Since I mounted the Hellas and will be puting another switch (THAT GRASSHOPPER IS SENDING... ) in the location left of the wheel, that only left one place for the fuel gauge...
This is one of Dave's radio plates with a 2" tail pipe piece ($2.00 at your FLAPS) stretched. Bring your 2 1/16th gauge with you and they can stretch it on the spot.
Hacksaw in the vise at a "guesstimated" angle (probably why they call it a "hack" saw). Weld to the plate. Use the weld marks on the back to do a rough cut out and grind away the rest. I used a cut-off wheel to gingerly remove the welds on the front as there were some tight places to get into. The cut-off wheel can be your friend but you must be delicate and know where it's going and how it works.
I think I'll get with Morph and get enough dash material to cover everything and away we go...

where did you get the gauge?
Looks cool eric! not sure i woulda angled it... but nice work!
didnt the 916 and GT cars just mount it in the dash flat?

BTW mr copycat....
on the fog light switch. i may have an extra...
my pilots use the green (early) insert, and the Hellas use the amber (insert) to differentiate between the two LOL
Here's a picture of the LeMans winner... (thanks Armando)

if i have it, ill bring it wif yo ski rack to Moab.....
Damn it I like that . been thinking of this for a while. Great idea but I think I need to make a fiberglass one. I have 3 gauges in this spot now. Radio???? Hell no couldn't hear it anyway.
Eric, great fabrication job, as usual.
Here's a VDO item for the 2 1/16" gauge that will fit in the radio area. Their two gang unit replaces the panel perfectly, but appears to be NLA new.
Thanks,

Eric, et al
What is the source of this single gauge plate (who is Dave)? Is this from Rennmetal? I see they only offer a triple gauge plate.
They have silver dot 2 1/16" gauges?! Great. now I need some to take apart. LOL
Yes, Rennmetal.
Blank Plate.
Looks just like the VDO gas gauge I had in the thunder bus. What's the 800 bucks all about?
The Cap'n
Eric can't remember that far back, sheesh.
And by the way, I would prefer the tank to be 4/4 full instead of just 1/1. Cuz four is bigger. Right?
Jeeze guys, Eric turned 50 this year. You're asking him questions about a 5 year old thread. That's a lot of remembering for the fella.
At least they're just testing his memory. Think of all the other things that Eric can't do now that he's 50! Poor lad.
I'll probably get banned by the moderators, but here goes....
There have been enough requests for a single gauge plate, that I went ahead and made a short run of 50. The plate is flat, so if you want the angled look you are on your own.

As if he was honest when he entered his birth year. Thank goodness for Botox eh Shea?
Koooo luuu kuuu kuuu koo luuu kuuu kuuu...
Aye der you hozers need ta get back to da sandbox aye?
Jeez, first you invite us to a party and now you're shooing us away? There aren't any pics of you posted on this website are there Mr. Shea?
Nevermind. And don't look in your sandbox thread.
I thought it was always followed by a question mark. As in, "that Canadian Club tastes like shit". "EH"??
Drinking C&C is a mistake. There are hundreds of much better Rye Whiskeys available. So in your example the question mark is appropriate; and I agree.
