And for those of you on the Gulf Coast... come on up.... Driving a 30+ year old sports car that far is nothing. In the Vintage Chevrolet Club we have a couple who is in their 80s and they drive their 1931 Chevrolet coupe to every event. They live in Ohio, and have Driven their car to events in Seattle, LA, Denver, Miami, Phoenix... etc.
So don't be a wimp and say it's too far to drive. If a couple of 80 year olds can do it in a 75 year old car, then you can do a lot shorter distance in a 914......
Great event Clay! Anne and I were really looking forward to our second event in a row. Unfortunately, the weekend selected is the only weekend that I have a conflict in October. I have a work engagement in Dallas, TX. (Also my Birthday weekend!)
I am a scheduled speaker at this event for work or I would bail in a heartbeat. You never know.....maybe everyone else has a conflict as well and the winds of change will blow???
Thank you for planning the event. I know that it takes quite a commitment and can be a big hassle, but it is appreciated.
Ok.. Here's the reservation information.
Call Central Reservations # :1-800-465-4329
Tell them you want to reserve rooms at The Holiday Inn, City Center.
700 Rogers Avenue, Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.
Give them the registration code 2-PCA.
And let's keep a count here of everyone who is signed up to go.
Unless I'm missing something, this is pretty bare so far for people signing up?
Funds permitting I should be in. What will, if any, be the regestration fee? We should be done with all the conversions I'll be a part of for me to take vacation and make it.
I'll have a better idea here soon.
I am good to go. I "think" Mike Brown is coming as well.
I will by happy to volunteer for your "starter" job.
can't wait!!!!
Hi Clay,
We're planning on making it. I think there are about six other I've taked to in the last week that plan to come as well.
The Fisher - 914-V8 (The Beast)
The Floyd - 914-6 3.2L and possibly Julie in his 2.0L
Don Dounecq - 914-4 2.0L
Jim Meyer - 914-6 2.4L
The Carters - 914-6 2.4L
Mike Wilson - 914-6 3.2L
I'll try to get some of the door prizes going again this year. Hopefully we can find some goodies out there.
Rich
WOW - Finally a FIRST class event where I can show off my NEW 914. Just completed my first ever, but still very bad ass, flared sixer, custom built with the help of Rich Johnson and Wes Hildreth. Ladies and Gents alike need to be showin up for this event so that I can kick some but in my new yellow baby.
Mike in Maumelle Arkansas
Oh Yeah - I Forgot to add that I don't know jack crap about 914's and I am looking to learn a ton of new stuff from all of you EXPERTS !
Update.. Betty and I spent the weekend driving around Arkansas. 1500 miles of scouting tours.
We found one hell of a driving road. No traffic, lots of twisties, and one section that is down the side of a mountain with 10mph banked switchbacks.
Too bad right in the middle of the tour route there was 1500 feet of gravel road
Final Schedule, costs and signup info should be available at the end of this week.
Sorry for the delay in replying. I have a big deployment going on here at work, and the MUSR stuff is really keeping me jumping.
I just (whle I was writing this) got a call from the hotel about the setup. Tomorrow I am going to talk to the T-shirt vendor on costs. As soon as I have that, I can start taking registrations.
It looks like it will cost what it did last year, 50.00. But that is NOT an exact number.
As for help, I need a volunteer to run the car show. And Joseph, I need to know if you can bring a stepladder for the group picture.....
More tomorrow evening.
The one tour starts out with the group picture. If someone wants to go back to the hotel to return the ladder, then it would work.
BTW.. We need a stepladder. There is a bathroom at the photo site that we can put a ladder on top of to elevate the photographer.
The T-shirts are arranged, the fees figured out, the trophys are in production, and we have one person to do a tech session (Wes Hildreth).
Things are coming together.
Now I have to get the registration site setup so you can pay via pay pal.
I will have a form up you can print and mail a check to me if you don't want to do that.
And I get to talk to Charlie after the AX tomorrow......
Ok.. Update....
I have all the numbers done. I got the signup webpage about half done last night. Not being an expert in Front Page, I am struggling my way through it. If anyone knows front page in detail and would like to help out, I will send you a free MUSR 8 t-shirt.
Ok, The online registration is cool, but I just don't have time to finish it. There are only 2 of us, and neither of us know HTML very well, and we both have full time jobs.
So I give up.
