neither.

Mallory unilite. with grey grey springs, and dial in your own advance curve, common practice is grey/grey springs with 12/28 advance settings (12 btdc at idle, and 28 at 3k)

if you "have" to use a stock 914 dizzy, one from an 1.8 would be a good choice...

OK, which one is in the 1.8? and can you still buy the Mallory dist and the parts for them.

You can get the Mallory unit at a number of places.

If you get it from Jake Raby, he'll set it up with the right springs for you, too. I'm not sure if he sets it up any different for a 1.7 -vs- a 2.0, but let them know what you got and I'm sure they'll set it up right for ya. http://www.aircooledtechnology.com/store/product.php?productid=16327&cat=306&page=1
