RRC 06 is coming.
put it on your calendar right away!

can't wait to see everyone again
If you didn't make it last year you really really missed out

*** HOTEL INFO ***

We currently have 25 rooms reserved at http://www.aarchwayinn.com/
Please make sure to tell them you are with 914club (this is important, in case we need to add more rooms to our reservation). You can also ask for "Candy" if you have any problems booking the room at a discount.
It is the same hotel as last year, but better
New owners have upgraded the furniture, bedding, carpet, and breakfast
Eric, they may even have new bathroom floors for you to lay on.

This year's rate is only $5 more than last year and is set at $85 a night for a 2 queen room.

I also requested reserve parking for our group

A registration fee for the event has not been established yet, but last year's fee basically covered food for the entire trip, with a little left over for a local moab charity.

I think we need to hold their feet to the fire this year and get them to rope off the lower parking area for us. I have a feeling the crowd is going to be larger this year and if a few people tow...we're gonna need room.

For those of you who have signigicant others on the fence about coming................My wife is planning on hiking on Saturday. Car stuff does not thrill her, so she will be spending the day outdoors. there will be plenty of room in her support vehicle to carry all of those interested. (in case some of you only come in one car)

i'm thinking she will be hiking to Delicate Arch

I was reading some of the comments from WCC, and it appears that there are a number of people that were not able to attend, that are considering attending the RRC in September. If your coming the sooner you can book your rooms the better. This will allow us (TROJANMAN) to reserve another block of rooms for the event. Come one come all !!!!!

I think I am planning on heading to Flagstaff on Thursday and staying there Thursday night. Leave for Moab first thing on Friday morning from there. It worked well last year. I'm guessing it will be me, WaideS, Ernie(ThinAir914) at a minimum. Perhaps some others will join as we get closer. It is 8 hours from Scottsdale to Moab if you make good time. As it gets closer we'll get a group together. Look forward to meeting some of the Tucson group.

Ok, sort of off topic but....

How many RRC goers are thinking about bringing young kids? I'm *hoping* to bring my 16 year old daughter and 14 year old son this year... maybe we can work out a kidsitting deal. Both kids have gone to a 2 day babysitting safety class.

Nothing 100% certain at this point, just trying to figure out if parents would be interested and/or comfortable with my kids (or other participants kids!) babysitting so all parents can participate in the afterhoursparkinglotextraveganacelebrations!

There is no way I would ever miss the most dysfunctional event on the club calendar. Had a great time last year.

Oh, and for the benefit of all, I propose we all chip in a little extra to hire a camera guy to follow Joe O. at all times. While I'm proud to have witnessed a few highlights, I still kick myself for missing the front desk incident, and I never got to see the pics of Troy caring for the elderly.

I'll be there, the ball and chain is a maybe.

Just got my reservation at Aarchway Inn. I couldn't make the 2006 WCC, but I'm really looking forward to Moab. Hopefully, the roads aren't too rough for my track suspension. I'll be flat towing the car. Anyone from Phoenix area need a ride?

A great friend of mine would want to go, but he only has a 930! I was wondering, do you think his car is worthy to drive with us? He only has about 450 hp at the rear wheels, he might have troubles hanging with the 2.0's on the uphills. I guess we could wait for him!

Anyway, it is looking like I will have my wife with me. And I think with the 930's owner and his wife added with with Dana's 914 and his wife... we have six people... I think.

Spark plug wires changed and timing set. There must of been alot of because I had to chase the timing access cap down the median of a major street on the test run.

I printed up the RRC Logo and the hotel info and so forth and posted it down at Ed Andrews shop so all the teener owners can see whats happening in Moab. Eds shop is Salt Lake City. I'm pretty sure that Ed plans on joining the group in Moab. While I was at his shop Ed told me that Russ our tour guide from last year who worked for the BLM was transfered out of Moab. I hope park appreciation day is on that saturday of the event, don't have to pay to go into all the parks.

