So now you can see why I put so much into the teener at night, I neew to blow off steam. Only other option is to beer3.gif and then I have a different problem.

I wear a different hat every day of the week. I work in a DVD production studio/DVD replication facility. Every day is completely different. Some days are strictly networking and others are spent designing or editing.

I would like to spend more time in the replication facility. Learning those machines and how to operate them seems to be a very big asset. The engineers in that department have worked all over the world.

My father and I manage a private investment fund. It's essentially a computer program that looks after itself, so I spend about an hour a day at that doing research.

I have a four year-old daughter and love being her stay-at-home Dad, so I spend about 160 hours a week doing that (except when she's at school, then I go golfing or work on my car).

Teener bills, teener bills....

Lets see....

Buying my car... Worked as a Mechanical Engineer for a computer company. The designer they gave me was incompetent (bosses friend) and the supposed 50/50 work split went 85% for me, 15% for Bobo. The bosses boss recognized the problem and I got 15% of my pay for each hour of overtime. I managed to accumulate enough overtime money to buy my 914, all new engine parts, and most all rubber. blink.gif Don't wanna think how many hours THAT was

Then I worked for a well known medical company and they paid for inventors on patents. Started at $50 per and eventually went to $1000 per with $600 on filing and $400 on issue. Being a very creative sort of guy, I would think up good patentable inventions so we would have something fun to work on, and to finance the teener habit, the go to Alaska habit and one trip back to Spain. ....As one of the top 5 inventors with 19 issued patents and 21 more in the hopper, life was good.

"Lost" my Mechanical Engineering job after 14 years at a medical corporation that has lost their ethics, integrity, and honor. To add to the "fun" the corporate "rules" were rewritten to provide no reimbursement on patents they might have neglected to pay you for before your last day.

I now work for a law firm downtown as a Registered Patent Agent writing patents. A little more money than the engineering gig, but no patent bonuses.

Sounds like we work in the same field, perhaps same company.

I'm a Production Electrical Engineer for a company that manufactures lithography machines for the semiconductor industry. We have fabs all over including Intel, IBM, Micron, etc... First job out of college was a production manager at a pressure sensor manufacturer. They made high precision/miniature sensors for Formula 1.

Yarin,

Who was it you worked for that made sensors for Fomula 1? It wasn't Airpax/Phillips Electronics/VDO/Siemens, was it. I know they made sensors for Tyrell back in the late '80s.

I'm the marketing manager for Delicato Family Vineyards drunk.gif
(see shameless plug below).

For the most part, my 914 runs on $ from rental property.

Up until April 29th I was the lowest form a life... a drummer. I have always had a day job, but it was treated as a distant second to music. The past year I had something music related, whether it be a show, a rehearsal, travel or a business meeting, pretty much 7 days a week.

My two lives finally collided when I was going to have to ask for at least 8 weeks of vacation time this year in order to tour - and that didn't include the various days where I would have to leave early.

I am very true to my birth sign (gemini) and like having a home and some disposable income almost as much as I enjoy running around the country in a bus trying to act far cooler than I am.

So, I grew my hair back, got married in September, gotta kiddo coming in November, and have been really enjoying working on our little house.

I am now just a finance guy for a big renal dialysis and blood technology company - and that is just fine.

Anyone want to buy some leather pants?

Just your run of the mill Gub'ment Physicist... blink.gif

I play with lasers and stuff...

Really, it's not as glamorous as they make it out to be in "Real Genius", but I have actually gotten to use quotes from the movie while at work. Too bad most people didn't even get it... dry.gif

It's not my reason for living, my family and my friends are the reason. I work to live, but there are others that I know that are the "live to work" variety. Oh well, it takes all kinds I guess...

The teener bills? What bills? You mean I'm getting billed for all these parts!? I thought the parts fairy just delivered them to my doorstep every time I needed something. You know... the guy in the stylish brown outfit, driving the big brown truck? The parts fairy! But geez, I didn't know he -bills- me for all that stuff...

I "work" for the state of CA 3 to 4 days a week protecting a big concrete Castle some dude with major bucks built back in the 20's. And 30's. And 40's. He didn't stop 'till he croaked. I tell the Rangers & Firefighters where to go, and watch cameras & alarms & such.

I hang out with The Cap'n 3 or 4 days a week to help support my 914 habit.

I am a Countrywide Financial employee too. Doing project coordination for upgrading 1800 branches for computer/server hardware. Not much in terms for teener funds, but all the freakin hot looking women makes it all worth while, lol.

smile.gif My old branch 815 just got upgraded in Feb. Maybe you co-ordinated it. type.gif

JP Morgan Chase pays the big bills. I work in the residential lending arena where I originate mortgages, equity lines, construction loans, and such.

Car money also comes from the one class a semester I teach Real Estate at Glendale Community College. And like Garold and others, I buy and sell 914s and 914 parts--well that's what I tell Susan. Seems I keep more than I sell. biggrin.gif

I call myself a pipe doctor.

I`ve been working as a natural gas pipeline technician for the past 16 years.
Basically I install and repair pipeline. I`m also finishing school as a gas (propane and natural) appliance technician.

Should pay for the teener bills until retirement !
