still alive and well. I have just been unable to get online for quite some time. I should be online a little more often now and maybe even helping with ideas for Teener Tuesdays again. And this season, there is no restriction to "family oriented" places for me OR my girlfriend! Hope you all are having a great Easter and enjoying the weather.
Well it seems that I am on the hunt for a 914 AGAIN. Tragedy struck at about 10:30 this morning when a Sentra decided that the driver's side of my car was a good place to plant its bumper. Then my car jumped a curb and cracked the engine blockand twisted various frame sections. Thats right guys, Dagmar has been murdered!!!
Anyone know of a good '73-'74 roller with NO hell hole issues, trunk rust, or other nasty rust that may or may not have an engine for me to swap parts into?? I will be building one soon......
Dude so sorry to hear.
Friday the thirteenth Strikes!
Glad you're okay.
I totaled my '76 (in '86). Thanks for the call regarding my '75 (Pamela) - she is indeed still for sale, keep in touch if you're interested. 206-793-6518 (cell)
wow! that sucks.
watch out for the ......... so what parts can i buy from you? lets see i need a hood and maybe some good shocks and springs, and those seats! and the rest of the interior, and i think it had ssi on it right.
oh thats right watch out for the vultures!
Troy, you have no shame....
I'm putting my six back together after a repaint and I need a good condition heater/blower assembly (broke mine taking it out). Anyone local have one they are willing to part with?
Brook I can prokky help you out.
who had april 13th in the "when will jim total his 914" pool?. jking. sorry hear about this jim. where did it happen? get your paperwork in order for the insurance co. see what craig has. jrust picked up another car and might have a spare. that blue w/red wheels ebay car might be interesting for you. shipping would be a hassle.
Jim - thanks for the call yesterday. I'm not sure if I was able to alleviate any of your grief. Its always tough to hear about a 914 family member meeting unfortunate circumstances. I know the Puget Sound Contingent will assist you in getting you back on the road again once you find a donor vehicle.
More importantly - Glad to hear your OK.
happened at 38th and tacoma ave. kind of a bad intersection. Sounds like I may have a couple line ups on cars, but Im not saying anything more than that. Dont wanna jinx myself! I have yet to hear from the insurance co. Should hear from them tomorrow. Have the Fox going again though! Thing runs nice for a water-cooled abomination...... I will have to get use to having heat right away though.
I will notify the vult-- Troy when I am ready to part it out.
Glad you are ok, that is one of the sickest feelings there are.
Not that I can make it to anything tomorrow but it feels good knowing 914's are gathering somewhere. Anything going on?
I would be up for a gathering. The Rat Rod Teener is running pretty well and the weather nice.
I've got the new sway bar installed, but I'm still waiting for my gas tank to come back from the radiator shop, and then I'll be installing new fuel lines. Oh yeah, of course I'm working until 9pm every night until June.
Flying to Orlando tomorrow.
I am out, family time after a long weekend.
robert, what is the rad shop doing to your tank? who's doing the work and how much $?
Just tried calling you. I took my tank to 'Puget Sound Radiator Repair'. They're at the intersection of 80th & Lake City Way NE. (206) 524-0886 (Just north of the U-district). However, my impression is that any radiator shop should have an acid tank and be able to do this kind of work.
Small 1 owner local shop. I was quoted $100 over the phone, but was charged considerably less since it took him a couple of extra days to get to it (4 days total).
The bummer is that he took it out of the acid bath last night, which meant that it sat in his shop all night and this afternoon gathering some surface rust again. The original plan was for him to take it out in the morning so I could pick it up and then get it back into the car and full of gas so as to minimize any returning surface rust. Regardless, I'm happy with the work and the tank looks a LOT better on the inside, AND there were no holes.
The outside will of course need to be repainted, which I hope to start tonight when I get home. I'm just going to use metal ready followed by a few coats of black por15 and call it good.
Let me know if you need any more info!
On second thought, don't go there. Go to a place that you can be assured that you can pick it up as soon as they are finished so it doesn't sit and start rusting in their shop overnight.
This morning I loaded 3/4th of a bottle of metal ready into the tank, and let it sit for 30 minutes. Then I flushed it 3 times with very hot water and then blew hot air into it until it was completely dried.
The whole thing was a PITA, but at least I'm done.
you guys up north should try one of the Buzz-Inns. best steak dinners around for under $10. i think you have 4 convenient locations.
been there do that often!
which one did you go to?
marsville, snoho, and the one in north ever rot. killer b-fasts too . never been to the one in eastmont. is there one in lynnwood too? i had a ribeye last summer in snoho and it was the best cut of beef i'd had in a long time. dinning on the deck @ harvey field is nice on a sunny day/evening. i'll be up for more gatherings when the silver car is motorvating.
saturdays really are best if you want to get more people together. i'd have to leave my house at 1pm (and that can still be dicey) to be on the other side of king county, not park the car on 405, and to be there in a timely fashion. ain't gonna happen. NEVER.
on what planet man? the wife doesn't get home until 5:30. i assure you she isn't going to want to drive to snoho for dinner. from my place to ne 8th in bellevue is 45+min with a wide open 512, 167, 405 driving just over the sl. i drove to snoho x2 every other weekend for years. i KNOW how far it is and how the traffic thing works. have you driven 9 from 527 to snoho lately?
I'm in... once the date, time & locale are carved in stone.
I spent last night driving my 914 around in the rain, so I am up for anything.
A *perfect* day. Upper 70s and blue skies where I'm sitting. The only thing that would top this day is a enjoying a cold brew after work with some fellow 914 peeps. What's up gang?
I've been home with a sick kid all day. Good thing the wireless reaches out onto the porch. Been enjoying the nice weather - while not tending to the sick.
Can't go anywhere (see above).
BTW - Happy Belated B-Day Rand!!
Ok you guys.... A week later and it's only nicer out. Mid 80s now. Warmer temps and bluer skies. I've been driving topless all week. Anyone up for a cold one after work?
PS... Thanks for the B-day comment Morgan. Hope your kid is feeling better this week.
What a beautiful day in Seattle! Of course rain is in the forcast for tomorrow...
Damn, I wish I didn't have school in the morning and work in the evening....
Although I did skip class today to put my car back together after the front sway bar install. HOLY CRAP what a difference!!
If I wasn't working until 9pm tonight I'd join ya Rand... I'm very much looking forward to summer break...
Hey Robert. As for the rest of ya..... Buncha slackers!
Got my front brake job done and did some body work on a front fender tonight.
Thanks for the call Troy. So next week, maybe we can try a Teener Tuesday at Odonnel's???
Is http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=odonells&sll=47.76136,-122.20566&sspn=0.100855,0.177498&ie=UTF8&ll=47.880319,-122.238436&spn=0.050312,0.088749&z=14&iwloc=A&om=1 the place???
yup thats the one!
i just got back from going to the grocery store the long way....27 miles thru the back country roads. great teener trip.
I'm in so long as work doesn't 'play' with my schedule again.
Always down for some good Irish food.
I drove the 914 around the last couple of days. Got a nice suntan/burn with the top off. Sweeeeet!
We gotta start planning a couple of get-togethers or even short drives. Yesterday sitting in the 80's I found myself making every excuse to have to leave the house and "go get something".
My boss will be back next week, so I might be able to make something...
Tuesday is rolling up pretty quick. Anyone up for anything?
sure....all the beer you can drink at my place!!!!
hell if any one shows...all the food you can eat too
i think we're trying to get to the new O'Donnels off of 128th st exit south everett.
looks like good food and drink! lots of parking around back.
i'm on-call again but i'll be there when and if i can. [about 6ish]
trying to leave me out there huh?
I work on sunday's !!!!!!!
thats MR CLUTCH KILLER to you there bug boy!
yeah but a Saturday is better so I can stay over as its a little far to drive all that and party at Steve's.
Is O'Donnels on for this Tuesday? 6pm?
"Clutch boy"? That is funny
Tuesday will NOT work for me. I'm planning on attending the NWARC (North West Alfa Romeo Club) Wednesday (05/23/07) evening lapping day at Pacific Raceways.
I've got plenty of work these next two evenings to get ready for Wednesday.
How about Teener Wednesday at the track? Should be a nice mix cars. There is the possibility of getting some rides on the track.
To short of notice.... It sounds like a lot of fun, but I have to be at the airport Wednesday early evening.
Yup, tuesday 6PM sounds great, hope to see some teeners there.
Hey Steve! Sounds like a Saturday in the neer future could find mucho many people at your place. You up for it?
nooz flash! ! ! !
I will not be attending!
Well, had some personal issues come up today and won't be able to attend this evening.
I'll try and make it out to Pacific tomorrow evening to check out the happenings. No cost if I'm just coming to watch right? Far as I can tell on their website they only charge if you're entering a car or if you're a second driver.
No cost to show up and watch. Track opens at 2:00pm First run group out on the track at 4:00 pm. Ends at dusk. Sunset is about 8:30 pm.
It never hurts to bring a helmet.
I'll probably be the only 914 there ... there might even be some Alfa Romeo cars there.
Small turn out, but cool to hang out with the "guys" again and talk cars for a while. Great food! We'll have to hit that place again sometime. Not bad $$$ either.
Forgot that the manager's been playing games with my schedule recently. I probably won't be
off in time to make it before dusk.
I deceided to quit my job! So I wont be in Seattle durring the week anymore. Where are you guys going next tuesday? It will be my last chance to attend!
Hey you people up north. Start planning to head down south on July 6,7 and 8 for the following:

The deadline is JUNE 1 2007.
Call 503-799-5794 or email email@example.com if questions, or ??
Hey Dino I'll buy the good cigars.....
