914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Guess which Club member is picking up a cherry 914 on Wednesday?
Posted by: VegasRacer Apr 17 2006, 10:58 AM
Come one. Come all. Help us celebrate.
When: Wed. April 18th 1:00 pm
Where: Hooter Casino on Tropicana in Las Vegas.
If you have been around the Club for any length of time, you know the buyer, you know the seller and you know the car. The new owner is flying into Vegas at noon on Wednesday, April 18th. You are all invited to come witness the change of ownership at the Hooters Casino. After the exchange the new owner will be driving his new prize home.
Ok. Start guessing. Who is the seller? Who is the buyer?
Posted by: jhadler Apr 17 2006, 11:03 AM
Would it give it away if I said that the buyer is a member of the "white glove" contingent? (his words, not mine...)

I will try to make it... I need to get there anyway, I sold them a Hummer golf cart and need to do a little PR with them.

Think I figured out the buyer, didn't know Scott was selling the Shalom
Posted by: VegasRacer Apr 17 2006, 11:50 AM
A clue: The seller says he will be down to only 19 cars when this sale is completed.
Posted by: neo914-6 Apr 17 2006, 11:54 AM
Hope it's not yours, would you still be a member?
SteveLV has a bunch there so he's my next guess.
Has Renegade completed Tom's Suby conversion?
See you there in November...

Does the seller have a second home based out of palm springs??
Jen

3)Buy bondo
4)28 cans of Krylon
5)Pick up day labor on D street
6)Deliver car in the darkest corner of the parking garage

Swaybars are over-rated, and so is having a lot of horsepower for that matter. Take your car, once the 3.2L conversion is done. You'll be getting tickets all the time, pushing the capabilities of both the car and the driver to the limits while potentially endangering the innocent public at large.
Now, consider the dijon bomb, you can take it to redline at will in most gears without breaking any laws, yet you still get the exhilaration of indy car like sounds while maintaining safe and sane speed and performance. The same goes for sway bars. While Mike and Waide were leisurely motoring along, I was holding on for dear life, all without exceeding the speed limit.
Safe is good, the motoring public thanks you.

That is not overspray, it's accenting..... big difference! Notice how it gradually blends in with the chassis. Anybody can mask off a wheel well to paint the exterior, but it takes skill to properly blend the two together.

Now you're talking.
1:00 PM Wednesday April 19th.
Hooters Hotel & Casino. 115 E Tropicana Ave.
1/2 block east of The Strip. Next to the Tropicana. Across from MGM.
It is what was the old San Remo Hotel Casino.
In the back of the casino there is what looks like a regular Hooters restaurant.
See you there. I sent you a PM with my cell phone number.

John had to work, so I imagine he'll get pics posted when he gets home later tonight. It was good seeing Ferg again. We should all be very proud of him, not one complaint! I'd like to say it's because the car was so good he couldn't find anything wrong, but we all know that's not true. I think he's just happy to have something he can enjoy driving without being so concerned about it getting hurt. I suggested he pick up a lug wrench, in the event of a flat (the car already had the jack and hubcap removal tool) and he said quite confidently that in the event of a flat, he has AAA.
He was a pleasure to deal with, and I'm sure they'll have many happy miles together. Last I heard he made it to Utah in short order, with no issues.
I did notice a little more leakage than usual when looking it over in the parking lot. It had a very light leak from the oil cooler seals ever since the engine was installed, but now the filter was a bit wet. So either the light leak progressed to a class II, or it may have a bad oil filter. It just had an oil change a few weeks ago, and everything looked great, so I'm betting on a bad filter, or maybe the seal on the old filter got stuck to the filter console, and now it has two seals sandwiched together. Either way it's not leaking enough to be an issue, just annoying.
I hope Ferg has a good trip, he should be back home by Monday. I'm sure he'll eventually find the Concours 914 he's been dreaming about, until then this will keep him in the club.
Oh, and our waitress had the biggest "eyes" in proportion to her "face" I've seen in a while

Ferg has made it Moab in one piece and was happy with the car. I don't know how it does it with only 70hp or so, but the little car will motor right up the hills at 85mph as long as you keep it around 3500rpm. Use the torque Luke.......Use the torque.
