914World.com _ 914World Garage _ teener tuesday puget sound teeners

Posted by: messix Apr 2 2006, 07:49 PM

i know there are about ten guys up north, seattle to marysville that need to get together now that there is some sun light after six pm. so we could meet up at some establishment for food and drink and bench racing.
we could come up with a regular spot or some one could pick a new place every week or biweekly that they would like to turn us on to.

wudda think guys?

I vote for the XXX Drive-In in Issaquah for one of the Tuesdays! jsharp.gif and beer3.gif (Homemade Rootbeer)

Good stuff!!! Plus the Drive-In folks there are car club friendly!

It's an idea for warmer weather.

Nate

Posted by: Headrage Apr 2 2006, 08:24 PM

I like Pikes market.

Is it teener friendly?

Posted by: Bleyseng Apr 2 2006, 08:26 PM

Some 911/914 guys on Pelican NW BBS already meet at the XXX once a month on Sat. Its a good car meet with a drive sometimes..

Pike Place is fun on a Sat morning too. During the week there isn't too much to do there esp after 5pm except hit the bars.

Posted by: messix Apr 2 2006, 08:32 PM

pike place market? no way to much of a frigging zoo.

tripx would be good. we've got 3 hooters we can go to.

for good food there's that greek italian pplace in canyon park, and canyons at canyon park.

a coulpe of places in kirkland at carrilion point [park in the fire zone circle]

some good places in snohomish.

la familia in millcreek.

red hook in woodinville.

mac minimenes [spl?] in mill creek.

any others favorites out there?

Posted by: Zaney Apr 2 2006, 08:39 PM

Burgermaster in Montlake.
Murphy's Irish Pub in Wallingford
Eylisian Brewery on Capitol Hill

Any good Pizza and Brew place works great for me!

Posted by: messix Apr 2 2006, 08:41 PM

the rocker pizza and brew in alderwood

Posted by: Zaney Apr 2 2006, 08:44 PM

sad.gif Sounds great except I have shifts falling on the next three Tuedays.
If we get it rolling folks will make if they can!

I'm in! beer.gif

Posted by: messix Apr 2 2006, 08:46 PM

no problem there zaney you cook and we'll come on down. everone knows fire fighters can cook.

Posted by: Zaney Apr 2 2006, 08:48 PM

Anything can be cooked on a BBQ!

Except the beer would have to be Root flavored chowtime.gif

Posted by: lsimburger Apr 2 2006, 08:48 PM

I have not meet many local teeners, I hope this is an open invitiation. Sure would like to meet a few of you. I live in south Everett, Issaquah is a streach but I should be able to make a few meetings.
Larry Simburger

Posted by: messix Apr 2 2006, 08:52 PM

of course this is an open invite. this is a non-club club.
and i live just northeast of millcreek, your in my nieborhood.
we might have to split this thing up for south sound and north sound groups or people could just pick which one sounds closer or more fun.

Posted by: Bleyseng Apr 2 2006, 09:01 PM

Well, lets make it quick as I leave for 2 months to South America....I'll be at the April 9th Harmon Brewery meet if I can.

Hope the rest of you make it esp you guy up north of Seattle. beer.gif

Posted by: messix Apr 2 2006, 09:09 PM

ok shall i call this our first teener tuesday april 4th meet at the lynnwood hooters. [unless some one else has a better place around lynnwood].
i'm off work at 6pm so i'll be there 'bout 6:20

Posted by: Rand Apr 2 2006, 09:15 PM

That works.

I vote for Red Hook some time in the future. smilie_pokal.gif

Once a week would probably be a bit too frequent for me to get away with, but I would love to hang out once or twice a month.

Great idea Troy! Let's do it.

Good idea. Tuesdays are usually good for me but I'm committed for the next two weeks. I agree with Rand that every week may be too much, although with everyone having busy schedules some people will always be available. Whether twice a month or every week it's a good idea to do it the same day. TripX works good, but I'm game for North end locations also, just tell me where.

Posted by: messix Apr 2 2006, 10:36 PM

i also think every week is hard for people to make,

Posted by: messix Apr 2 2006, 10:45 PM

btw i thinnk every other tuesday would be good unless this thing really takes off and the need for more teener bonding calls for every week.

Posted by: dinomium Apr 3 2006, 12:33 AM

sounds good to meez, I will try to make it, but living in Bremerton makes it tuff!