I am planning on it. I will know more when my wife gets back.
Dino! You are on for next Tuesday. if you don't show, we will come put pink flaming flamingo's in your yard.
Sorry you couldn't make the Teener Wednesday Lapping Day. I was hoping you would come by for a ride.
Somebody had to be there to defend the honor of the Porsche 914. Mine was the only 914 there on the track, even though a couple of other 914 owners were there (Larry - LS6/914 and Jeff Higgins), they didn't have their Teeners there.
Way to Eddie.. keepin the faith.
are those the vintage Made in the US of A pinkies? BRING IT ON!
Anybody know who was driving a Delphi Green 75 on 1st ave Thursday evening?
I spoke with our local Canada Steve and he is willing to host a Teener get together some Saturday in the near future. I say we take him up on it and crash his place!
Anybody have a date in mind? Something out a little bit to give people time to plan. How about August 25th? Hey Steve, let me just plan a get together at your place for you!
just got off the phone with dan....
aparently i am planning a barbeQ...
i will talk it over with sher and plan a day...
i think a sat would work best for all
Is anybody up for a Teener Tuesday tomorrow (29-May-2007) after work? Pete's in Carnation again?
Please accept my apoligies for being antisocial at the Alfa lapping days. I was actually working that day setting up final boost and fuel maps for the green CanAm car. Yes the flames from the header pipes are normal during shifts. All did not go well during a missed downshift and overboost. Old age and trtechery told me to install a breakaway chamber for this purpose Larry
i'm on-call again so to far for me.
hey Dan you missed the colby car show! i got pictures of a turbo super beetle, very stealthy.
there was a 356a, and lots of realy cool cars.
good car show day!
But you did find my house, which is harder to find than Pete's Grill. I work on the eastside (Kirkland), and can meet you to help you find your way. I can also do another BBQ at my house... it's just a stop at the grocery store.
So would somewhere more North work for you (and others)?
yah, lynnwood on north to everett.
Do we need some hot wings? Know anyplace in Lynnwood? It is going to be really nice out tomorrow, so someplace with outdoor seating...
I would vote for WingDome on Phinney, but they dont have a parking lot.
Phinney Ridge sounds good to me! Lynnwood is tough to drive to at 6PM going north!
Post an address and I will swing by....
hooters in lynnwood is gone.
i 'spose i could use the company gas and drive to wingdome.
it's like 78th and greenwood right?
take the north gate exit, head west to greenwood, take left on greenwood, down a couple of blocks, on the left, old gas station.
So is this a go for tonite? Who all is in?
How bad is the parking at Wingdome in Phinney? I would be up for a Snohomish run (nicer drive than to Seattle) to Fred's Rivertown Alehouse.
I am in.
I will check back in about 5pm so I can see where we are going....
I would like to be in. My family happenings may not mesh tonight, and it's a little brutal getting there from here that time of evening, but I'll try.
Here's a map link:
[edit: ACK.... just got off the phone with the wife... Looks like I'm not going to make it tonight.]
I dont want to b self centered, but I just cant do a mid week run to Snohomish and get back to Bremerton still married!
I dont have 914 with me so, if you guys with the hot rods want to run out there, go for it!
Parking is on street and not too bad. Wingdom, that is...
what are you driving dino?
O'donnels is right of I5 @ 128th st. south everett. i wouldn't mind eating there again [gooood food!].
but i'll come down to seattle to break bread with you brother dino.
i am on call so our dinner might end up feastus interuptus.
Wingdom at around 6pm it is. See any who can make it there.
I'm leaving work in 10 minutes....the WingDome can be made to be on my way home....With any luck you're still there!
We just missed you. We have also decided that we need to push the time to 7-8pm start so more can make it. Any thoughts?
Sorry I missed it. I've been out of the loop for a while. I'd be interested in a weekend morning for breakfast and a drive somewhere. Anybody else?
Last nite was fun. It was a small turn out with only Dan driving his 914 to dinner.
We floated the idea of a Church of Formula 1 meeting on June 17th. That is also the end of LeMans (6am edt). The F1 race from Indy starts a 9 am local time, but it is on FOX so gawd only knows when they will air it.
So, chime in! I want Bloody Marys available and an unobstructed view of the screen. Other than that, I am W I D E O P E N!!!
Good to be back with the looney patrol!
We could also do F1 qualifying on Saturday, LeMans mid section.... Plenty of Rita's and Spicy Mary's for lunch and we can still all be home for Sunday's Father day festivities. Church of F1 is good for the soul. It starts at 10 am on Saturday followed by the Rolex sports Car series....
ok brothers, tuesday is supposed to be 73 and sunny.
shall we meet in carnation, snohomish buzz inn and watch people fall outta the sky, or some where else that we haven't been to yet?
we could push the time back to 6:30 or 7pm to give you guys down south a break on traffic.
I'm out. Had to give up Tuesday to be able to get Friday off.
Graduating with my AA... finally. lol
perhaps we should dine in mt. vernon.
Hey guys. I would like to join you all. This weekend there are autocrosses in Everett on Saturday and Sunday though.
Yes, it is at Boeing. They have the Saturday and Sunday AM and PM runs. It will be put on by Torque Steer. I know I could do Saturday, and I want to do Sunday, but I think that would have to be in the AM run group. If you guys want to meet up there it would be good to see more 914s there. Last week I was the only teener representing our group. Here is the link if you want to register. http://www.autocrossscorekeeper.com/register/wwscc/ Just found out I will be running Open Street. So that would be AM on Saturday and PM on Sunday.
i'm gonna try and make the a/x saturday.
kevin mount vernon sounds great! go ahead and pick your favorite place, i'll be there!
it would be a much shorter drive for our canuck friends.
last teener tues was kinda disappionting the only person from any where south of seattle was some dingleberry that rides ferrys!
What time is that over on sunday? I might be able to get the day off, otherwise I'm off at 6:00 or so. Not racing, just watching.
I will be good to see you out there. As I said before I will be running in the morning on Saturday. Should all be over around noonish.
For those that may want to go Sunday, if you run in the PM group in starts around noon and goes until 4:00ish. Hope to see a few of you guys out there.
Hey guys... I would love to meet up with you all soon. I just had a client call and ask to see a condo in Seattle at 7:30. I don't think I could make it to both. Let's do another one soon.
Hey Troy. Works for me. Traffic out Hwy 9 can be bad that time of night, right? How long you figure it would take from Kirkland/Bothell? What route would you take? Could go up Bothell/Everett Hwy and jump over Seattle Hill Rd if Hwy 9 is a bad idea.
What up gang? Going to do this? Anyone else going to make it? How 'bout it Jon??
Key Kevin (Rhodyguy).... This is much closer than Mt. Vernon. Plug that carb, throw in a fire extinguisher, and start driving!
Somehow I think the whole Mt. Vernon idea was a from the south-ender...... But seriously man, look forward to joining you for a brew one day.
My plans for tonight shifted, so I might make it out for a few.
You might want to take Woodinville-Duvall road to West Snoqualmie Valley (left), and then in to Snohomish on the backroads (it is a very nice drive). That's the way that I would go, but now I have a 6:00 PM meeting in Redmond, and I drove the 4-Runner today (a 60 mile drive to Mt Vernon on I-5 in rush hour traffic was not too appealing for me).
Unbelievable story tonight. We are still in disbelief... Of all nights.... They were filming a movie at Harvey field. And the humble old "Buzz Inn" became quite the hot spot afterwards. I can't believe this.... The luck of all Teener Tuesday nights. Nobody is going to believe our story about the skydiving babes, are they Troy?! Oh well. Unfreakingbelievable.
Troy! That stereo kicks. Very sweet setup. Love the stealth-factor. Thanks for showing it off.
Dan! What are you doing to your car now?? I thought that thing already had 911 front suspension?
Well, now I am really pissed at my client (not really). He wanted to see a condo that was worthless. I know it's my job and all, but I really wanted to go Meet you guys. Now I hear that there were skydiving hotties Well, I hope to make it next time. How many are planning on going to the AX this weekend?
i can't remember what all the filming was for, all i was paying attention to were how the what ever they were wearing was staying on! especially after free falling and chute opening and landing!
it just defies all engineering and physics.
where is my camera when i need it!
it was really cool when they had us in that one shot! i can still smell the coconut oil!
do you think that most were silly cones or real?
Please tell me someone took photos of this
sorry my phone doesn't take pictures.
i don't know if rand was taking any, i was kinda busy!
Bastard... You going to make it Saturday?
i think so, hope so, gonna have to get me and my daughter up and outta bed early.
I know the feeling. I have a 10 month old that has his own hours. Well, hope to see you there.
Hey Jon. I'm going to try and get there about 9ish. Or perhaps a bit laterish. Hope you'll still be there. (If you know which parking lot, let us know (eastish/westish - general direction will help - lotsa damn big lots out there ya know!)
Troy is bringing brats. Haha.
Yeah I will still be there. We won't finish until about 12:00ish. It will be good to meet you. So the place where the AX course is set up is South west parking lot, the Shipping and Receiving lot, located right off the Boeing freeway. See you there.
www.wwscc.org has directions.
I will be on my way to Pullman. Have fun everybody! Those that are headed south and those that are headed to the AX
Ok gang. Who is going to show at the AX at Boeing Everett??? I'm going to try and make it before too late in the AM.
Hope to meet you, Jon (Blood red 914 6gt).
Troy? Gonna see you there? (Wouldn't be the same without your daughter yelling "kill the cones.")
The guy with the silver 914 will be there kicking ass for sure (Tim? And his wife drives too?)
