The only yellow teener in this picture is my Ugly Duckling. I think she makes a better bench. But her life is far better than when I bought her and I'm bringing her back to life...one day she'll be a looker
Aaron's GORGEOUS 1.8. Interior and exterior are to drool for!
Porsche Rescue's newly SOLD black-n-yellow is there. The new owner (Robby) gets to drive this nice sixer back down to Cali tomorrow.
Good comparison of painted/non-painted sails and tops. Man I love those polished rims, Aaron!

"Corded" car belongs to Bleysing (Geoff). I want to know too.
I'd be willing to bet he's probably tuning an MPS with his LM1 meter on the way down. Looks like that black cord goes to his O2 sensor.
He probably left it in there so he can play with it some more tomorrow...
Hey, I was tuning another MPS with my LM1 meter on the way down. That black cord goes to the O2 sensor.
Gonna play with it some more today.
Just like I will be doing today on BAD TUB....final MAP burn on Megasquirt under boost....

The crew is still on tour I guess....nice day for it.
I went to PIR ....brit showed up and we terrorized the locals at the AX.
Brit got an ovation from the spectators with a two black stripes to the first
apex cone and blitzing the first slalom . I was watching/listening and there was a lot of .."Gaaawwd daaamn....lookit that thang" going on.
A couple hours later I wasn't able to match his time, but close enuff to be a threat.
He's driving the shitbox these days.
I didn't get any pics....tomorrow I'll take a camera....maybe even a video thingy.

I wore my 2004 WCC Polo to a birthday party today!
It wouldn't be a true 914 event without jackstands This is a looker and has the paint my car should be if it weren't for a cheap-ass PO who painted the car with some very cheap, yellow paint.

Nice rims on a nice teener. The sun was very bright while it was setting so the off-hue of the wheel is due to the light reflecting off the very ORANGE car next to her, which you can see in the reflection in the paint
Attached thumbnail(s)
Last of my pictures. Another stitched, panoramic view of the hotel parking lot before heading off to dinner, silent auction, and raffle.
Great day, sunny and hot, met some new faces and put some faces to names. Y'all are a great group. Except when giving directions, that needs some work
Attached thumbnail(s)
We counted about 47 teeners in the parking lot but not all of them came on the rally/cruise. My odometer read roughly 206 miles, mentally subracting the drive to and from the hotel from my house across the river. Filled up at home and got just under a 1/4 tank of gas according to the highly accurate ( ) gas gauge when the day was over.
Note to next year planners, break the groups up into 6-10 cars so they can travel together. It's more fun -- and impressive -- if the cars are grouped together and not strung out with lead foots "leading" the way. Or something along those lines. Was I able to keep up? Not a problem. But others weren't and/or they didn't want to travel 20mph+ over the speed limit like two of our followers got pulled over for (no tickets issued thank goodness).
Just beautiful.
I'm very envious.
Im bummed, my 914 with the wind surfer on the rack would of been right at home in Hood River.
I'm terrible with names so please forgive me. There were teeners taking lots of pictures so y'all will see more when people get home but one teener took a picture of everyone as we were leaving the mountain. You saw the two above (Bruce Allert) and here's mine:
Thanks to the person who did this and please take credit when you get the chance

Got back home about 2:15 am from our day run. What a blast! For the first time ever ( that I know of) the tour actually took off on time!
Jeff, Dan and I left Jeffs house about 6:15 on saturday morning. We arrived about 9:20 am at the hotel and the tour had already left! It was all good though.
We got to meet up with the people that remained behind to work on cars. About 1 pm, we headed backwards on the tour to catch up with everybody. We stopped for gas and saw the Orange six being towed. Dan opted to stay and help on that one while the rest of us made a run up the river. We caught up with everybody on their river stop.
Lots of 914's. I took pictures as we headed to the next stop.
It was great to see Ferg, Gint and Sharon again!
I will get the pics from my phone this afternoon and post them.
BTW. Filled up in Portland and drove home. I will get the gas and milage figures out later this afternoon.
Hey.. Iwould love too be there.I miss the snow.......
Look's like you guy's are having a good time............
Good to hear from you Kevin! are you going to RRC? I am debating it now. I owe you
The pictures are great guys. Sure was a lot of fun. Just got home about 5 and the car performed flawlessly. We only broke down once on the way up to Mt. Hood but were in good company and things worked out and the car started and had no issues since. Today's event at PIR was just awesome. We had both the historic races and the auto x going at the same time. It was my first time at the track or around anything like that and I was really in awe. So much cool stuff at once. I really enjoyed watching the bahia red 3.2 6 autox, he would lite the tires off going a little sideways at first and then catch traction. Once it caught that guy was so dam fast, really trick car, one of my fav's. So many good cars and so much all at once. It's a great experience.
Hey toby who got pulled over?
eric
we need this with a unhappy face.
Eric, red 3.2 is Gary Chapman (DRGChapman on the board). Very good driver and very fast car.
Jim - Yeah that car was awesome. It was so straight and he really knew how to toss it around. To bad I didn't get a chance to complement him on it.
Glad no 914's got pulled over.
Eric