Posted by: porsha916 Apr 3 2006, 07:32 PM

I would also like to meet more teeners from the area! Bellingham is a bit of a ride for a tuesday night, any chance of having it on a weekend or a little farther north!!!

Posted by: Bleyseng Apr 3 2006, 08:05 PM

As I had said there is a meeting at the XXX once a month on the second Saturday. See the link:

A group of us track junkies meet the first Wednesday of every month in West Seattle. We have three regulars who are 914 owners.

This Wednesday we are meeting at the Pacific Rim Brewery in White Center on 14th Ave SW. Everyone is welcome. 7:00 pm.

Unfortunately my teener is still spread all over the garage ... and workshop.

I don't get out of the neighborhood too much until after April 15th ... CPA kind of stuff.

Eddie

Posted by: messix Apr 3 2006, 11:53 PM

maybe we should just meet at eddy's house and put his teener back together for him, no more excuses.

Let me know when and where. I believe that we will be meeting tonight at hooters in lynnwood? What time? Some times I can make it. Sometimes not. But tonight looks good.

Posted by: Solo914 Apr 4 2006, 10:12 AM

Are you guys meeting today? I was looking forward to meeting some of the Northwest teeners but I am picking it up today from the painter and taking it straight to the windshield shop to have the new windshield installed. I am thinking that if I play my cards right I should have it all back together by Sunday night. So? Next tuesday huh.gif biggrin.gif

Posted by: rjames Apr 4 2006, 10:58 AM

I'm a about 3 weeks (and a new carpet kit that I'm waiting for to show up) from being able to drive the 914 anywhere, but like the idea of a semi-regular get together.

Twice a month or so would be cool- and maybe we keep moving the location around so that it's fair for everyone?

Posted by: Eddie914 Apr 4 2006, 03:53 PM

Eddy,

Your teener has always been a lot more "put together" than mine.

I suspect that is why you go by "Smooth Eddy". Maybe I should be "Rough Eddie" to match the condition of my teener.

I couldn't make it because we had a water leak upstairs and I came home to soggy sheetrock in the kitchen downstairs. Poked a hole in some sagging tape and drained a half gallon of water into a bucket.
headbang.gif
So I spent the evening fixing the leak (fortunately that was minor), cutting out the soggy sheetrock, and drying things out. Tonight I get to put it back together.

Tim,
Wish I could make it this weekend but I am going out of town. Don't know if I told you are not but I bought a 914 this winter. I figured that I couldn't keep driving my Miata at the PCA events for ever and I was getting tired of driving Dads 911 sc. Anyways, I just got it back from the paint shop and I am puting it back together. I need to take in to Fordahls and have it alligned too. Well, see you at the next pca or scca event. Have a good one.

DANG IT!

Wierdest coincidence! So, the girlfriend and I rushed out the door(woodinville) to go meet you guys in carnation and had to run a few errands. Just as a pull into the shopping center where Top Foods is the car dies. So, I spent an hour going around the car trying to figure out what the heck is going on(fuel, Fuel Lines, Fuel Pump? Air Flow Meter, hoses or wires? etc) but in the middle of all this a young boy walks up and starts talking to me about his dads 914 and how he and his Dad work on it and the such. I asked if his Dad was around(at this time I have got my own Dad on speaker phone on my cell) and the kid tells me that his Dad is out with the 914 guys from the 914 Club....HAHAHAHA... That's where I am supposed to be!!!! Anyways, I got to meet Rand's son last night and what a great young man. We BS'd about the car while I climbed in/on and around it but to no avail. I ended up having it back to the house and I will have to take a look at it tonight.

Teener Tuesday Alert!

Tuesday, May 23. Let's meet at the Roanoke Inn on the north end of Mercer Island. 1825 72nd Ave SE. Parking is tight, but I've arranged for reserved parking across the street at the VFW Hall. I'll be there by 6:30 PM.

The Roanoke is a cool old place, has an old roadhouse feel to it with a big front porch and a patio. Good food and a pretty crusty atmosphere for an upscale neighborhood. Best part is the tour around Mercer Island afterwards - some real fine twists and turns. The Kitsap guys could take the Bremerton ferry and be there 15 minutes after they hit the dock in Seattle.

I did get the stitches outta my toe, but I think the rain and inablity to wear any shoes or sock are going to keep me sidelined for another week

Posted by: Eddie914 May 23 2006, 12:35 PM

This is killing me! Close ... so very close! But I don't think I can make the event (the Roanoke Inn is even nice and close).