Hey Troy and Rand
Thanks for coming out today. It was good to meet you guys. I am looking for to doing more 914 stuff with you guys soon. I promise I will get my car out of that trailer;)
Thanks Rand. That would be cool. I want to see it. The door opening was one of the weirdest things.
So anything going on this week?
I'd love to go but can't as my wife is directing the choir at the high school graduation ceremony tomorrow night. That means I've got to stay home with the kiddies.
Next Tuesday I AM THERE!!
I am "Swapping" 914's for Ed's black six tomorrow morning. Maybe I'll keep it for a day and drive it to Carnation.
I am up for it. Let me know as I will need to drop Elijah off at the Grandparents.
well that would be 2 sixes against my little 1.8, do you guys think you could keep up?
i'll be all set to go by about 6:30, dan do you wanna take I5 or hwy 9 to get down this far?
we could meet over by my house.
I hope the weather is as nice as today. 6:30 is fine by me. I don't know if my 6 ca keep up Troy Sorry, had too. So who else is going to come? Anyone....Anyone?
I will bring my vw, but not a 914. Where to meet?
how about the bartell drug store parking lot at seattle hill rd and 132 st se
6:30 ? or is 7"00 better?
Wish I could make it but my rental house got flooded by a broken toilet tank valve today. Have to replace all the carpet, sheet rock 2' up the walls, floor insulation....after we get it dried out. At least insurance covers most of it.
Just when I thought i was getting some free time
The Bartell works. Whatever time you guys want works for me. My wife will be home by 4:30 to watch the kidlet . Sounds like fun. Sorry about the whole flooding thing. I have had that happen in a few of our rentals. It's like renters don't know what the shut off valve is. .
I'llbe there by 6:30. Chris, if you take 128th toward Seattle Hill Road it turns into 132nd. The Bartell's is relativly new on the corner of 132nd and Seattle Hill Road.
see ya guys in bit
Yep, figured it out. I looked up the address for Bartells and mapped it.
I've got a date with my daughter tonight so I can't make it. (I know, my priorities are all messed up. Haha.)
Have a good time guys. Catch you next time.
No can do for me tonight. Have to work.
Sorry to miss.
(sitting poolside in dallas smoking stogie drinkin turkey )
Dallas? wow. sittin by the pool. That is cool. We had a small gathering and had fun on the drive out. ( I almost sideswiped a cop in my passat). But, good fun had by the three of us that showed. We will see more people next time.
i filled up a Z06 's rear view mirror on a down hill twisty.... suprised him.
Hey guys. It was fun getting together to BS. until next week....
i met a nother teener owner at the barber shop, he needs a alternater put in to get mobile agian. maybe he will post up and we could do a teener tueday to install it.
Just give him my number and I will do it for him so he can just go with us. It should only take 30 min if everything goes well.
I spotted a yellow teener this afternoon on my way home. I405 in Bellevue. Anybody here?
I would like to see the alt replacement as well. forgot to add that to previous post
I would love to see someone swap an alternator on a 914 in 30 minutes.
All right. You all can watch. the 30 minutes was more of a figure of speach meaning it doesn't take too long. It's on the side of the engine. You don't need to drop anything. You just need to have the sheet metal out of the way. However, if you are all there it will take longer with everyone chattin. . Oh, I forgot to account for if the heater blower is above it. The ones I did didn't have heat so that wasn't a problem. However, I had to replace the damn alternator four times before I finally got a good one. . So anyhow, it will be good to have everyone together
I watched Dave Hunt replace an alternator at WCC 06. It took about two beers. The way I was milking those beers - I'd gander an hour.
Hey, I saw a black 914-6 with GT flares in Everett today. The guy was wearing ear covers. Any idea who it was?
It looked nice. I would like to see it a little closer.
All? How many do you have? Do you go out to the PCA events in Bremerton?
I have two teeners plus one that is ready for the boneyard (free to a good home!) and sometimes I can be found kickin rocks out at Bremerton. I just changed jobs and had the inlaws intown for two weeks, so I have not been on the scene much...
I live real close to the ferry landing and the track. So I really dont have a good excuse for missing events there. Having said that, I am booked solid for the next two weeks again! dho!
Well, you will have to get out there soon. I will be at the rest for the year as I need to go to at least four more in order to take 1st in my class. Your teener ready for the bone yard... anything good on it? I may be willing to take it if you have anything left on there worth salvage.
I have one like that. My wife has been getting on me about getting rid of it.
I get out there around 8:00, but I help set up the course. I am generally done by 9:30 and from then until I run I don't have to do anything. There is generally a few 914s out there. If the weather is nice we are generally there until about 4:00 or so.
Its because you are so good at it!
Its going to be beautiful tomorrow. Wife gave me the thumbs up (or was that the finger?) to spend the evening cavorting with my 914 comrades. Where are we meeting tomorrow?
Somewhere South of Lynnwood prefered. I missed the meet at the Alki location - what about there? Or somewhere on the East side so we can do some driving. Any word from the guy needing the alternator? Work party?
Does someone centrally located want to host? Kevine? Rand? Dan? Rich? Jon? Robert? Geoff? (I'm sure I'm missing someone) I'll bring burgers.
Hey guys. If the weather is going to be nice tomorrow I am willing to go as far as South Seattle or the East Side somewhere. I would host something at my place, but I don't have my BBQ yet. Let go have some fun.
i'm on-call agian so some were lynnwood north seattle area would work for me
I will try and make this one. East side (if it's close to downtown bellevue) works for me, as does anywhere not to far from downtown seattle, including Alki.
Sorry guys, you are all a hour ferry ride away, so Tuesdays are out for me
Dino, what year is the part out car? looking for 1970
is federal way south seattle? come on down troy. bring your daughter and you can drive in the hov lane. have fun guys. perhaps some saturday. looking to build a sovren car jeff?
Not much left of parting out dead car, the front and reat facias are both gone as are the doors and glass. No title but if you want it, you can have it!
Dino your my hero , PM sent
Like Dino, it is too far for me to get over there on a weeknight. Any one on the west side want to meet somewhere? A+W in Port Orchard would be good.
This week is out, how about next week, Tom? We can try to get Shane and some other Westsounders together!
A&W Port Orchard Wed. evening? Cruz night.... Larry
p.o. on a wed night is def doable for me. plan and they shall attend. i like the 'poppa' burgers and washing them down with a 'tiger tail'.
OK Wed night 6PM ? I will be there. Hope to see some of you other guys. Hey, maybe next week also Dino.
sounds good to me! See you there...
So what is the plan for tonight guys?
Have car, will travel.
Pretty sure I can't do Wednesday. Although it would be an easy shot from work (Shelton). A&W sounds fun. My mother (who grew up in Bremerton) used to tell me stories of hanging out there as a teenager. She now hangs out there in her custom '33 Ford.
Next Weds is the fourth...
The guys up North will be doing something... Well, I knw I will be. I can go as far down as Bellevue or Seattle. There is a few nice placews around where Walkers Porsche shop is. Come on guys, it is going to be very nice out.
Forgot about the 4Th. I won't be able to make that one. Scared animals to take care of.
Wed after maybe?
Lets start our own WestSound Weds meeting thread, I elect you chairman!
PCA holds their meetings on that same evening so we can crash em one week out at the airport!
Sooooo, is anyone going to be meeting tonight?
does'nt look like i'm gonna make it
So far it doesn't look like anyone is . Troy, you could always come over and go through my stuff to see if there are any parts you need. I like getting stuff out of my garage . I can wait to get some of this stuff hauled off to the dump.
i'm getting slammed at work right now, not sure when i'm getting off.
What do you do? WHy do you have on call?
Troy does a lot of work with Single Mothers
just helping them get their start!
Was there supposed to be a picture there? Why the big gap?
Maybe next week fellers.
Since I drove the 914 to work I'm taking the LONG and CURVY way home.
Oh Troy, We youngens act like we do because we don't. You should know that by now with your elderly wisdom.
Anyone going to the Historics at Pcific Raceway this WE?
rich is refering to the sovren racs @ PRI(ustabe SIR) not PIR. jeanne and i are going (PRI) either today or tomorrow. dealing with a lost piece of mail with the USPS this am. a BIG bs hassle. i got a little 'vocal' while at the po yesterday. recieved phone calls from a couple of station managers. i'll give you a call later in the week dan.
Anyone up for a get together in the Seattle/Renton area Tuesday? Chris and I need to meet up to for some springs and I figured we should see if anyone else is interested in dinner and b.s.ing as always.
We're looking at a high of 81 so it should be pretty nice out. Maybe do something out along Alki beach? (Just a suggestion, I know parking out there can be a real PITA.
Speaking of tickets. Dan did I send you your tickets??
Let me know and an address if not.
Get well soon Rich..
I am up for something this Tuesday. Seattle or Renton would be fine by me.
Anyone go to the driver skills on Saturday in Bremerton? I was at the AX and noticed four 914s I have never seen before.
i am ready to come down now.....the harlot is up an running....
just gotta get some one to cover the store for the afternoon.....
i nomitate dan for a barbie.....
are you up for that dan??
dinner and drinks are on me for those who attend on 7/10.
in eureka california.
I can't make it tonight. emergency upgrade at work. Is anybody from the north end going down? If so, can you hook up with Jon and bring my springs back to the north end? Pretty please? Thanks and have fun.
Cool Car cruise here in Bremerton at the bank... Should be fun, but if you are not online for a ferry right now, you might miss it
Soooo, is there anything going on tonight?
Inquiring minds want to know.......any plans for this Tuesday?
yeah, anything in Seattle?? I am back.....
Dave Hunt, how's the new bridge?
I am up for something tomorrow. Who has ideas?
