I found out today that the rocker arm studs on my "new" engine are broken. The PO put it in shortly before he sold it to me. Is this something I can do myself? The price that wa quoted to me for fixing it is going to put the teener in the garage for a while! !!

finding the replacement studs can be a prob....

torque spec for them is reaaallly low.....

stripped? if you can get it out, you can put a new one in....

Is it the stud or the head that stripped? If the head drill, tap and put in a helicoil (I

probably spelt that wrong) if the stud check with Jake Raby.

If it's just that the threads are stripped, easy fix, if the stud broke flush with the head, it's more complicated. If you have a steady hand it is possible to weld a bolt to what is left of the stud and simply unscrew it. On my 912E the stud broke dead even with the head and it came out clean. Either way, pretty common and shouldn't require the head to be pulled.