too many fireworks , i hear, great stereo though
The 914Club had the largest turnout of all the clubs at the Historic Races. We made the taildraggers look small The Miatas look baren the Ferrari's, Mini Coopers and everything else just had small groups.
Our area was huge. Made us looke like we were the (are) Kings!!!
Such a turn out. Thank you all for coming, Thank you Camp Councilor Craig for the opportunity to have a great get-together.

Yeah, it was totally awesome when the cars went on the parade lap and the stupid PA guy with the British accent talked all about how bad 914's suffer from rust
Can someone from the Portland area take him out back and whack him in the knees with a crowbar??
It was a Parade lap to show off the Collector Cars to the crowd and this guy BADMOUTHS our cars...effin idiot....
like 356's don't rust or a 50's MG! hell no, those are real collector cars...jerk.
We just got home....8 hrs driving home.....
we had a fantastic time!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who won the 914 give away?
My last day WCC pictures are in the autocross thread by JP:
http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=55843
Aaron, owner of the beautiful 1.8L orange car (polished rims) with the ejected spark plug won the raffle car.
My son and I stayed for about 9 hours on Saturday. I have some pictures I will post up a little later. We both wish we could have stayed for the entire event. Poor planing on my part earlier in the year prevented that. But I am glad we made it down. With drive time, it was a 5AM to 10PM day for us. All in a 914-6! Sweet!
Boy that was fun. As always, the best part was meeting people. I'd try to sneek off to the room and run into someone else to talk to and never quite make it in. It made for a couple of late nights. I can't wait for next year. So, the big question. Where are we off to next year. WCC 07.
Dave
viva......
NoCal's turn.
I vote for a wine country drive thru the grapes, with twistys and a winery lunch etc.
I am amazed at how much people's families are now involved so I suggest some activities that are "family" activities. The MtHood drive was a great activity for the group as everyone had fun.
A AX or track time would be great with the show and shine as everyone loves standing around till 2PM BSing about each others cars with stories about how much FI sucks etc.....
I think people should toss out idea's. Maybe a new "nailed thread" for this?
santa barbara
viva!
Glad everyone had fun. It sucked sitting around this weekend knowing the event was going on.
The pics are awesome
B
I suggest buttonwillow or thunder hill, or maybe even infineon raceway. track time!
Early in the year Bruce. Basically less than 10 months to plan it.
Las Vegas 07
B
Las Vegas sounds good but its Bay Area's turn cuz if ya look at a map Vegas is down there by LA. Got to spread it around dudes but Vegas sounds fun cuz we can all go broke there in the casino's and drink ourselves to death where John works. (Free Drinks!!!)
If your're going to plan Vegas.....please late in year (Nov, Dec) or early in year (Jan - April).
And if in NorCal....this time have the NorCal Contingent party with the rest of the peeps instead of trekking off to their private thingy.
There was quite a bit of early interest when I was at the 914 International, for organising some kind of group attendance at WCC07 for the British contingent and some others. That was assuming a NorCal venue since being able to shop at HPH, EASY, PH etc. with a group shipment was a big motivator.
It would take some organising (which I would volunteer for), but it would be nice to encourage such an exchange I think
Richard
Looks like you had a good time, some beautiful country. Even if it was in the middle
of.... No I am not going to say it, I bet you thought I was, but I am not. Glad you all
had a good time, Great event you guys, nice job.
SLITS,
This time we just partied in the parking lot as it was soo big that we were away from the Hotel. JoeS had the partybus set up and the tow vehicle of Joe OBrien filled with kegs of cold beer, we partied as a group. I suppose a few partied in their rooms but the gang out in the lot was a lot of fun.
I think everyone would vote Dino as the guy with the funniest stories!!!
We just needed a place to cook!
yes, it was in the middle of nowhere!!! who picked the hotel? BradR cuz there only was a Chevy's up the street to eat at.
Can we at least recover from 06 before we talk about 07???
Pics coming.....