I have ideas but tired of having em down.
Richs for burgers??
I might finally have some time ... and a running tenner(and not the M5 - it sprung a water leak) ... in the same week.
North Puget Sound or South Puget Sound?
How about burgers on your deck, Eddie? we can watch the sunset while drinking beer waiting for Troy to show up.
Not this week or the next few weeks for me. I am in Franklin Mass for two weeks then off to Santa clarita for a week. Then home.
Since most Teener owners are such packrats, you would all feel right at home the way my deck is looking right now. Doesn't everyone use bellhousings and intake maifolds for decorations on their deck? Since the NASCAR boys use race wheels to hold up glass table tops, why shouldn't I use a bellhousing to hold up a flowerpot?
I would say my place is fine, but I would rather be in Seattle. That and my house is too small.
sorry guys, i'm on-call agian and i've got some major downer things going on right now that is kinda taking my mind off of fun.
this is a stressfull week and not sure what the next couple of months will be like.
Hang in there Troy. I can't say much to make you feel better except I hope things work out well.
Hey Geoff and Eddie
Any ideas for tonight? Mark from Cali, computer4kids, may be interested in joining up as well.
lol.... Thanks Rand. That was too funny. I still don't know how my door didn't get shut. Oh well. Thanks for posting it.
Tuesday night at 4pm. Hey Kevin, wanna come up for a beer? Haha. (I got that spoiler mounted and could tell some good stories about it. I'll make another thread later.)
Any Seattle northender locals want to make a last minute call before I go home? Bothell? Mill Creek? Everett?
jeezuz rand! ya need to post this chit like a day in advance.
i got my daughter full time this week, have go pick her up from the b/s and then go make dinner, get her ready for bed and do it all over again tomorrow.... i'm every woman!
this single dad thing working 10hrs in the freakin sun and all ...... it's realy not all that bad. i wish it was permanent!
I need to stay home tonight. My kid swallowed an ear ring, and I am still making sure it passes. Maybe we can do something next week.
On my way to work this morning I saw Mike (Micheal J) driving his blue teener at the merge of WA-101 and WA-8. He looked like quite the stud with the top off and the sun in his face.
Mike, if you're reading - Car looks great!!
Made me mentally kick myself for not driving mine to work today.
dino is supposed to be scheduling a b-fast in b-town. oh dino.... whatsup with the powerplant morgan?
rand, ya got whatcha paid for.
AAAAH!! I'm suppose to go to the Husky game on the 8th. I haven't commited though so lets nail the date down soon.
I know, that is also the same weekend as the Wooden Boat festival in Port Townsend!
The weekend before is Labor Day weekend, so I would think that would be a no go as well.
Wow I been outta touch
looks like we gotta get the crew together for an
near end of summer some
and tell some lies
Ive been feeling like a after back surgery.
Geoff I hadnt heard from ya man, figured you were out o' country.
Give me a call.
My place is certainly available but I was thingking we need to
organize a trip out to Cawdry's?
Does anyone have any news on Daves status?
Im on the mend and will be able to drive (according to the doc) by next week.
Anything going next week? I have a bunch of work that I am catching up on, but might be able to squeeze in some 914 time soon. I hope to be spending more time in the drivers seat by September, but we will see.
EOS BBQ sounds like fun!
Ditto on the Cawdrey status???? Dave, Kori, you still check in here? What ever happened to the work party idea? I would be so into that! I'm pretty good behind a lawn mower or hoe. (And Troy, don't make any jokes about me being good behind a ho.)
Any word at all????
Somebody plan something for August.
I'd offer to host a BBQ but I know nobody wants to drive all the way to Oly. Even for free food and beer. Or am I wrong?
Michelle and I could possibly host something at our house. We have a wedding to attend on the 8th, so that would be out. How about the 9th?
sept 9th is seahawks game that the best G/F in the world got tickets for.
the 8th could work or labor day week end, i'll be working on sundays though.
i could do teener tuesday if it's up north, i'm on-call again so i'll not have the teener.
or teener what ever day during the week.
we missed a leavenworth trip, maybe a octoberfest trip.
Sorry to hear about the back surgery.
I've been very busy this summer with lot's of family stuff.
Things should slow down once the kids are back at school.
Hopefully see everyone in September.
I think Rand is off his Med's
Yup blew out L4&5 cut a chunk of disc goo
out of me ths size of my thumb.
Ill never had a clue of what real Syatic
nerve pain was about until this
Now Im going stir crazy
Ive been cooped up at home for 3.5 weeks, no driving
or prolonged sitting.
So much for projects or summer activities
give a weeks notice ...we are up for a get together!!
teener is broken...need i say ....again
so we will jeep it
Ok, Shane and I will be having breakfast @ Family Pancake House on September 8th commencing at 0914
You are all invited to show up, just let me know so I can get a big enuff table...
i'm in. post the addy please.
Count me in as well. Put me down for two - I've got a little one who would eat pancakes three meals a day if she could.
Should be there.
Here is a link to the FPH site
Same place as always...
Also for the Westsounders and semi retiered types, The last cool car cruise of the year is happing 4 sept here at Westsound Bank in lovely downtown Bremerton! 607 Pacific Ave. This is a pretty big show with the Bank supplying free Burgers or Hot Dogs!
So if you want to see some kewl old time steel and eat fro nothing, the show starts at 5pm...
Made it by Steve Peter's farm in Abbotsford BC on Sunday. Steve hosted a BBQ for us and we checked out the cars he has in his huge shop..2 914's that are his, one 914 that is his brothers and a sweet 78 Rabbit..none of them are running I think.
I want to head up to the Mission Speedway sometime to race!!! Who else is up for it?
is the labor day run at b-ton or pri?
thanks Geoff and Monique for coming down!!
damn it none of the cars where running....
gotta cut the firewall or drop the engine for the fan belt....
and then i gotta paint the engine compartment clean up wires.....
gotta get movin....
if you guys where closer the mission race track would be a great place for some fun on the weekdays....wed nite the local bicycle club uses it for training pratcice....
i don't see why we couldn't book it for a couple evenings of alternate tues....
leave seatle at four or five get here by seven race for a couple of hours....
but hey...what the heck do i know about racing.....
Hey guys, if you plan to show up at the breakfast on 908, please respond to the newly created thread of the same name, thanks
Whats up for Tuesday the 25th?
I don't know. I could do something I think. Anyone else able to do anything?
i think i'll be up for it
25th? what about tommorow?
the 25th Ill be in Sac. for Biz.
I generally have Tuesdays free. Rich, if nobody else can we could always go grab a drink. Anyone else free for tomorrow? My wife owes me free time anyways.
I might be able to, won't know for sure until tomorrow after work.
What's the destination?
i'll meet up with you Rich. not sure if'n i'll drag the teener out but lets get together for a bite and brew.
you got any ideas on where.
We are all close by each other so why not something close. I am running to a guys house tomorrow to see how much it will cost for him to weld in my new rear floor with Engman kit. So I guess we need to figure if the 914s are going to come along and where.
It depends on how my day unfolds tomorrow. If I get everything done, I might join late depending on where everybody is going. But it might not be until 8 or 9pm..don't know.
Well... if we do something close it would be easier for you Chris. I don't care how late we stay out. My wife owes me a break from our son from me watching him all week last week while she was at a work convention.
Mill Creek, Silver lake, Everett..?
Sounds like its just we three, unless Troy can shake free.
I am cool with where ever. I have been going to a blace called Azul in Mill Creek when I can get out to a bar. It is upscale but the scenery sure is nice Somewhere is is fine too.
Hey, be sure to check out my post about the free beer this Sat in Bellevue at Park Place. I went with Troy and Eddie last year and it is really worth the effort.
Alright guys. I should have all my work done by around 5:30 or so. Anyone know what the plan is?
the g/f father passwd away last night, dont think i'm gonna make it,sorry guys
W/O any other suggestions lets hit Azul?
Sorry for your loss Troy. As I am still at work, it will have to be next Tuesday for me. Have fun guys!
I live in Everett and am wondering if there is a group of teeners in the North End that are looking to get together once in a while to talk, turn a wrench or go for a drive. I have a 73 2.0L.
Plenty of North end guys on board. They should be chiming in soon.
Keep checking in.
A bunch of misc. stuff. Nothing for the exhaust system. I have an early seat backing in almost perfect condition, some H4 headlights, and other stuff that is going to the dump unless someone comes and claims it.
Cool, Tuesday should have a good showing this week. I try to mention to all insurance companies that this car is a volkswagon
LOL! yes, ve are here to unpimp your ride.
there are a few of us up here in the convergence zone (as you can tell)
Have we pinned something down for tomorrow?
I just realised I have to pick my daughter up after work on Tuesday and the wife works until 9PM. Any kid friendly places we could meet up like a olive garden, bobs burger and brew, etc... I'll be in Lake Stevens to pick her up so that area would be cool for me to. I don't know where you guys normally do this.
Kid friendly would be fine by me. Any thoughts on where?
Umm.... Would it be possible to do in Snohomish or in Everett somewhere? The traffic going up North at that time is murder.
How about the Buzz in by the casino on I-5 right before the Boeing access freeway?
You mean the one right off exit 189.... right by my house... Chris? That works for me.... I am really okay with whatever. I just would rather not drive up North on 1-5 during rush hour if it can be avoided.
6:00 would be fine.
great i'm planning on being there.
i'll be bringing the G/F.
Wow, Troy comes out to play.... Cool, it will be good to see everyone. My wife may need to come then. Or should I not bring the women?
skip I-5 all together. up broadway, take 99 across the flats, and go up state street to 84th(?) or what used to be cemetary rd.