To Register for MUSR 8:
Save the http://www.perrinefamily.org/musr8/registration.htm to your computer.
Edit it with the requested information and e-mail it to me, or print it out and send it to me.
The sooner you register the better.
You can call the http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hotel/fsmdt?rpb=hotel&crUrl=/h/d/hi/1/en/hotelsearchresults
in Fort Smith to reserve a room. Just call the Central Reservations # :1-800-465-4329 and use that code 2-PCA.
Also, can you post to this thread that you have registered. Then I can keep count of the registrations.
Thanks!
I have updated the first post with the actual final schedule and all the contact information for the hotel.
Now for your convenience we have online registration....

I will buy you a at MUSR.

"Your check is in the mail"
Holiday Inn is now full . They said I could have a room at the regular rate of $99.00 . Days Inn sounds better @ $39.00 anyway. I think motel rooms all look alike when the lights are out.
I just booked a room at the Holiday Inn. Did it online and got a rate of 69.00.
Clay,
I registered today. Don't forget you promised us all the free beer we can drink!!
Mike
There are still rooms available at the Holiday Inn. You can get one for 69.00 that is non-refundable (not part of our block of rooms), or you can pay the normal 99.00 rate for one you can cancel.
I took the one behind door number three... 39.00 room at Days Inn.
Now where did I put that registration form?
Hey Joseph,
Glad to see your still going to hang around with us mid enginerererers.
Can I assume your going to be driving the new tail dragger? Can't wait to see her in person.
later
Well, here it is 2am, and I just finished getting the car back together for the trip!
I think we are planning on heading out thrus morning, so we should get there late thurs evening...when will the dallas crowd be heading out, maybe we could meet up with someone?
Clay, thanks for being the ring leader and getting this thing put together! Looking forward to seeing you all soon.
Tony
OH, could someone send me the info for that days in...39 bucks sounds just about right!!!
Hey Tony, glad your going to make it. Hotel info is on the first post of this thread. See ya on Thursday.
Curt
Tony,
The Dallas Caravan is leaving on Thursday morning. We are meeting in McKinney at 10 am. Jeff is coming to stay at my house on Wed. We will head out to McKinney around 7:30 (this is DFW rush hour). If you want to meet us here, let me know.
Oh.. and I need a registration form from you...
Everyone,
Here's the idea for the caravan... Anyone coming from Fort Worth can meet at my house at 7:30... (Let me know so I can expect you). We can go thorugh Irving and meet up with Travis and Robyn (AKA Lady Waterpumper), then head off to McKinney to meet up with the rest of you.
The times a flexible.
Sound like a plan???
Geeze.... he gets a taildragger and he thinks he is soo much above us that he can send in his entry form the Sunday before the event starts....
See.. you shouldn't have sold Sparky... owning a nine-leben has made you all uppity and stuff......
Seriously, glad you can come. Are you going to meet us in Talamena to caravan up with the rest of the group??
Talimena...
Okay now I'm "thinking" about it.
Ya'll will probably hit Talimena around noon?
Sound about right?
..
Attached image(s)
Okay Clay,
I've decided to wimp out.
I'm going to trailer the 914.
So anything you need to haul I can put in the truck.
Talimena on Thurs? what time will you get there? I have a staff meeting at 0700. It will be over by 0900 and I'll be outa here. Where to meet and when? Might as well break in the new "passenger" on the first day!!!
Oh.. and I hope all of you are around for Sunday afternoon services a Our Lady of Talamena (With apologies to Howard).
As far as the McKinney meet up, I suggest the IHOP at Hwy 75 and Hwy 380. Northeast corner - perfect launch location.
Sounds like we will plan on leaving McKinney around 10am. I will plan to be there around 9:30am.
later.....
Hate to miss a fun drive, but I won't be able to do the Talimena leg with you guys.
Gotta do some smoozin' at a "bidness funkshun" thursday eve, so we'll be rollin' in late. But I might check in at "the lounge" to see what's up.
..
The excitement is building.
Getting the Porsche support vehicle ready.
Change the oil, check the tires, wash and shine.
The 914 showing a little leg. Take her off the trailer tomorrow, change the oil and wash and wax.
The 911 upset she can't go.
Robyn would be pissed if I didn't include a picture of the waterpumper.
And contrary to popular belief, there are trees in Texas
sorry I missed where this starts from and where it ends, I am in San Diego CA