There has been some confusion in booking rooms. (hotel staff errors)
Not everyone who reserved a room was on the 914Club List, and some of you were booked at the higher rate of $109. Just to be clear, our discounted rate is only $85. (i made the appropriate corrections)

UPDATE

We now have 20 reservations booked and the number of discounted rooms available is shrinking fast.
I have spoken to the hotel and they have reserved all of our rooms in the same wing of the hotel. It also appears that they are going to Tape off the entire North Parking Lot for Us (same lot as last year, but it will be all OURS )

I'm finally catching up on the club after getting back from WCC06. I think there's as much enthusiasm for RRC06 as I saw this year for WCC!

After the 2 week trip to WCC and back (and some car expense due to catastrophic Eurovan cooling fan failure near Laughlin, NV) I'm looking to save a bit on expenses if possible. Since all the rooms have two beds I'm wondering are there any guys who are in a room by themselves and who would be willing to have a room mate and split the cost? (Don't bother with the gay jokes). By accident I ended up sharing a room at WCC and there were no complaints from the other occupant.

It's gonna be a busy September. Arizona Bus Club's Jerome Jamboree the 15th-17th and RRC06 the next weekend. I'm not sure I can handle driving the teener that much

way to put me on the spot brian. i thought this was a planning "committee"

anyway, here's how it works.
The $75 that everyone is paying per person, is basically all of our "hard" costs. Almost all of it is going to food and drink, and a small amount to charity. This is a complete Not for Profit Effort.
At the most, we could probably knock a few bucks per kid, but not $30 or $40.
Last year, kids that were young enough to order "kids" meals, did so, and parents paid separately. Because the meals on Friday and Saturday are buffet style, we are paying per "head". I know there was some talk about Howard paying for the use of track, but that is purly speculation right now.
Now, If we end up putting some "paid for" goodies (still up in the air due to budget constraints) in everyones bags, and we are able to take those goodies out of the kids' bags, then we may be able to discount things a bit. We do not have sponsors that are donating cash to the event. Every sponsor is simply donating door prizes.
At this point, I would not hold up sending in your registration waiting for us to announce a discounted "kid's" price. I think parents can still plan on paying separately for their kids that are 5 and under, but most teenagers eat as much as adults. If the "committee" decides that we can discount kids, then we will do so. But like i said, there is only a small amount of the $75 that is not going towards food and drink. We will do what we can to keep the cost as low as possible for everyone.

Not a bad idea - I was considering going the southern route via Las Vegas as part of the vacation enroute but going north would be cooler for sure. I'll have to map it out to see which looks best route/stop-wise. Caravaning would be fun too! I don't care if Eric is pretty - is he a good navigator?

Anyhoo, my kids aren't coming - every time I brought RRC up, they looked at me with blank expressions on their faces....

However, I liked "Uncle Howard's" idea for the community style help with kid-care and want to volunteer to be Aunt Sharon during the Saturday drive, whether that means being Sharon Poppins at the hotel or if we flat tow the 914, I could take kids in the truck with me. We'll work it out as it gets closer. I'll take payment in (not while watching your kids, of course ) (or at least not much )

The story goes that Trader Joe's bailed out this winery and stopped them from going under, then received an exclusive contract to carry their brand. Not bad. Not great, but it's $2. I prefer to start out with a nicer bottle first, then top it off with the cheap stuff.

I'll have to check CO laws, they may be a state where I can't ship wine to otherwise. We don't have Pinot, but we have Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Shiraz, Merlot, and Cabernet. I can probably do four cases.

Howard, I think more things need to be added with regard to harassing pets, i.e. don't keep the cat locked up all week in a cage made of K'NEX; don't put tape on the cat's paws for your entertainment (although it is very funny); playing surf kitty (holding the cat under it's legs and simulating surfing motions in the air) for longer than 30 seconds is a sure way to get your face clawed; etc.

Your list was quite comprehensive, though - I'm sure, though, that your kids were angels and none of those rules were created as a result of something they actually did.

Greg, we were in the clear until some "friends" of ours just had their baby 6 weeks early and it scared the out of her.

I told her Mike would loan me his new 6 and I could be home in 48 minutes if I hit all the lights correctly, besides I should be fine to drive most all of the weekend since I don't drink

That was our problem, getting the OK from both of our jobs. Meanwhile I've been getting the car ready. I've put $1600 in the car in the last week to prep for this trip. Thanks Racerchris!!! It has new stainless fuel lines, motor mounts, tune-up, alignment, new Yokohamas....boy, is it riding nice and smooth now!!
