Ok, so I asked a week or so ago about How to Ship an Air Dam.
The majority of the responses were to "go with Greyhound".
Now, where do I find a Box for this IMSA-styled Air Dam?
go behind your local supermarket. steal 5 lays potato chip boxes. cut and tape. works great.
Auto Body shop.
They receive BIG parts in BIG boxes.
Eddie
5-6 foot tall wardrobe box from UHaul....cut in half and save the remainder....
Got a bunch of boxes at my house. might have one that fits.
How about a bicycle shop, be they have a lot of big boxes
Or a furniture store.
Any heavy cardboard box will do. Cut them to the right size. Use fiberglass tape to hold them together. Use several layers of bubble wrap on the ends to absord shocks and bangs. Put a couple layers of bubble wrap on the top and bottom and you should be good to go
Try a gun shop.
Seriously.
They have some odd shaped boxes, plus some really long ones.
I shipped a 1 piece fiberglass bumper/air dam last month, but I paid too much for it... using Fedex freight.
But, to box it up I went to a U-haul store and bought 2 dish-pack double-layer boxes (18"x18"x36"... I think). I slid them over either end and overlapped the extra... taped it all up and it was good to go. But, with that method the package ends up being oversize 3, which means >$100 to ship.
Find a snowboard box, or get a flat piece of cardboard from your local shipping supply store and use a box knife and measuring tape to form a box.
