BUMP!
Heres another one that will be there. Trailered halfway maybe..
Another and a story:
Do your GM cars have their shots? I wouldnt want my purebred to catch something nasty. ....Like a case of creeping primer or fender flarieitis.
I'll have to clear my Sat.
That is around the corner from my house...can I bring the 1.7?

The local 2-day autoX school is that day, so anyone who is a student or an instructor there won't be able to make it. Not sure how much cross-over there is from that population to the swap-happy population, though.
--DD
It's unlikely I'm going to be able to make this one - sorry... I've used my quota of events up with the WCC - gotta look after the kid some
Fiid.
Felix.. you know the likelyhood of that... lol
I think 10 cars max, probably 5 or 6.. but a lot of guys without rides (just a hunch)
andrew
Oh, and Chris...
The wing is almost big enough for the flares!
Looks good!!! Worth the trouble and the story IMHO (but I didnt go through it! )
Andrew
Wow, thats a shame he wont be there, The craftmanship looks amazing! Hope he gets better!
Felix... If my dad cant come (he's in the hospital now... small blood poisioning.. he stepped on ceramic glass) then I'll be with a friend.. I've got to ask my uncle if he'll let me borrow his tow. My engine doesnt like me, and im sure my cv's are getting bad again... (just blowing them till the 915 goes in... then I'll fab some adapters for the bus axles) So I dont wana chance it.
But... I'll be there!
Fiid, Sorry you cant come... Love to get a ride in your car, and vice versa!
Andrew
Damn can't make this one. I'm taking the msf course that weekend.
Not this time for me either.
Car is still on jackstands, but more importantly I'll be at Laguna Seca for the MotoGP races!
It's going to be fun!
Im definately coming... with a friend.
Problem is.. its going to be 108+....
Thats a LOT of heat for a primer black 914 with little interior...
I might drive a 944...
But im coming...
Andrew
I GOT MY AC WORKING..
now... lets get the car goin.
ANdrew
my 914 is out. Things were looking up Wed when I fired it up for the first time but I had to finish wiring the fuel pump in the cabin, replace the shifter coupling bushings, rewire the starter, and a myriad of other things. My fuel regulator won't meter lower than 10 PSI and I read it should be 4-5.
If it were only tuning the engine or adjusting the shifter I would have limped it or Jon would have towed it to the BBQ but I found a fuel leak under the tank right at the hose in the tunnel. I'm not even sure how to get to it but I need to dry or evacuate the fuel. I worked on it as long as I could with the strong fumes.
To top it off one of my Benz's window decided not to raise so I spent an hour removing the motor. Oh well, old or modified cars have their quirks. Dam I was really close to running and the engine sounded great!
Felix... Just bring a random box of stuff your planning to use for the Neo....
lol
That will get us Oooing and Ahhing for hours.....
Andrew
Heading out.. Be there at 1145ish... I couldnt find my pass side seat belt cam lock... grr
Andrew
I'm out. I have too much work to do. Sorry guys, I really hate to miss it.

Very nice to meet all of you and thanks again Mike!
Looks like a great time. Sorry I couldn't make it. (really sorry)
And thanks to Mike P and all who helped Andrew get back on the road. He made it as far as Pleasanton and unfortunatly had a big time overheat. He parked it and called for a tow truck. Apparently there are a bunch of people in the same boat as the truck was delayed 2 hours. Anyway it's been a learning experience for him. We all have to go thru something like this at one time or another. Ask me sometime about changing a rear end in a 64 Dodge truck on a mountain back road to Cherry Lake at 2 in the morning.
High props to MikeP and his wonderful fiance for hosting this event. The AC was really appreciated in this weather and the view at his Almaden home is breathtaking. The area lended itself well to the roar of the V8's which prompted one of Mike's neighbors to stop by with his largely unmuffled quad runner. They apparently are used to Mike "excursions".

I forgot to thank you, Felix. If it wasn't for you, alot of us would still feel like outsiders. Thanks for embracing and leading the beauty of the 914 and its endless powerplant opportunities. I am never bored of seeing yet another conversion, as they are never alike.

Chris' suicide hinge, look at all the drivetrain access...

MikeP's 914 V8, future plans include supercharging and of course body/paint work.
His Elise may also get some added power too...
It's coincedence that he use to see Jeff do fiberglass work on his car while living in Belmont.

Well, he just made it home.
I'll let him fill in the gory details.
Thanks Again,
Dan
Mike P went for a ride in Harry's and My car.. He wanted the snap that our cars have. Even though his car has 470hp, it felt as fast as mine does because it doesnt kick in till 4k, and it has no "snap" that normal v8's do.. I atribute it to an incorrect power valve in the carb. I dont think he's going supercharger now, and I think he is going to get his power valve correct, and maybe FI... maybe some other stuff..
Ahh... I Overheated.
On the way there, I saw 210 consistant, then I hit the hill... went up to 220. This was bad, brought the temp down to 210 after the hill, but I must have cooked my oil or something (maybe 110 heat has something to do with it) because the temp slowly rose to 230. At this point, I said enough is enough I need to pull over... Pulled over, and the large hose piece on the intake manifold has a tiny leak, and its boiling water out. I figure this is the problem, so I tighten it, released the pressure from the radiator cap, and water boiled out for about 2 mins. filled it, and ran the engine to get the air out. BUT instead of it sucking in the water, it just threw it all out!! It was as if the system was holding way more water than it needed.. so did that... bla bla bla... left.. Temp went to 210, then 220, and slowly to 230 and pretty much stayed there through the traffic lights and such. It was deadly hot inside as well... My ac fan wouldnt blow hard enough.. so that didnt work. I was dehydrating.. even though I was drinking water...
Got to mikes, ate, BS'ed bout 4 I decided to try and fix it, mike suggests changing oil, (Thanks Mike!!) So we did. Oil was cooked. Very dark brown. Almost black on my finger.
Went to ace for some form a gasket.. Unfortunately we got the non hardening one.. Well.. that really didnt work, but we did it anyways, and well..
On the way back, my temps just climed, and stayed at 230. Engine stumbling all the way, put a little load on it, and it just bogged and jerked and made bad noises.. I decide, no... We'll tow it.. So we went to the dublin imax parking lot.. BAD IDEA. It... Was... FULL!!! When I hit the first stoplight I forgot to switch on my fan so my temp went to 240..(thats my Oh Sht point...) Looked for a parking spot for 4 mins... at 240... Oh.. just what I freekin wanted....
Called for a tow, took 30 mins to get through. Its about 730-8. truck came around 1010. I got home at 1210 because we picked up another car (cool tow truck.......)
Needless to say.. IM pissed at my car... I cant get the air out the radiator... My setup isnt ideal, It never went over 205 before.... So..
I think im going to go with a rennegade setup.
I got pics... Tomorrow i'll post em.
Thanks Mike and all!!!
Hey Mike thanks for the great event (and great food) and thank you Felix for setting it up. Looks like I missed some good stuff when I had to leave early for baby sitting duty. I look forward to the next get together.
BTW my trucks air temp gauge said it was 115 in Mikes driveway and 110 going down 85. The gauge is accurate up to at least 105.
Steve
Im sorry I didnt get to talk to everyone.. My brain wasnt working with the heat.. Excuse my rudeness to those I didnt know...
Heres my pics.
