Hey Guys,
Anyone have an extra FI ecu for my 74 1.8L?
I know I should put this in the classifieds, but I have been looking for a few months now and I really need to drive my car!!!
The Bosch part # is = 0 280 000 111
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Dave Blackburn
Lets help him out. Somebody has to have a 1.8 brain sitting around somewhere.

I think I do... Let me check the part number
The PO had opened it up and resealed it with clear silicone... But it worked.
I have this one from my old 74 1.8...
Part number 0 280 000 103
Also has 022906021G on it (last digit may be a zero)
Thanks Guys.
It has been three months since my last ride!!
Doesn't help me get motivated to finish it much.
I have to tackle the fender flares now..... should be interesting.
Dave
If you think it will work, let me know. Free + shipping cost to Canada.
Thanks Karl.
I am going to try and find out if there really is a difference for the l-jet brains.
I heard there are two different kinds and that they aren't interchangable.
PP only lists one on there web site.
Regards, Dave
I have one out of my 74 1.8. I will check the number tonight and let you know.
Thanks rhaas,
Dave
How do you check to see if it is good if the condition is unknown ? I have several.
I have a couple those.
Let me know if need one.

To check Djet ECU's I just unplug my good one and plug in the one I am checking. Then drive around for a day. If all goes well, its good! I do have a Djet tester now also that alot of the functions.
Geoff
whatas the deal with the DJet tester? Where did you get it? What does it do.....
I just bought a d-jet tester (VW 1218) on ebay. I could have bought myself a decent digital camera for the same price ... at least the tester won't depreciate in value.
Craig,
If you have an extra one with matching numbers that would be great!!!!
E-mail me and we can work out the details.

Thanks,

I bought a Janbo unit with all the manuals. I sent copies to Brad Anders as he didn't have the manuals for the same unit. It has a Pee brain that runs the engine instead of the ECU and then you check all the sensors and functions. Pretty cool.
Geoff
FWIW My Bosch book says that there are two different 914 1.8L ECUs:
280 000 104 = CU65X = 1974 1.8L
280 000 111 = CU66X = 1975 1.8L
Also, there are actually 3 different 1.8L FI harnesses, and they are each wired differently. The ECU connector has different connections, and the AFMs are different => 1 has 6 wires and the other has 7.
Dave,
let us know how many "brains" you end up with.
I had NO idea this many people had 1.8 injection parts..LOL
I love the club

That's good news for the Seattle guys Geoff!!
Whenever you want to play with it...just let me know.
Thanks everyone,
I still have yet to find one with the matching numbers (280 000 111).... Craig?
I'll let you know what I end up with.
Thanks again,
Dave
