914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Can I remove the engine tin....

How much is possible with the engine still in the car? (1975, 1.8).
I’m about ready to give up. I’ve gotta try something. She always runs hot. I think I vapor locked yesterday. Had to get pushed off the freeway then started right up once I got it home. It also started “pinging”, for the first time…..ever. (stock L-jet)
I figure it couldn't hurt to check for a cooling obstruction under the tin and spray off any gunk from the oil cooler. It’s a start. I have also new engine tin seals to install. Those should help too.

It can be done for some of it.....but best to pull the motor.

It's a 914 rite of passage....

Do not fear an engine drop -- It's a prerequisite for being a full-fledged non-club member.