Where is Mohab?? I looked at the RRC thread but no map.
Moab, UT - Central/Eastern Utah!
Damn, Utah is a day and a half drive for me. You know 36 hours STRAIGHT.
Better start thinking of FCC for me.
Let's see Gig Harbor to Viva 19 hrs and 1300 miles. I better start looking for a good doughnut to sit on.
Dave
Yea I guess you are right, put the Recaro back in and hold the pedal down.
probably be faster if there cones set up down the middle of the lane. My car loves dodging cones.
hmmm 11 hrs to RRC 900 miles
4 hrs to vegas....
Thank You! Great pictures for us unfortunates! I like the picture with Joe and his harem. The proverbial thorn amongst roses. Ha..Ha.. Can you guys post a picture of the WCC2006 Lic Plate? I am very happy to have been a sponsor. Joe be sure to grab one for me as well. It will look great on 555.
Thanks,
Dan
AA, talked to Slits. He said he'd have the six done by then and would drive it there. I called and told him if he drives a 914 to Moab I will too. It's only 750 miles
Don't figure there's much of a chance, but just in case, ya gonna let the old guys show you up?
Remember the Cannon Ball Run, coast to coast race, New york City to San Francisco, sponsored unofficially by Car & Driver magazine? Well, maybe not, that was quite a few years ago. One year it was won by Dan Gurney and Brock Yates with a time of something like 39 hours (3,000 mi/39 hrs = 77 mph average). Of course they were driving a Ferrari Daytona coupe, but a tricked out 914 is probably just as fast.
Great photos everyone. Looks like a wonderful time was had by all.
Its only a 18hr drive to Moab for me if I go with Blair. Two days if I go with Monique.....
We'll see if I go as the car is running great other than the shifting problem. My hp/torque is at 3500 to 5000 rpms so I like to stay at 70-85mph. That was the problem following Bruce Albert back from the Brewery as he was going too slow. I was barely turning 3000rpms and the oil temps were climbing so I passed him and then everyone turned off for a drive on the Historic Highway. Glad I missed that as I got back in time for a swim in the hotel pool...
so many 914s...sensory overload!
where are the wild drunken pics???
Nice!!! Great shots and turnout.... must of been a blast.
what, no pictures of the late night highbeam adjustments?
Aaron,
the rumor around these parts is that slits will be uncovering the magic carpet ride soon and you'll be left out in the cold if you don't hurry up and get ready!

I just made it home, stayed an extra day in Portland. The temps dropped form 90s to low 70 bhhhhrrrrrrrrrrrr!
That was just one hell of a party! Yoga, Hi beams, Turtle girl ales, Joe shaking it up, Mike constant quoting of Blazing Saddles (how can one man make a two hour movie last THREE DAYS?)
Some really sweet cars! DH Hunt fixing sumbuddy (al's) car in the lot! CIGARS!!(More thanks to Liz!!)
Great weather, and great people! I have some pix to post later... I need a nap and some after sunburn lotion!
Thanks to the CCman! He really did a great (thankless) job out in the middle of no where!
PS, Kids, remember never try to tip a Beefalo near a Peat Bog!
We're in Moab......
Made it back to Pasadena by 3pm. had a really great time. After 2477 miles found a rear control arm bushing giving way. But we are home and spent the last hour in the pool. Crossing central Calif. today at 104 dg. Was a challenge? But enjoy a few pics.

While everyone was basking int he glow at Timberline and down the back side to Hood River and The Vista House. I received a call from Aaron Gilihan that he was way back in Sandy at Shortys Corner with spark that did not want to stay in the head.
So I put his car ont he tow dolly, and headed bact to I84 to take him home so he could get his wfies BMW convertible to continue on the tour.
Instead we ran inot the MASH unit from up north, Dan Root, Troy Messix, and Geoff Hines, and a few others who shot out of the gas station and headed east on I84 to hookup with the rest of the group.
Pics show Dan and Troy tolling away on the plug hole, but to no avail. The car now rests at CAMP 914, waiting for the surgeon to return.

