My car is going soon to the body shop for paint I am looking for pictures of black cars with and without sail vinyl. I am undecided as to the look I am after, it may be with or without or without with the lower chrome trim.

Without seems to make the car look mean. With, breaks up the lines and roof and is stylish.
Without, I think a painted roof pulls it together nice.

I always (thought) I liked the vinyl, until I bought one that had it removed.
Now I don't think I could ever go back to vinyl again!
(I do still like the bottom chrome strip to break it up a bit).
I think so too, without for now with chrome strip and painted roof. That was the picture I've been waiting for.
Thanks

And how it will be.

I think black cars look great without as long as you do the top as well. Or if you leave it you should leave the top alone too. I lean towards the without look.

What do you do to the back of the sail panel if you do not want to use the chrome? Cut the seam and weld together? Any pics?
I am going to experiment a little with this, I have two tops one I will paint smooth, the other I will leave as original.
I am going to pick up some thin sheet magnet material and glue the sail vinyl to that
leaving overhang to still tuck under the trim. If it works I can have it both ways.
That car looks great with those wheels and flares.

Might as well join in. Black is best!

I would like to add this one.
One owner, untouched original apperance group, with vinyl and silver trim.
I sure like some of the painted sails. very sweet....scott
OK I'll bite. With loose vinyl sails and bra; before. Going to go without vinyl on restore, but keep all the trim intact- I like the separation of the targa bar that way. Somehow makes the car look fatter.
Saw a picture somewhere where the targa bar was painted with 3m Splatter Paint-looked really good. I am also pondering using a "hammered" finish.
The Black and Chrome look is what I am after, My fuchs with polished paddles, chrome trim, bumpers and chrome fuel door. I will paint the sails keep all the trim. I love everyones black cars, thanks for posting the pictures. And to think I was going to paint it Signal Orange.
