Now I thought we were all adults, living in the Greatest country in the world. We can go where ever we want, with in our borders, without papers. We can own a gun, vote, dress and act however we want. If we are not happy with a situation
we can leave.
Now I don't know about you but I enjoy seeing how creative you all are going to get with your Avatars. Sometimes I am surprised at what you come up with,
pleasently I should add.
With all the sh!t that is going on in our world, there is one place that I can come to
and enjoy myself with fellow Gearheads. Problems to solve, people to meet, storys
to read and do I really need to mention the pic's.
I was minding my own business, reading, when suddenly someone is Bitching about someone elses avatar( Mentioning no names). Now this Avatar Nazi wants
this other person to change his avatar because it Offends his Delicate Sensibilities.
What I would like to say is "GROW UP!" but that would be wrong. Instead I would
like your opinions so the PTB know and can forge policy in our behalf.
Thanks.

Someone is always going to be offended. If there were no more avatars, someone would be offended.

I sure you guys dislike my new avatar. It's pleasing to me and a couple of the other ladies on the board. However, I don't like posting that type of avatar. I'd much rather see a pic of my 914! I posted this one to give a break to the amount of similar pictures of women as avatars recently. dry.gif

But like I said, someone will be offended no matter what. That is why there is a "do not show avatars" feature. I belive there is now a feature to select not showing avatars by one member too.

So, what is the problem?

Posted by: elwood-914 Jun 25 2006, 03:24 PM

I've never had a problem with anyone's aviator. In fact I enjoy them because I think they reflect a persons personality, whether it be a humerous aviator or a car motivated one, it reflects the personality. That being said, I would not like to see pubic regions as an aviator, if I did I would pass over it...I wouldn't make a fuss though. Some of them are down right funny.
But yes I think we are all grown up enough to pass it over and look what we are really here for .........914's

Posted by: d914 Jun 25 2006, 03:32 PM

I agree with the stated opinions. I belive we have the capability to turn off viewing them, leave or get over it. I myself miss some of the old ones so you know where I fall, Dirty old man!!!! beer3.gif dead horse.gif

I think everyone needs to take a big breath and if the avatar of someone offends you don't look at it or don't leave them on your list...considering the social and political obscenities that are ongoing in the world at large...I'm sorry, I just don't see a "dirty picture" as a big deal.

I just want to know if my avatar shows up.
I think mine is sort of comical.
If I had a nice 914 to take pic's of I would
use them instead.
Oh I could take pic's of my wrecked 914
with a perfect battery tray.
Anyway If there are some that are
offenseive I have not seen them.
But I do not look at every post.

I have avatars turned off. Not that I really care, but I browse the non-club at work and home where my little kids can see. I don't think I am missing all that much. I guess I just don't understand what the controversy is all about. If you have tender sensibilities, turn off the avatars. It's really that simple. I know, becuase I have mine turned off and it doesn't impact my enjoyment of the site one bit.

It was me. Someone took offence to my monkey's ass. One of those, "anti simian anus" types.

He's got a condition. Leave him alone!

KMA.gif I hate sensitive folks. I think they should have been beat with a stick as a kid and then maybe they would not have been so sensitive. dead horse.gif Your sensitive little world where no one gets offended does not exsist other than in your head. If some one wants to put up a photo of jiggley boobs beerchug.gif have at it or the towel being moved whith out use of hands by the guy big deal. Get a life and figure out how to laugh with folks. beerchug.gif Thank god we dont have spelling cops or I would be shot cool_shades.gif

I like the avitars because that's how I "know" people. I'm visual so the avitar is more recognizable/memorable than the screen name.

I guess I could turn off my avitars and force myself to start learning screen names but then I wouldn't get the funny avitars and the occational titilating jubblies (hey, where's the smilie showing off it's boobies?).

This is a 914 forum not a porno site. I think people should be respectful of the deverse crowd who visit this forum and use G rated avatars. Having said that I havent seen an avatar on this site that offends my sensibilities so my version of G rated may be skewed! drunk.gif

...Oh and the world is a wonderful place - its just a matter of your own perspective. What does it say when you look to "creative" 914 board avatars as a sense of "relief" from the "world"?

....And youre dead horse.gif

Excuse me but where does it say that I look to "creative" avatars as a sense of

relief from the world? Maybe in that small mind of yours but not in anything I

wrote. Try reading it again.

I agree, and that should be the policy " Turn them off if you don't like 'em."

The Official policy...from the http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=45895

11) Avatars and posted pictures have to be PG-13. This incluces pictures attached to signatures.

And that is ALL that needs to be said on the topic of avatars.
