Posted by: biosurfer1 Sep 23 2003, 12:07 AM

I've tried a ton of ideas, but they are all already taken, so i thought i'd come to you all for help, I need some ideas on what to get. I have 7 letters to work with (for those not from CA) so start firing and i'll see what i like and see if they are available. here are some i've tried that were taken:

nine14
94teen
amo 914(even italian is taken)
74 914
my914
bks 914(initials)
pors914

a couple more i can remember, help me out people!!

Posted by: VegasRacer Sep 23 2003, 01:14 AM

You can test out your 7 letter / number choices on this site.

Here are three that are up for grabs
POOR 14
N1NE 14 - (with a one not an eye)
even 914PORS is available.

Let me know what else I can do to help with any license plate questions.

looks like you've got 94 there!

914 would be CMXIV I believe.

Posted by: VegasRacer Sep 23 2003, 09:22 AM

It's been right there as my 'member title' for 6 months.

<------------

BTW - It is taken according to the Cal. DMV.

Posted by: URY914 Sep 23 2003, 09:27 AM

Like I said, I'm no Roman.

Anyone know if there is a way to check plate availability for Florida?

Posted by: jarbuthnot Sep 23 2003, 07:31 PM

What about ITSA 914 Looks like it's available, with a half space.

Kellzey
All I could find in Florida was to renew plates and/or change address. No plate availablility checker.

Posted by: vsg914 Sep 23 2003, 07:36 PM

Karl, Call your dmv. they can tell you if a plate is availble or not.

Posted by: seanery Sep 23 2003, 08:01 PM

HAHA Garold has ITSA 914 in Indiana.

Posted by: Red-Beard Sep 23 2003, 08:02 PM

How about...

EIN 914

or is that taken

EIN 9146 is taken......

If you're going to get a personalized plate I'd suggest getting something that is obscure and means something to you or is extrememly clever and tough to figure out.

What's the point of putting a plate like "74 914" on a 914? Isn't it obvious? And does anyone else really care that it's a '74? I always liked Chris' plate "RAVENNA" - only a true 914 addict would get it.

Posted by: double-a Oct 7 2003, 09:18 AM

say, since these are german cars, why not a plate in the teener's native language? no, i don't know german, but after a little research i found these:

"fliegen" (to fly)
"tschuss" (informal 'goodbye')
"schnell" (fast)

Posted by: Air_Cooled_Nut Oct 7 2003, 09:32 AM

Oregon is still in the dark ages...we only get 6 characters mad.gif That one extra character makes a BIG difference in what you can put on your plate. Humph!

Posted by: JRust Oct 7 2003, 10:38 AM

I've thought many times of putting Dleech. I think most 914 owners would get that wink.gif

I named my car the leech for the amount of money it has sucked out of me! headbang.gif

Posted by: Lawrence Oct 8 2003, 02:38 PM

I used to have the plate "914" in Washington State. I gave it to the new owner of my first 914 when I sold the car. It might be available.

My car currently has "MY9146" in Iowa, and the LE has the plate "BUMBL B"

Posted by: Pam Oct 8 2003, 07:28 PM

Actually - the LE has 74BMBLB. Lawrence's /6 goes faster than my Bee and he can't see the plate clearly from his rear view mirror....

Yep, had that on my 73. It had "Porsche lense" between the tail lights. I got tired of people asking]
me what type of "Porche" is that thing. Now that
a have a 70 with a 914 emblem my new plate
is going to say "MYGOKRT" (my go cart)

Feel free to use ITSA914, I think Joan said she might
use that for he new ride there in Maine.

Aaaaaaah, I can see it now, old ITSA914 plates from
every state hanging on my garage wall surounding
a picture of my old 73. Sweet, my wife will know I am
nuts for sure then.............

I took the pick also ( barf.gif

My CA plate reads: 914U4IA because euphoria is what I consider driving a 914 (2nd to... you know). ohmy.gif wub.gif

I almost went with: U4IC914 as well.

Posted by: biosurfer1 Oct 9 2003, 01:06 AM

i liked nein14, very original, but i already got "9 one 4", not very original i know, but i like it, simple and to the point.

I`ve been down to the DMV 3 times now and all the tag names I had on my lists were gone, so here are the ones that are used in Florida..PLAYTHG,LOSTTAG,GOKART,POORCHA,MINE,BAIT,TROLLIN,STOLEN.There are others more personal like my name and such. Next week I`m going down with my new list.

Posted by: vsg914 Oct 9 2003, 06:18 AM

try CARTAG

Posted by: mangrum Oct 10 2003, 02:25 PM

The Michigan SOS has a Web site where you can type in your personalized plate to see if is available. Saves time driving down and standing in those long lines.

Posted by: TonyAKAVW Oct 10 2003, 03:38 PM

Mine reads AKAVW you could try something along those lines..

Well, I was, but it covered up the chickadee on the plate, so got a Loon/conservation plate (which only allows 5 characters) with NEATO which is what I think the car is. Now if I ever get to drive it again. It's having a valve replaced. Will probably get it back just in time for winter sad.gif