We got the 3.2 into the teener this weekend. WOW! Scary fast (once it's running on the main jets). Unfortunately the idle circuits on the Webers still need a lot of work. Lots of coughing and popping. It's got fresh fuel and the bowls and passages have been cleaned multiple times. Looks like the 46's are going to have to come off for a thorough cleaning and set-up. I'm tempted to put the 40's on for a test.

Additionally, my wife is working this evening and the kids need my attention.

Have a great time!

Eddie

Posted by: Eddie914 May 24 2006, 03:49 PM

Glad you all had fun without me!

I had fun(?) trying to get the 3.2 to idle (again) with the 46mm Webers. We tried increasing the idle jet size from #60 to #65 (thanks to an ass dragger friend who canabalized the Webers on his 911 Carerra RS) with minor improvements. It still would not idle on all six cylinders but the popping was reduced somewhat.

I finally gave up and ripped the 46's off and put on a set of 40mm Webers from the old 2.7. I plugged in a set of #60 idle jets and ... WOW! Finally! The new 3.2 fired up and idled evenly on all six cylinders. The balance on the 40's was still fine after they had been sitting on the shelf for 9 months. She's a driver again!

Where is next Tuesday's meeting?

Where would you like Teener Tuesday to be?

Posted by: KELTY360 May 24 2006, 04:03 PM

Here's another pic from last night with a few of the guys: Morgan, Chris, Jim, Kyle and Kevin. The Mercer Island circuit was a hoot if you like hairpins and dark, rain slick roads.

If any of you south end guys are feeling left out, I will be going down around Oly and then up the Hood canal on sunday for my girlfriend's birthday. Looking to go up to one or two of the forts and eating dinner at the Nifty Fifties diner in Port Townsend. I just hope the weather will improve before then. Who is up for it??? Dino? DNHunt? Morgan? We could do "checkpoints" of where to get more cars into the line and continue up the canal.

Lots o fun! I think the next teener tuesday is in two weeks. I don't know about the rest of you, but I am personally in favor of driving before getting something to eat. More light, more fun.

Hey Guys!

I'm really sorry about driving the "assdragger" Greenie had an appointment with her favorite set of jackstands.

Regarding why I needed to leave & not tackle the twisties, I've just heard the taildraggers can't keep up with the teeners so why bother? pray.gif

I also needed to get home , I had a long night ahead polishing up Greenies Trophy from the Mothers Day Show!!

Jim - Can't make it. sad.gif If it doesn't rain you should have a blast - I hear the Nifty Fifties serves a mean burger. chowtime.gif

I dunno if I can make it. I am planning on going to the PCA autox or drivers skills day at Bremerton Raceway and Sunday I have promised the wife to do "what ever she wants" wich means clean the basement....

IF you have the time, you should cut over at Belfair to the North Shore, find the road that links to Dewatto and take the long way to Bremerton or Sebeck! It is a GREAT drive!! Two lane twistys with a gas stop half way! It is a gem of a drive...

Posted by: sportlicherFahrer May 26 2006, 04:49 PM

Looks like I cant even make it now for Sunday! sad.gif Work scheduled me at the last minute, so that kinda ruins that! Maybe we can all get together and make that drive later in the season. It would be more fun that way.

You are right Kev. I am talking ruston way Ram. There is also the Dock St. bar/restaurant down here on the water. It has better parking, and is a little more quiet. I will work on getting an address for the bar this weekend. I will give you a call about that impact wrench as well.

Posted by: sportlicherFahrer Jun 3 2006, 02:42 AM

Found the address for the Dock St. Landing. I think that it would make a much better location as far as parking, and it is usually way less crowded.

Lets say about 7pm? Give any northend guys a little time to get off work and fight that traffic, or take the scenic route. cool.gif

I might have a pretty long day at work next Tue. (till 7 or 8 maybe). Not sure yet. So something around Seattle would be nice for me.

Posted by: rjames Jun 15 2006, 09:57 AM

I know that there was already a meetup in Carnation, but someplace similar (an area with twisty backroads) would be cool.

Posted by: kevine Jun 15 2006, 10:43 AM

I am out of town next Tuesday, and my 914 spewed oil all over my front right tire and wheel well on the way home last night (where the external oil cooler is located).

kevine

Posted by: Eddie914 Jun 15 2006, 10:58 AM

I'm in!

