All steel. The headlights and tailights give it away!

It is being built by a shop here in SoCal that specializes in early Mercedes restoration. One of the guy's who works there is a 914 fan.

1.7 D-jet? biggrin.gif

Posted by: Mark Henry Jun 5 2006, 11:56 AM

WOW!

I don't think I've ever seen a re-body or "kit" that I like...but that is sweet!

Who ever did the work is a hell of a metal masher.

Posted by: scotty b Jun 5 2006, 11:58 AM

Damn I've gotta move to Cali. sad.gif ...Awesome freekin car except for the 80's throwback taillight lines.

best redisign I have seen on a 914

Posted by: Vacca Rabite Jun 5 2006, 11:59 AM

That is the first that I have seen of it. Until I saw the head on shot, I would not have known it was a 914.

Now there's restyle I can honestly say I like. Just a little too Enzo'ish but very nice work.

Posted by: URY914 Jun 5 2006, 12:19 PM

Pimp My Ride.

Posted by: LvSteveH Jun 5 2006, 12:41 PM

I can't imagine how much $$$$ it took to do that, very impressive.

Posted by: 1970 Neun vierzehn Jun 5 2006, 12:45 PM

Itsa Lamporshotus.....yea, that's the ticket! Yea, my brother's wife's nephew's girlfriend's father had one. Drove it a couple years ago, yea that's it! First saw it in that car magazine, Road & Driver, err, Rodent Track, yea, that's the ticket.

Seriously though, with coachwork like that, the car needs Eye-tal-yun-looking wheels, not hot-rod rims. Pretty car though.

Posted by: dflesburg Jun 5 2006, 12:52 PM

doesnt look like the top comes off. that stinks. Other than that, its hellacool!~

Posted by: fiid Jun 5 2006, 12:54 PM

That's gorgeous - wow.

Posted by: Brad Roberts Jun 5 2006, 01:14 PM

I think it has a Lambo "flair" to it. I also believe it to be the first re-body of a 914 that I honestly like.

Not sure about the top. I'll try to get more details.

Seriously, that looks wicked cool.

Posted by: Rand Jun 5 2006, 02:14 PM

Open the hood and show us the flux capacitor.

Posted by: 1970 Neun vierzehn Jun 5 2006, 02:26 PM

Flux capacitor..................NLA, but I've seen 'em on eBay!

Posted by: Rand Jun 5 2006, 02:36 PM

I have to say, that car is WAY cooler than anything Delorean ever dreamed up. Amazing metal work.

Posted by: GTeener Jun 5 2006, 03:20 PM

I like the brushed steel look. And the view from the front looks sexy but the rest of it confused24.gif

Posted by: jd74914 Jun 5 2006, 03:22 PM

that is wicked cool smiley_notworthy.gif

whats in it?

Posted by: redshift Jun 5 2006, 03:36 PM

Posted by: anthony Jun 5 2006, 04:34 PM

That's pretty sweet. Air cooled or water cooled?

Posted by: Jeroen Jun 5 2006, 04:53 PM

looks like an awesome job!
I like how they kept the overall lines of the rear fender in tact
the chopped roof looks kinda like a Ferrari Mondial
the side intakes and the venturi-rear are very nicely done
is that all in aluminium?

Posted by: MecGen Jun 5 2006, 05:37 PM

Hey
Whats up with the dash, looks like a mod... driving.gif
Seroius workmanship here, we'll see it on Ebay for 100K alfred.gif

I've been following kit cars for more then 2 decades, this looks like one of the better ones. I just have a problem with mixing sour crout (sp) with spagetti. Remove the tail lites cover, and do something different. A slight curve on the rear widow pillar flares would remove the Enzo, and compliment the round curves on the front. IMHO

Where's Neo? pray.gif

Thanx for the pic!

all that sweet custom work and I bet someone will still ask if it's a fiat. check out the stock interior door handles biggrin.gif . is there any more info on this car somewhere on the net? P.S. bare metal rocks! happy11.gif

That did take it on a different tangent for sure. I was admiring the work. Looks good. Another angle... yeah, nice. Then the door panel BAM! I don't get it... The supercar look just doesn't go with the uber-redneck diamond plate that makes me think think the door panels weigh more than the front clip (not really, but you know...)

Posted by: URY914 Jun 7 2006, 07:00 AM

That's diamond plate is alumnium but still looks stupid. Would have looked better if it was just plain smooth aluminum.

WTF.gif
I agree about the interior - looks like leftover parts from RoboCop. Exterior, even with mix of styles is beautiful but the interior is a total mismatch. Besides, I'd never get my fat ass in the seat!

Posted by: Steve Thacker Jun 7 2006, 08:10 AM

OH BABY! I love it anyway it comes. wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif
The interior needs some serious work. I'm a sick bastard I know

If he's a 914 fan why did he build a lamboarri?

Posted by: MW 914 Jun 8 2006, 09:41 AM

I am trying to imagine that interior in Phoenix when it is 110 degrees outside. OUUUUCH!!! Sorta like a solar oven.

Posted by: morphenspectra Jun 8 2006, 10:48 AM

i like it! most body kits look like bunch of crap stuck on a car.this is almost a redesign, and one of the best ones i have ever seen.

Nice design, super nice metal work. The amount of effort that went into that car, I'm not picking any nits.

xcept the rear lights and the interior

supra rear lights would have been better

Posted by: JohnnyX Jun 11 2006, 04:01 AM

I was able to look at this car about a year ago. The guy that built it fixed my front end body damage. And, no, he didn't use any bondo! Beautiful metal work. The guy is a master at his art.

Posted by: porsche914gt Jul 22 2006, 11:26 AM

Anyone know who/where the shop is?
I'm looking for a guy that knows what he's doing with metal.
My rear flairs need a tweek.

Posted by: JPB Jul 22 2006, 03:01 PM

Hot and sexy lines. Its funny how some designs are just freely accepted and dazzels everyone right off the bat. I was wondering how much this thing weighs all steel of A36 probably? If it were made of composites, which would be a shoe in if someone got it for plugs for moulds, this neo914 could be a FG or CF winner!!!

beer.gif Club car design anyone?

Posted by: i love porsche Jul 22 2006, 05:06 PM

just thumbed through the new panorama, and there is a pic of this car in one of the articles...what a koinkeydink