So, we (Joe O and Liz) are now in beautiful Moab, UT...home of the upcoming RCC (hint, hint). I really had a great time on the trip! There were so many beautiful cars and wonderful people. I know that there is an official thanks thread, but I am doing mine here because there are actually some pics to correlate. I would like to send out some special props to Eric and Vanessa Shea for the 914 safe house and hospitality on the way out, Dino for the private yoga lesson in the parking lot, Mike Wills for being one of three of us who hung in there for the long haul on Friday night, Liz and Bruce for cleaning up the parking lot after you slobbish bastards, McMark for teaching me the true shape of our hotel, and Joe Sharp, well for just being yourself, as always!
As far as the party pics go, our friend Alison (aka Anniston) took a bunch, but she can not find her camera, so if anyone came across one please let us know.
So, those of you who did not make it...where the hell were you Toast, Leo (obviously with reason...congrats!!!), Travis Neff........?
Hope to see you all back here in Moab soon!
And for Gwen,
After watching the auto cross on Sunday, we think that you should make up a new hat (no seriously). Maybe use some "Got Cones" like artwork with a car on two wheels, with the cones in the image, that says, "Got Swaybars?"
Luck
I have about a 2 minute video clip from this weekend. It only has video up to the top of Mt. Hood because we got a flat and I peeled off at Hood River to get a new tire (which took 2 hours and, by the way, is the very tire featured at the bottom of page 10 of this thread). I also shot the first of the track, but ran out of battery... oops.

I'll write a lot more in the official thank you thread.

See you soon.

Good to see you all, drive and knock down a few.

Geoff, your paint does look good for being done out in the elements.
Bottom line...What great tast we have in cars!!!
The lucky kids got to drive the car all weekend. I got the trip down and back and 5 AX passes. But, I got happy kids. Meet teen914

Elements! Heck I did it on the gravel parking space so I am real happy it turned out at all. Got to color sand and buff it out this week.
Today I fixed the blown out universal shift bushing. Man that was easy to do for once. It made for a heck of a "lets not stop at all" drive home. 2nd gear starts up a hill or two ate up alot of me new clutch.
I'm tired as hell right now, and dont feel like resizing 98 pictures right now..so I'll get mine up tomorrow. Once again, Thanks everyone. I had a great time.

So, Liz, Joe, and myself all made it home safely this evening. We made better time home (a short 23 hour drive ). After throwing some burgers on the grill for dinner, Liz headed home, with her son in tow, seeking some well deserved rest and solitude! But, before she left we got a chance to talk about the next WCC (only a few hours home and already excited about next year!).
Mike W's car made it home safely in my hands, and I must say Mike, driving your teener home was great fun! Makes me think that I am selling the GTI soon for a 914 daily driver!
Next, RRC '06!!!

Nice pix, Dave

Hey all - it was soo cool to watch the club go around the track. I'm pretty sure there were more 914's than any other car club there. Maybe next year I'll actually be able to bring my car and be part of the ..um... festivities!
I thought I had a video of all the cars going down the front straight it to post - but turns out i have no video at all from the weekend, a hell, it was that kind of weekend
These are not mine, but they are tweeked slightly. enjoy

We just home.
One week.
943 miles on the minivan.
185 pictures.
More money spent than I want to know.
But a GREAT time was had by all.
I'll post the pics and our stories later.
Now I gotta sleep.

For many of us who drove many, many miles to get to Oregon, the sun was getting to us by the end of the event. I know that I was looking for shade everywhere we went. Joe and Liz, two people with very fair skin, actually came back with tans despite the SPF 50 sunscreen they were constantly applying!

I came back and Monique said "Wow, you sure got dark!" I was getting cooked on Sunday at PIR as the one small item I didn't bring was sunscreen but I didn't get too bad a sunburn.
We were fighting for shade spots under the canopy!!!
All my pics are on my website at:

Go nuts - there's 130 or so, and the high res originals are also available for download (keep clicking and you'll get the original - right click and save as).
There is some dirt on my lens though - so there's a blob inthe same place on every pic - DOH!
Yep, pretty darn hot especially for us in the gray NW. Also, black vinyl, the back of my legs are burning thinking about it.

Nice pics everyone...it was great but we just got back this evening....Looonnng trip thru Washington and Oregon and back down the coast to home....had 2 days of rain in Washington and Oregon and blistering heat when back in Ca. I'll post the few pics my POS camera deigned to produce for me. I'm already jonesing for that great beer and tequila. Actually, I just had a sip of the Scotch my sweetie brought me back from Scotland...it's the same year as my car (1973) didn't cost quite as much but it's a hellova lot smoother....mmmmmmm. 10-4. over and out, Jim
yep, when the chips were down, the engine puked a spark plug. we were bummed to say the least, missed the entire mt. hood experience. but since that car sat undriven for 20 years, it was probably just a matter of time anyway.
mucho thanks to craig for his generous assistance, and to dan and troy for wrenching on my car in the heat of the day. when we get back from victoria, i'll assess the damage and find a new 1.8 head. and i need to figure out what to do with the olympic blue 914 that we won at the raffle.
it was great to meet everyone!
