17" wheels?

looks great, and fast

Posted by: Joe Ricard Apr 3 2006, 08:29 PM

Wish I had some specifics on the car. It does look like a bad ass ride.

My guess would be 16's...supposedly there is a better selection of AX slicks in 16"

nice car
the small windshield looks cool too

must be a very small driver though

according to the results #9 would be Tricia. So yea that might explain the forward seat position.

Sure are pretty wheels. nothing but a purpose built car here. I suppose I will somehow evolve into that.

It has raised front spindles & coilovers I think, but that's all I can tell you about it. welder.gif

How do you do that? I could only tell it was a yellow 914 with a six. and only because of it's class.

That car is WAY to sweet. Anyone who knows these folks, or even lives near by needs to track them down and get some photos/details for the rest of us.

I raised the spindles last year for him, and the struts had coilover sleeves on them.

Cheater. biggrin.gif
I blew the picture up and was thinking "what the hell is different"?
Whatever it was that car is fast. looking at the times the guy was damn close to TTOD. Hard to beat a great driver in an Elise on new A6 Hoosiers.
Seems like Super Stock and A stock are where all the top drivers are congregating. Which is good because there is room for me and my old bugger in XP. biggrin.gif

Seems strange that they don't run any front spoiler.

Wonder why?

Took note of that too. My reason for not running a front spoiler is I suck at driving and have been know to just whack a slalom cone dead center instead of missing the damn thing and DNF'ing the run (Read hard on Spoilers).
Been spying that rear tail on the car. Plexi or Lexan with Nascar sytle struts to hold it up. Slick I like it.

Posted by: URY914 Apr 4 2006, 07:33 AM

But as far as having any effect on the car, I'd say a front spoiler will do more than a rear lip. And if you're only going to run one and not the other, I'd run the front only.

That's why I took my rear lip off, don't think it really does anything.

But than again, thier times looks like it works for them.

16 inch max wheels in FP.
If I hang a bunch of decals on the shitbox, will ya'll say nice things about me?.....or do I have to go fast too? laugh.gif

Yes 16" in FP
Yes we will say nice things
and YES it helps to go FAST.
Oh and this was a pretty big pond for all you frogs av-943.gif

Paul as I understand it a taller rear spoiler like that would probably help at AX speeds. Just to keep the rear end pushed down and hopefully get some heat in the tires.
Also looking at the front windshield which looks nearly identical to the spoiler..... Steeper angle might be beneficial to adding down force too.

Posted by: URY914 Apr 4 2006, 09:11 AM

Downforce? Remember spoilers smooth out air flow and reduce drag. Wings provide downforce. wink.gif

I don't think a rear spoiler does a a whole lot until you get over 60 mph. How long are you at 60 mph on an a/x course? 10 seconds max?

Posted by: Joe Ricard Apr 4 2006, 09:22 AM

Well I'm no artist but better than Miles.
I think this car was very well thought out.

A front spoiler is needed to keep air out from under the car. When air gets under it it lifts the car.

Lift=BAD. mad.gif

I suppose that is more if a problem @ 1350 pounds laugh.gif

There is something under there just can't make it out.

Am I the only one that likes reading AX results?
Some are skewed by weather/temps, but it's fun to see who should beat who........but no way to find out why.
A DP civic looked like the fastest door slammer.

Posted by: Mike T Apr 5 2006, 09:29 AM

I read 'em too. I've been obsessed with autocrossing since my first one way back in 19mumblemumble...

Reading the results from the sunny states gets me stoked during the frozen Northeast winters.

Mike T

Oh, thanks for the link But once I realized NT meant National Tour I headed for SCCA.org clap56.gif