The 914/6 3.2 is finally close to road ready, and my wife will be town to look after the kids for the first time in nearly a month.

The heat shielding needs to be double checked on the oil supply line at the engine mounted oil cooler. The hose I'm currently using can't handle the heat from the headers.

The Webers 46IDA3C carbs still are NOT ready, but the engine is running pretty well on the old 40's off the 2.7.

See you there! Where?

Posted by: Bleyseng Jun 16 2006, 07:26 AM

I have one I can loan you and I have the Janbo tester that can test the FI out including the wiring harness. I do have a 1.7l wiring harness laying around for the connectors.

What are the problems you are having?

I am back in town and I am confused as to exactly when the next little ron-day-vous is? confused24.gif

Posted by: rhodyguy Jun 16 2006, 08:28 AM

he's bound and determined to tear off the djet and purchase carbs, linkage, a dif dist, a new fuel pump, filters, etc...i told him to SAVE some money and buy a harness from bowlsby. what do i know? very little, but that's a given. he just has a few connector issues at this point. intermitent fi probs.

k

Posted by: Bleyseng Jun 16 2006, 08:57 AM

Yes, most of the issues with Djet are harness related due to old connectors and people ripping/pulling on them when in the engine bay. Bowlsby harness fixes alot of the Djet issues other than a MPS problem.
The Janbo tests all those connections and usually reports connects problems.

I'm voting for the Mercer Island run, only because it's closer and I'm a little suspect of my alternator or relay board or something that may be hindering my car's ability to charge the battery to the correct voltage. Speaking of, does anybody have a known good relay board that can bring (and maybe let me borrow for that night) to test against mine to see if my charging issues might be stemming from a bad board?

Careful at Gerber. When I frist bought my 914 and didn't know any better, I took it to them to check the fuel pressure. They found that I had a bad fuel pump. Without calling me first to approve any work ahead of time (like I requested) they replaced the fuel pump and then charged me $650 for the job. blink.gif

I know how much a fuel pump costs ($100ish) and how much time it take to put one in. So when I asked them what the other $500 was for they said that it was charges for labor for the time spent to put it in and measure the fuel pressure.

So they way I figure it they charge about $500 per hour for labor. For that much I should have at least got an oil/tranmission fluid change.

Posted by: Bleyseng Jun 17 2006, 01:43 PM

Ok Rich, I can make some time to tune the car with the LM-1 meter. I'll talk to Blair as he runs the software better than I do.

I think I have a ready to go 1.7L MPS I can bring to tune to your setup. Maybe after work this week during the week?

Welding a bung takes about a half and hour to do for the O2 sensor.

Adjust the valves and all that other dizzy stuff before we do anything as the tuning will depend on the rest being in spec. Should run like a champ afterwards!

Now is this Rich that is up in mill creek? Or seattle? I just remembered that I went up to a guys house up there for 914 work, and ended up being a few days late for the party! If it is Rich up in mill creek, I believe that I know how to get there. I have a really good memory still.

Not sure if my schedule will let me make it, but I need directions and a phone # just in case. Please PM me - thanks.

Yep, Rich from Mill Creek area. I think you can get to his place by using either the 128th or the 164th ST exits. I just can't remember the cross street to turn on from there. I'd post my cell #, but since I can't remember the way, it wound't do much good. smile.gif

How about we all meet up at the Bahama Breeze lot and go from there. I am sure one of us will know how to get there.

I know the way then. I use to meet up at the Round Table down the street from him with my VW club back in the day, so THAT part of the journey is pretty well set in my head. I still think meeting at a central location would be good and then drive from there since I dont have the address.

I'm located in North Seattle, so unless you guys are meeting north of downtown, I need an address of a final destination. Just as long as somebody posts something or PM's me before 4:30 with where to meet, I'll be there. Looking forward to putting more faces to names! beer.gif

Bahama Breeze 15700 Southcenter Parkway, Tukwila 206-241-4448

I'll try to be there around 5PM if I can. Sounds like at least one of us will know the way. smile.gif

Robert, Rich's place isn't too far from you. I5, 164th towards Mill Creek.... I'll leave it to Rich if he wants his address in the public forum. PM if you like.

I'm not going to drive down to Southcenter, then drive back up to the north end, in nasty traffic. On a weeknight, I'm hoping things get rolling at Rich's before it gets late.

What time at Rich's?????