Unfortunately, Im out.
Wife schedualed the kids "parent/teacher" counseling sessions
It would be good to see you Rich, but we all know family comes first. Hope you get a good report from the teacher
If Google Maps is my friend, this is the location:
I probably have about a 2% chance of making it, but I'm going to try.
What a DAY HERE eh??? Dang, I'm driving topless and sweating in my t-shirt!
Rock on bros! (I sound like JPB or somethin). Woot.
Uh oh! LOL... Better wait for confirmation on the address. There's more than one "Buzz Inn" around here. The one by 526 is a likely candidate.
Both work, so pick one
the one on 19th. south of the boeing freeway.
i'll be there 'bout 6:30
So that would be the one off of 526 and not the one with the link?
I will be at the one off of the bothell everett highway just after 6:15.
Buzz Inn Steak House
425-338-2033 Fax: 425-338-2033 9504 19th Ave SE, Everett, WA 98208
Sounds like you have the right place Jon.
I'll just start looking for a "buzz inn" greasy spoon after I get north of Silver Lake on 19th. When I see a bunch of old ugly mutant Volkswagens I'll know I have the right place.
Ok.... Try http://maps.google.com/maps?q=9504+19th+Ave+SE,+Everett,+WA+98208,+USA&ie=UTF8&z=16&iwloc=addr&om=1
Looks like I'm going to make it. Woot. Hey Jon, if you still have those H4 headlights and want to get rid of them..... Bring 'em along and I'll buy you a beer!
Sorry Rand, Chris laid claim to them already
Dang, too slow. Oh well, I owe you one anyway.
Hey wait, just to be fair, Chris and I should compare current headlights... Whoever has the dimmest, most-yellow old lights gets the H4s! Hey Chris, I'll trade you for some of Jon's other stuff.
See you guys in an hour or so.
One errand to run and them i am on my way.
It was fun guys. We will have to try to do this more often with the families.... So the wives and girlfriends can all talk and keep out of our chat . Love seeing more teeners out on the road. Can't wait to see Chris's all finished . Troy, glad to hear everything is in a better balance for you and having you back out. Brad, you 914 looks nice. Any time you need any help just let me know, and if you ever need anything for it I do get most parts at cost. Rand, anytime you have some free time let me know as I would love to get a web page set up if we could.
Until next time
Hey got a call from a non member seeking a front deck lid.... local?
Anyone got one they want to part with?
Troy has a beautiful one he would love to part with....
rhody has some
Michelle and I gotta go to a teener tuesday. Anyone up for something next week?
If I would show you would have to buy ALL my refreshments ... it's my last day of work!
I resigned from my job of FIFTEEN YEARS!
I don't think i could attend ... My wife is having surgery next Wednesday. She is pretty nervous. She will need my support the night before.
You hit the nail(s) on the head!
I've firmly grasped the "scary" portion of the equation ... I'm waiting for the "liberating" portion to soak in ...
I've been in public accounting for the last fifteen years. Too many years of working crazy hours and missing out on the family from January through April 15th.
Robert, thanks for the encouragement ... I very much like ... "liberating"!
WCR 2008! Here I come!
Ummm... I am up for doing something next week, but Tuesday they are having the WCR meeting. Maybe we can all do something on next Thursday. Then Eddie could come
I might be up for something tomorrow. Just depends if an offer that is supposed to come in today does, or if it comes in tomorrow. Anyone else?
a definate maybe!
some where local would be best cause i got stuff i gotta do b4 i get my daughter on wed. and turkey day comming up, so no late night for me.
Hey guys! Figured I would check in and let you know I am alive still. Just without a driving/running teener for awhile. I hope everyone has been having a great holiday season!
Hey Jim! Where you been? Glad to see you are still out there. We should have another Tuesday soon. Been a long time.
I've just been hiding out in Tacoma. And it HAS been way too long. I cant even tell you when the last teener tuesday was that I went to. Maybe some of us can get together on the 1st?
Yeah, we do need to get together soon. Don't really know about the 1st though. I got to meet Eddie914 yesterday. He let me drive his car I really think my 914 needs more power. No more of this stock 2.0l 6 stuff for me...... Hey Dan.. we NEED to talk . Lets try to figure out a tuesday in the next few weeks so we can get a good turn out.
Dan is contagious, next thing you know you will be welding roofs and stuff!
it all starts with just a intake swap and while your doing that you might as well .... well then you have a screaming 2.5
and troy and dino come out of the wood works...
Hey. 2.5 is perfect for what I want to do . in PCA 2.5 is the max for GTU and Mod U. My suspension with 200hp... There will be no welding of roofs for me..... at least not on THIS 914. Can't say I won't try to do it in the future to another though.
Weld and drive
Teener Tuesday after the new year for sure. I'm up for something.
So it is supposed to be nice tomorrow. It was beautiful today and I took my 914 out for a bit. Need to do it again tomorrow if it is nice. Anyone up for anything?
It was great meeting you.
I agree ...
I really think my 914 needs more power.
Lunch for Teener Tuesday might be fun.
I would be up for a lunch somewhere. Anyone else?
If there is a get together I would like to leave the shop. The McLaren chassis project is getting to be a MIGRANE! or maybe its just the realization of how long the wife has been..........ouch. Heres to a better year, Larry
Ummm... I guess you'll have to explain that one to me over lunch So we have Eddie and Larry... and who else? Shall we try for a 12:30 luch somewhere in Seattle? Maybe North Seattle?
I can show , depending on where.
I am open to where ever you guys would like to go. I just want to drive my 914 It's supposed to be nice again.
Chris rig up a string throttle and bring your 914
I can pick Chris up if he can come. He can even drive my car for a bite. But I'm not coming all the way back to his condo. I don't want to kill my air dam on that damn speed bump that's two feet tall again.
No explaination, theres another man. My daughters are upset. Iam at home doing damage control. She is out partying. If I can get together my youngest will be with me. Larry.......Happy NewYear
Oh, sorry to hear that Larry. Well, it will be nice to meet you. Kids are always welcoome as the 914 sickness starts young . When I started my 914 up this morning my 17 month old son climbed up onto the couch and started making car noises.
So where would work best for you Larry? Would you take the ferry across?
I guess I should clarify that the youngest is 16 and has been on the track with me in Lotus/Cosworth and McLaren cars. They are both total gear heads. Is that so bad? Larry
Sweet. I wish my dad had cool cars like that. My dad has a 1929 Chryster Plymoth. It's neat and all, but when it comes to driving I really learned that from my friends dad. My kids will most likely be like yours.
Well, I am going to bed, but I am planning on joining you guys for lunch tomorrow where ever you decide.
I will probably drive around as I will be moving one of the teeners to Port Townsend. However I may bring the 928 out. Provided it behaves! Iam open thankks gang Larry
Happy New Year guys.... So what's the plan? Lunch? Where? When?
Sorry, I am going to wimp out on this. I promised my wife breakfast in bead with Mimosa's. I will be up for something next week!
Well you just get your car running
I'm running late today.
I folded to peer pressure and went out to breakfast after my morning swim ... in Puget Sound at Alki Beach!
There was a big biker gathering (mostly Darley Davidson) at the Alki Tavern spilling out into the boat parking lot. Around 100 bikes. The 914s would have fit in being air cooled.
Let's see what next week looks like for scheduling.
Sounds good. So we will plan for something next week.
sounds good, buying wheels today in auburn
How about a TRAXX run? Drive what you want and lets go race some go karts!
That sounds like a very good idea. We should plan that and see if we can get some kind of discount.
Kieran and I are in. already have tickets ( birthday gift card) Lets go have fun! Should we make it 7:30 pm so everbody can make it?
I am in... Who else... I will call tomorrow to see if we can get a group rate.
So we should say this is for Tuesday the 8th at 7:30pm?
Sounds like loads of fun! I think I should be able to make it, and I will talk to John too.
Okay, So here are the details. Groups of six or more get a 20% discount per race making it $13.50 a race. If you have never been to Traxx before you will like the course. It is one of the largest I have been on in the NW for go-karting and they give you ample time each race. The info if you want to look it up yourself is:
Traxx Indoor Raceway
4329 Chennault Beach Road
Mukilteo, WA 98275 (directions)
425-493-TRAX or 425-493-8729
So we are planning on 7:30 in the 8th. They stay open until 11:00.
Let me know if you guys are up for it and I will make a reservation asap.
I think me and my girl will make it. Count us in
Cool, that makes five...maybe six if my wife would like to go. Anyone else?
Maybe my wife will come as well. I asked her to. Anybody else? Maybe wait until Saturday so the weekenders get a chance.
I was going to wait until Sunday to make the reservation anyway Anyone else going to join us?
Doesnt look like we will be able to make it after all. Little tight on funding right now. Maybe next time guys. Sorry!
Anyone else? I didn't schedule yet as they said they had plenty of space, but in order to get the discount we do need to have six and make the appointment today.
That sucks. Well, Kieran ( maybe Angela) and I are up for it. I already have tickets for two races (gift card) so it dosn't sound like a go this time.
Alright. Let's plan for next week. Who could come next week?
Next Tuesday it is. That way I can go get a new computer for my mother in Law.
Nice That puts us over six people already. Anyone else wish to come?
I am in. I am bringing Kieran and maybe Angela. We will make sure they give the light peeps the slow cars and my old fat butt the fast cars.
Well I called last night and was told that we can have a reservation after 8:30 I don't know if that was too late or what. we could always meet up early for a bite then start racing when they are ready.
What do you guys think?
I can be there about 7pm.
I have class on Tuesday's until quarters end in March. Summer will be different though.
doesn't matter to me. See you at 7pm.
