914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Bad news from Pelican

Posted by: Ctrout Jun 26 2006, 09:37 PM

Here is part of an email that I got today from Pelican

"Unfortunately, we recently discovered that one or more of the parts you
ordered are No Longer Available (NLA). These are:

111-953-519G Windshield Wiper Switch Assy, 924 (1976-80) NO LONGER
STOCKED"

I was planning on doing the electric wiper switch conversion but may have to scrap the idea I guess. Does anyone know where I can find the above mentioned part number?

This is where the drop ship company's fall short.

Contact:

Stoddard
ZIMS
Strasse
GPR

just to name a few.

These places actually carry stock. The top two have stuff sitting on shelves that you wouldnt beleive.

I bought one from GPR. It was from a 924 and he had new and used. I bought a new one but can't remember what it cost. Easy installation although it had to somewhat modified. It also has a connection for electric windshield washers.

Cheers, Elliot

VW part number, the switch in my car and my son's '73 bug look exactly the same.

Could say the same thing about a lot of 914s....
914. 924. Both big time NARPs. Both reviled by the pinky lifters, and loved by the folks that love them.

What is the benefit from this mod? Doesn't the late style 914 wiper switch have the capability to switch an electric pump if you break off a little plastic tab or something? I seem to remember sirandy did a how-to using a 911 pump and a stock switch.

Andy's tech article can be found under "914 info > tech articles"

He used an external pushbutton to activate it though...
