914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Rear emblem colors on orig. Phx Red 914

Posted by: mstein95 May 5 2006, 05:16 PM

I want to remove the red 911 reflector from the rear of my 74 914 and replace it with the original "914" and "1.8" but I'm not positive on the color of the "914" and "1.8". Is there a 914 trim expert in the audience? What were the original color on a 1974 Phoenix Red 914?

More info:
The engine cover has gold lettering (not sure if original or not). Thought that meant the emblems should be gold but Jim, at EASY, tells me that the "914" came in gold but not the "1.8".

Appreciate any insights.

Both black, gold is not original, most likely

Both the 914 and 1.8 should be black. The 914 came in black or gold. Silver was never available. The gold was used from 70-72. When the engine designations where put on the cars they be came all black for 73-74. 75-76 cars were foil stickers not raised letters.

The engine lid letters came in silver or gold.

Black for the 914 1.8 2.0 in 1974. my 73 1.7 were silver for the 914 and 1.7 which were original to the car. The letters on your lid should be chrome/metal finished. The gold PORSCHE was on the earlier cars. 1976 had the stick on emblems.