I can't make it tonight. I get the part I've been waiting for in an hour, and then I have to put it in the car. Until then I am carless....kinda
That sucks Jon. Hope it went well. Kieran won our race, I came in second about .5 seconds behind him. I need to lose 20lbs to compete with the kid. He got 8th place for the day.
We should try to make this a monthly thing. 8pm so everybody can make it.
Yeah, it did suck. After waiting for way too long I finally got the part and got it in. I agree, we should make Traxx a once a month thing.
maybe a sat or sun some time. during the week is plain impossible.
We can see about that. As it get towards AX season I need to cherish my Saturdays
My thought that this is more of a winter thing when we can't get out and have fun. We should do it on a Saturday/Sunday and as the weather gets warmer, we can cancel it and make it a group drive on Tuesdays!
That's a good idea. We will need to plan this. I will post something next week when everyone has given input.
Okay, So what Saturday would work best for you guys? Let's think one in February?
A sunday would work best for me, as I have to work on Saturdays, but have tuesdays and sundays off at my new job. As far as a teener tuesday goes, I am open to something on the 5th. Any ideas?
Also, I am thinking of parting my wrecked '73. I will be keeping some/most of the good parts for a future 914 to tinker on. Anyone need any parts? I can deliver in the puget sound region for any "large" parts......
I can do a sat afternoon until april. You will have to tolerate a 928 though.
Hey Jim, here's the list I've come up with so far.
Didn't know what you want to keep for now.
If I can't buy it, I'll borrow it. LoL
Exchangers (if they were SSIs)
Heater parts and controls
Gauges (dash and console)
Fuel Level Sender
Body and Targa Seals
Trunk Targa clips
Front trunk platform
Window regulators if they're still usable. (can't remember if they are or not. I'm guessing not)
The little bushing for the passenger side headlight that I'm missing.
The stainless brake lines.
And... Ebrake parts!!! lol
That's a bit longer than I thought it'd be.
Looks like I'm gonna be broke after this. lol
front trunck lid.... mine mine mine mine!
dont know, It was yours though.
all i need is a rust free, straight condition hood.
and youse guys are all cracking jokes on me
That was a hood off my very first 914. Bought it as a parts car but I think Tim Kornacki ended up with most of the parts. Not too sure how that worked
Been busy. Closed two sales last week, Had a purchase and sale accepted today. New listing to put on the market on Monday and showing a 2.3M home on Saturday. It's always good to get a good start to the year We need to grab a beer soon Troy.
Cool. Maybe this year you could come to a Boeing AX and co-drive my car with me. It should be killer this year. Taking 5-10lbs off the flywheel, transmission gear swap and rebuild, and a TB diff We'll just see how you approve.
The interior is black. Sorry. John, you and I will have to talk. Maybe we can work out something about that pint of blood.... Marc, the rear bubmper pad is kinda shot. Then there is the vulture..er clutch killer....er Troy. If you want a hood with only 1 or 2 coats of paint, let me know! lol
Mines Free and Once you have black you'll ..... never mind.
Jim, not trying to kill a sale , just trying help out a local.
I thought he got one from rich months ago.
Hey Troy, If you get the black hood, you could do the rear deck and the doors the same. Then put CHP stickers on the sides and some flashy thingy lights and go have fun
I may have to take you up on that offer Jon. What is the schedule like?
I should be at most all the PCA AX's at bremerton. If I miss one it would be because of an emergercy. Go to http://www.pnwr.org/Track/autocross/default.asp to see the schedule. I will be at the February one as well. It will be cold though.
Tuesday is looking good so far. Anybody up for a bite?
yup, ok, u-betcha....... where?
Definitely maybe. I think I should be good, but I do have a few clients that are looking to do something any day.
If my class doesn't go too late, I might show up as well. Were you guys thinking about meeting up?
how about the rock brewery and pizza in lynnwood off 196 th and about 40th
6:00 or 7:00
If I can get off work on time I should be able to make it too.
Not I as I am off to DC for a few days....
Sounds good to me.
Close to Edcc for me. Class isn't suppose to get out until 8:30PM, but usually gets out a little before 8PM. I'll try to make it even if I swing by late. I started driving my teener daily again.
I will be by late as well. Probably about 8pm (just in time to see Dan!) See everybody tomorrow.
Should we just plan it for 7:30 then? That way the late joiners won't be too late.
i'll be there 'bout 7.
i'm gonna order up some roasted mussels, they've got the best.
Ok, I might show up if everyone else promises not to make any comments about Troy's roasted mussels.
I think I'll stick with turf and brew.
now there you go again Rand, don't let me catch you drooling over my nice roasted mussels
Ahem. I think I'll opt for the oysters, thanks.
Dude, you are going to owe me some extra help on the V8 project after all this kind of joking. Oy.
okay. I'll be there around 7ish then. Just wrote up the offer today and should have it all presented before the night. So it shouldn't be an issue.
Put your roasted body parts away Clutch boy.
Cool, hopefully see you guys around 8:30 the latest then.
It was good to see you all guys. We need to do this more often.
That's no joke either. Seems like I can remember a time we were gathering almost every Tuesday for a long time. Summer will see better turn-outs as it stays lighter out later.
Oh, thanks again for picking up the tab for food/beverage. I can't believe myself and everyone else forgot thier wallets.
Oh yeah, I am cruising along North I-5 when Jon comes screaming by me just before the Everett Mall/Silver Lake Exit. Man, that exhaust sounds sweet!
Jon, did you see the cop sitting off to the left? If you hadn't exited, he might have nabbed you.
Yeah, He sits there every now and again From 128th until there it is clear though.
I didn't see him. Oh well. I got off the freeway on 526. I guess I will have to scream yaba daba doo a little louder.
it's gonna be submarine races out in bremerton saturday
Ther's going to be a 2270 in GTU. I've got some good competition this weekend. I don't mind if it rains. I am generally very fast in the wet. Lots of practice Hope to see many of you guys out there. It would be cool to see a lot of 914s running. Generally we might have five or six. That is way too few.
I'm going to be in the Seattle area on April 19th, and I'll be having dinner and beer at Diamond Knot brewpub in Mukilteo that evening, if anyone is interested. I won't have my 914 there... I don't have an engine yet. I will have my wife and her zoom-zoom Mazda3. I'll have my camera if anyone wants to bring their 914 and I'll shoot some pics... maybe by the lighthouse...
Sounds like a plan to me Mmmmmmmmmm Diamond Knot .
Lets plan for something next Tuesday! Go Karting?
I have tuesday off so someplace close to the Edmonds Kingston ferry would be great Larry
I open for something.
There is that pub/grill across the stree or Anthony's (beach club?)
The lot at the light house is torn up for repair. Any ideas?
Hey Larry, What do you mean? Are you asking what they are doing?
I am thinking they are wanting to try for the Edmonds area. It would be good to see you out there.
[quoteMaybe something between everett and tacoma?[/quote]
Now I like this kind of thinking!
I'm too used to the Tacomish people whining about having to drive too far north!
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
I think it is Mike Crandall. He has a real 1970 Porsche 914-6. However, I'm not really sure.
HAH!! the roads run both ways and weekday traffic sucks equally for all of us. 6freak, where do you live in t-town?
should be time for a sat b-fast in bremerton soon. i'm anticipating a heavy turnout from all those from east side of the water and up north.
No, Stew has his own.
Right On !
Since I am starting my 2 job pay back the IRS thing next week I'll have to keep my eyes open for weekend stuff that will be done. Unless maybe one week you guys want to swing by the Hotel for some food and beverage. I can always take an extended break.
how about go karting next weekend?
next weekend is an AX
ok, when and where?
PCA AX in Bremerton on Saturday the 12th. Registration starts at 9:00?
Will be in the shop repairing what was damaged/destroyed at Thunderhill....
Maybe grab a beer after then Larry. We can talk about it more on Tuesday. So were do we all want to meet on Tuesday?
That would be cool Troy.
So what are we doing tomorrow? Are we going to meet somewhere in Edmonds?
i can't think of any place good and cheap [it's gotta be cheap 'cause we're narps.
So I Think the 5th Ave Grillhouse sounds like a good place. They have very good food and are not too much.
I'm close in that area as well 6freak. I MIGHT join in tomorrow, but I am completely teenerless. Kinda depends on what my girl wants to do. I do have a comfy 4 seater that gets REALLY good mpg if Kev wants to ride and not drive.
I might be able to make it as well. Don't have class Tuesday nights anymore!
If I do, I too will be teener-less. She's currently parked in the garage with no insurance. (Needed a car with defrost due to some deep freezes down here.) Soon as the weather calms a little more she'll be back out and about though.
I think a lot of people will be teenerless Mine is in getting some welding done on the interior at the moment.
Still have not heard in the 5th Ave Grillhouse sounds good to you guys or not. My wife likes the sound of it.
parking sounds a bit challenging, but i'm up for it. there alot more places that are not in the edmonds bowl area if no one is getting off the boat.
thanks for the offer jim but i can't make it. working near silverdale. where are you living these days? back on the boat? haven't seen you around...
I'm still out in Tacoma off 38th st. I've just been workin my ass off at work, so I dont get much time to spend around my own cars anymore. If the weather wasnt shitty today I was gonna do the valves on the bug and replace the master on the ranchero. Damn rain!(insert anti-PNW waether smiley here)
John, I would grab the shotgun seat with 6freak if I was you!
6freak, give me a ring when you are looking to take off. 253-861-4090
jim gimme call we you guys make it to boeing field an i'll get there 'bout the same time.
What time are you guys wanting to show up? Since you are coming from the South I will let you pick and I will be there then.
