914World.com _ 914World Garage _ How is the fuel pump attached?

Posted by: scrz914 Jul 29 2006, 10:27 PM

I was putting in a new fuel filter on my recently purchased 914 and noticed a zip tie dangling. Yep, someone zip tied the fuel pump to the brake line. Not secured with bolts. Although I don't think the pump would go far if the ziptie broke, it doesn't inspire me with a lot of confidence. Unfortunatly, I can't see how this pump is supposed to be mounted. I do see two rubber pads that I assume dampen vibrations, but I don't see any bolts holes (I did see a rust hole though, Great).
Does anyone remember how this mount? Is there a bracket missing?
Thanks for your help.

Those rubber isolators are supposed to have studs on both sides. Look down into the hell hole and you will find two studs with 10mm nuts on them holding the remains of your fuel pump mount. Easy to replace, not real easy to re-hang the fuel pump. Porsche stocks them. They used them on 911's to hold air cleaners and the such.