Kinda sounds like about 5:30 ish? Not sure on the time yet. Is your # still the same Troy?
Sounds like I will see you guys there at 5:30 then.
Had a lot of fun tonight guys! THANK YOU for the ride Mike. It was......inspirational.
It was nice to meet you Southies . Hope to see you guys on Saturday. Well, I know I will see Mike
Poor Troy got 5 0d on the way home. I came around a corner and noticed the black Edmonds police car sitting there then looked in my rear view to see Troy come around the corner to get nabbed. It should be a 30 or 35 zone but is a 25.
So Troy, how much is it?
Didn't the po-po like your tap dance? Sorry Troy! Had to:
oohh! it was not good!
i didn't realize tabs WERE due back in october! and he said 41 in a 25! and i couldn't find my insurance card! but he let that one go.
so tomorrow i go get classic car plates [ i won't have to remember to go get tabs on that car any more.
and the thing is i didn't even think i was speeding, just putting along.
how much?...... lets just say i would rather have a renshifter.
so go to court i go and play every ticket fitting trick there is.
did you see how he had that radar gun kinda hanging out the window?
wasn't there another car going the opposite direction?
lets see subpoena operator instructions on proper operation of radar gun. and officers training cert. and last calibration of radar gun from manufacture.
Troy... just hire a lawyer on this one.
John Eltringham is very good. He has got me off of every ticket I have gave to him. Well, all two of them. However, he is the lawyer that Park Place LTDs employees use and he does very well for them. 206-650-6560.
Come on! you have to drive. It is supposed to be beautiful on Saturday! I might even show up!
You guys ever run up Whidbey Is ? I love driving my teener here. Perhaps I could show some of you around. Some great curvey roads and georgeous top off scenery in the summer. And a ferry ride for all you townies to trip on.
if you didn't get pinned for the $480ish ins and $$$expired tabs you might just pay the ticket. he could have lit you up for an invalid registration too. you were fortunate. or...prob $200+ an hour portal to portal for the mouth piece to fight an infraction you ARE guilty of. lucky it wasn't a school/work zone. everything is x2. chose your poison and stay out of edmonds if you go the fighting route. there's only so many white 914s with frontend damage in snoho country.
Yes talk is cheap And all I can afford right now. Besides all the scenery is buried in the cloud cover. Cascades and Olympics are hiding and it's too cold for my skinny butt to take the top off. This would need some planning to work out well but would be a great day trip for a few people. Ferry ride, curvy roads, some shopping for the GF/Mrs, site seeing, lunch,Deception Pass , a run up Mt Erie on Fidalgo , Dinner at the Rock Fish Grill in Anacortes Sunset at Washington Park with a view of the San Juans. A long day for sure. Not something for the cold crappy days we are having now. More like August. When the weather is better and I actually will have some positive cash flow. I hope. Any one interested contact me perhaps we can put this together.
That is a very fun drive. August you say? That should be a good time to do it.
So looks like I'll be going tomorrow. Got insurance on the teener this morning and am about to head out into the garage to give her a once-over real quick.
Hope to see a few of you there. Now just out of curiosity, I read that to attend you have to be a PCA member or invited guest. Are they gonna hassle me for not being a member? Or do I just say I'm with one of you guys?
You own a Porsche..... that's enough for them. Our group is rather leanient.
No offence taken on the talk is cheap comment . Just tellin it like it is. I'm current ly out of a job. My teener is signal orange , pretty much box stock with rusty chromes. Looks good from a distance ,up close it has some minor rust issues. I'm gettin a little gray with a big white mustache that people seem to comment on. you would see my around Oak Harbor are although I live in Greenbank. I will work on setting up a day trip in August on a Sat for any one interested. I've lived on the Is. for 35 yrs. I'll have to do a refresher trip for myself.
Hey all, had a great time out at bremerton today. Sorry I disappeared so early, had dinner plans in Kent for 4:45. Made it with 2 minutes to spare.
And Troy, I know you like going without a front swaybar, but just for shits and giggles, you should put one on for the next event and see how you do then. As it is, you've got more body roll than a stock 1953 Chev pickup.
Some pics from today. Not too bad for a little cellphone cam.
If anyone is interested in larger versions, if you click on the "links" tab you can find the larger versions.
I also have the originals in 1600x1200.
And my personal favorite....
Troy decided to try part of the course in reverse.
That was priceless! But, he did do it. I had a blast today. I rode about 200 miles on my bike.
i proudly accept the first spin of the day!
Troy did very well out there........... for a first timer It was a fun course and your driving was impressive. I'm no expert but I would be very happy with how you did if I were you. Glad you now understand my illness
It was great seeing you all out there. I look forward to seeing more of you at the next event.
It would be great to get a bunch of you guys out there so we can do a group shot for the 914magazine...... Mike Koozman has asked me to try to get one of the whole gang........... You too Kevin.
Hold up! Troy, that was your first time?
Damn, I did not know that. Most definitely good for the first time!
So what's the plan for Tuesday? (Trying to get the weekly thing going again.)
i'll make it up to bmsp jon. prob next month. roughly 10 hours in the yard between yest and this am. always a big push early in the spring to get ahead of the curve. the weather the last month or so was not condusive to yard work. 2 weeks ago i had 2-3" of snow in my yard and it was in the high 20s in the am.
Cool Kevin... We should try to get as many 914s there as possible for a few good group shots. Give the WCR a good warm up photo of the NW teeners
Still going to the Diamond Knot on Saturday Todd?
Nice.. So what time should we tell people to show up? I should have my car. It is kind of in between projects, but the interior was just painted today and I pick it up tomorrow
Alright all of you NW Teeners... You heard it. 5:30 on this Saturday at the Diamond Knot Brewery in Mukilteo. It is right next to the Mukilteo Ferry. I am planning on going and so should all of you
just got a call from one of my daughters friends mom about a sleep over b-day party this sat. so it's a i'll be there!
You're going to be at your daughter's friend's mom's house for a sleep over?
Sorry guys, cant make it Saturday. Working. Have a drink for me!
BTW: If any of you know ANYONE that is looking for a decent Ranchero or something of the sort, mine is up for sale in the non-914 classifieds. I need it gone to make room for the 914 it will buy me!
It's snowing here
See you guys tomorrow.
I wish I could come. However, won't be able to make it I have been sick as a dog all week
Hopefully next time.
I will be on the north bound Amtrak Cascades (Talgo high speed) train. I will be monitoring strain gauges. I will have the engineer lay on the whistle, plug your ears! Should be about 745 if yall are still coherant Larry. By the way stop by Woodys market and grab me some MD20/20
So Troy, Todd and his wife, and my self with my wife had a good time at Diamond Knot. Missed you other guys. Next time and it should be soon rather than later.
Sorry I was busy putting the eng. in the LE
Sweet Let me know when it is running. You should call me and stop by sometime soon.
We had a good trip. Exciting weather. Diamond Knot was fun... Larry, we didn't hear any horns... Troy, my wife, and I were there until after 9. Today I stopped at PJ Haun's house and me him, his wife, and his car. He's got some interesting hardware on his 914. We stopped at the Oberto outlet store... my wife won't let me pass it. Lunch today was at the Rockfish Grill in Anacortes... didn't see any green teeners
I make it up that way at least twice a year, and I am planning on the WCR even though I won't have my car done. But I think I finally have an engine on the way... at least a core. Looks like I'm getting a bus 2.0 with a pair of 44 IDFs for $400
It was great to meet you and your wife Todd. I look forward to seeing you at the WCR or earlier if you come up again. The Diamond Knot was great. I hope next time I can stay longer and drink more
I now I can't Well, maybe we can plan something for next week. I am dropping my 2.0l out this weekend and welding in the Patrick mount and putting in my 2.4l I can't wait. Next week would be a good time to do something.... Maybe we can do go karts or something.
Next week then. I'd be pressed for time today as it is. Thanks.
If you guys are looking for something to do this weekend I will be down at the shop getting the 2.4l ready to go in and getting it in. I will be down there all day Saturday and Sunday. The shop is located on 79th and Greenwood Ave N. in Seattle. It is called Matt's Greenwood Autocare. It's where I used to work before I got into real estate and they still let me use the shop when I need. It would be great to see you guys. Call me if you are on your way..
Well, after working from 10am to 1am I got the 2.0l out and torn down. The carbs on the 2.4l rebuilt. Valves adjusted. Pieces washed and preped. The 2.4l is now ready to go in. It looks very good. I will take some pictures today when I go back down. I should be there from about 11:00 until late tonight. My welder friend is coming down to weld in the Patrick motor mount around 4:00 today. I can finally get rid of the quick six bar. It's amazing how long things can take when you keep putting stuff in the parts washer and then paint them. If anyone wants to stop by to see the progress feel free.
I tried to post earlier, but was let down by my connection. Good Work Jon!
So I just got home and without my car I have everything in. I just need to connect the wiring harness, fill the oil, put the tank back in and fill it (took it out as I didn't want the fuel lines near what was being welded), and then time to dial in the carbs. My friend didn't get there to weld in the motor mount until 4pm. after it was welded and paint was dry enough I just ran out of time. I hope to finish it tomorrow but it will depend on if the have a bay open I can work in. I have some pics and will take more of everything in the car. Hope you all had a good weekend.
I see the light at the end of the tunnel
Someone one please tell me its not a train!
Good work Jon!
Well it wont be my train as Iam actually off for the next 29 hours! Anything going on tomorrow?
can't tomorrow, gotta go see the lawyer agian about the ex.
LL baseball in Alderwood
In Bellingham to sign the lease for my soon to be home.
I wouldn't mind grabin a drink Larry. If you want to come into Edmonds or something. I need a break. My car is all ready.... I have fuel in it and just need to add oil. Then prime everything and then check everything... I am taking tomorrow off of looking at it Had to catch up on all the work I missed this weekend today and I am spent. I need to grab a drink.
Let me know if anyone wants to grab drink tomorrow night.
It's been a few months since I have been to a Teener Tuesday, but I would like to do one in the North End. I live in Arlington.
snowing in Bremerton AGAIN!
Jon has to learn how to drive his car all over again. Different stroke, different power. I can't wait to see his times!
Once I get everything sorted out I will be bringing it out Kinda ran into something that is going to take more time... I am tired. I sure hope we figure this out quick and I don't have to pull the engine again.
I wil have to relearn how to drive it though. I think it will take me at least one run to figure that out The TB diff is going to be the thing I will need to get the feel for. I am use to more HP. I've driven Erics car a few times and my car should be very close to his.
SHould have it on the street tomorrow
I don't know.. I have spent so much time on my car the past week or two that my wife may not want me to do anything car related until next week or so. Who knows... she may be nice
Car's not perfect yet... needs some fine tuning but it is drivable as is. Feels much stronger than the 2.0l did though
Woohoo... my car's running good now. Next teener Tuesday I will be there
Thanks to Tim Kornacki, Dan Root, and most of all... Jeff Hines.
Super glad to see Jon's car running good. He brought it over on Sunday and I got to drive it. Dang the exhaust sounds sweet! Since I am bound to work my life away for a bit on Tuesdays still, I'll have to play catch-up on our Teener Tuesdays in a few months.
Going to put the street exhaust back on it. It sounds very nice as well but has a little more BP that this engine may need. I don't know... We'll see how long it stays that way. So when should we plan on doing something here guys? Next AX isn't for 2+ weeks.
HA... I have a cool wife, but she's not going to let me go to that one. Her birthday is Monday and we a celebrating hers and my sister-in-laws that day.
Dinner next Tuesday guys? Maybe South Center or Seattle?
Or if the North end guys don't feel like driving down, maybe the South end guys at Tides Tavern in Gig Harbor?
Hey, any of you local guys.... Troy, Chris, anyone... want to help me fit my front bumper? My wife can't do it... or rather.. she won't do it... and to get them to fit right it is a two person job. Give me a call later tonight if you can.
Rich is going to help. Thanks
I can help in the morning. Let me know when you will be up.
we got it licked, didnt evan get durty.
Troy if you need to bust some knuckles come on over Ill put you to work
Were you not going to come over Troy? I've got Mario cart all warmed up.
Oh... oops. Well, my running around took a little longer than I had thought anyway. Next time
i think this thread is the highest posted and viewed thread still active
ok so i forgot what thread we were using for the bremerton a/x this week end, whos gonna be there when and how with who what ever.
well i was maybe even thinking on hauling down the toyhauler to stay part of the weekend, race on saturday and maybe sunday,.
so who up for little party after the saturday a/x?
I'll be there Sat. Gerry (18 year old son) is gonna run my car in the AX during the day. I have to work the driver's skill course at the south end of the track. But, I get to run some fun runs afterwards. NOTE TO SELF, SET THE FUEL CUT LOWER.
ok truck, trailer and teener are loaded.
i have cooler fridge and small bbq, so bring what ya need
Rand i have lilli with me and we're gonna camp out over
but i have a tent if'n ya get to to drive.
I think Michelle and I are heading down tomorrow just to hang out for a while. We have a family dinner to be at by 5PM.
Sounds like we should have a good turn out tomorrow. Sweet
note to dave. set rev limiter @ 6k. screw pedle stop out 1/2". call is for rain in the afternoon. bmsp is fairly far north and that whole mountain /conversion thing. could be wet on the way home.
see you in the am. not @0730.
I'm going to try and be over for a while. If that little loose washer doesn't jam the flywheel.
marc, did that green 914 with the airbrushed rear deck become a parts car?
it's nice to have one item you have absolutely no use for off of the premises.
Kevin and I are going to ride out together. We were going to take my car but I sort of ran into a problem with it tonight . I am starting to get sick of this !!!
Either way we will be there teener or not. See you there.
What's happening now?
Kevin and I got the car running better than it has ever ran. Tonight I was on my way down to Triad to get my new exhaust installed and it started to stumble at about 60 miles an hour. As soon as I slowed down it just stalled like it was out of fuel. I was able to adjust the idle screw so it would idle at around 2000 rpm's and it got me home. Guess it was not running as good as I thought it was.
On a better note I still was able to get down to Triad with my TRUCK and pickup my new exhaust. Man is it nice.
I have my other Triad on mow so you will here how my real Triad sounds with my engine. I am glad to hear you got your Triad. Now I just hope you figure out your problem and can get you car out there. It would be good to get a big 914 group shot.
Hey does anyone local have a good spare (Eng. bay) backpad?
Any plans for tomorrow?
Nope. (Engine bay)
If anyone wants to meet up, I'll be at Diamond Knot in Mukilteo this Thursday (the 5th), about 6PM. I will at least have 914 parts with me this time... I'm picking up an engine in Bellingham.
Jon if you want that int. sound deadening material its yours. (out of the parts car)
Naw... I'm good without it. I just need the backpad to keep in class. Not suppose to have a stripped interior. Thanks though Rich
Gonna have some great beer at 6
Diamond Knot at 6 for all you local guys... that would be right across the street from the Mukilteo ferry for you guys that don't know where it is.
see ya there
Edit: Oops something came up not this time
I will be in the North Seattle area tuesday anything going on?
I'm up for something. Anyone else?
If you guys find a place where I can watch the next NBA finals game, I'll be there.
Might be if it's up north somewhere? Ah heck, even Seattle would be fine.
It is my son's last week of school. So, I doubt that I will be doing anything this week. maybe next week.
Oh what ever Chris
twist my arm.........
So, anything happening tonight?
I'm still at work (But not for long). Not much manifesting here so I think I'll head home and have a hard-cider.
Hey my wife and I are going to be in Seattle on this coming Tuesday 6/24. We are staying in a hotel near the space needle. Is there a gathering? Or anyone want to meet 4 ? I don't know the area at all - first trip this far north! Let me know.
I'm sure we can plan something.
I could always pick you up if you don't want to drive in the area. I used to live three blocks from the needle and know the area very well.
Guys, should we just plan on meeting at the Ram Brewery in Northgate? The seasonal is delicious.
Michelle and I are heading out for the weekend but I plan on draggin out the 914 to drive daily for a while. Yeah, I say lets plan something on the 24th. We have company! We must entertain.
Z's Pizza across from Fisher Plaza? Not much parking. Maybe something on the Pier? Or maybe something by the lake? There is a great pub/pool hall their. The 24th sounds good to me! I prefer not to send a newbe to Northgate.
That's why I would pick him up. The Ram is actually very nice there or we could just go to the one in U village. Downtown just sucks for parking.
Forks isn't really close by. It's on the tip of the peninsula. I think the Seattle ferry goes close to there though. We'll figure something out. Really, the Northgate Ram is right off I-5. Easy to get to from where you will be but we may all decide on another place. We'll figure it out. Glad to see fellow teeners from other areas.
I have a new guy starting today I have to train up this week, but I plan on driving the 914 to work tomorrow. I work in the "U" dist, so I can have a seat if needed.
We can give that a shot. Sounds like a good start.
post location and addy. See you Tuesday work allowing.
cool, I can find that.
So we should plan meeting at the Ram in Northgate at 5:30? I going to need to have my wife come home as early as she can so I may be a touch late but I'll be there.
13 coins is only good after 2am
close to space needle. we will wait.
They said their hotel is across the street from the Neddle. I don't really know what hotel for sure but they are at least within walking distance of the Needle and 13 coins isn't that far from there if they wanted to meet you up there. However, it would be easier for them if you could meet them at the hotel.
I'm sure Jim will post on here again soon. We can get the details from them when they do.
Sorry, we are on the road (Vancouver, WA now) and have not had internet access all the time. We are staying at the Best Western Executive Inn in Seattle (200 Taylor Avenue N). According to Google it is about 7 miles south of the Ram.
I really appreciate the effort to pull something together last minute; it will be great to meet anyone that can make it.
I will have internet access at the hotel in Seattle so someone (our ride/rides) can PM me and I can send them a cell phone number. I probably won't be back on-line until the afternoon/evening when we get to Seattle.
Well I have to get on the road.
Settle down Mike... We still have a full day before we need to worry
I understand Mike. I just like giving you a hard time
OK, we made it into town safe and sound.
I guess Root_Werks and 6freak are our rides out to the Ram, thanks!!
I spoke to 6freak on the phone and we tentatively set a 4:30 pick-up time with a short tour to the Ram.
Root_Werks, if the time needs to be adjusted chime in or get in touch with 6freak, we are on vacation so our time is flexable.
Looking forward to tomorrow evening.
Cool! I didn't get a chance to dig out the 914 tonight cause I just got home. If I can't dig it out for tomorrow, one of you will get to ride in my bug.... but it has 914 fuchs on it!
I should be there. Will be trying to get out of work around 4 or so.
Sounds like we should have a good turn out
Yup, should be a good turn out today. I was up this morning with the Go-Jacks swinging the 914 around in the garage so I could pull it out. Feels good to drive the little guy, it's been a while.
So 6Freak and myself will do a pick-up of our visitors at 4:30PM by the 13 coins next to the space needle. Then we'll head up to RAM in northgate for food and beverage.
downtown location is 125 Boren AVE. you guy are going to drive INTO the heart of the beast during the evening commute ? are you crazy ?
