914World.com _ 914World Garage _ IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR

Posted by: SLITS Sep 14 2006, 04:49 PM

Ok, all you people with money (if you don't have any ignore this). Glenn & I have come to the agreement to schedule the next installment of the G & R All 914 Rusty Parts Swap Meet and Animal Flesh Roasting Festival on October 29, 2006.

As usual, we will be cooking Bugers (self picked or we will supply) & Smoked Turd Steak (straight from the bowels of jalapeno fed animals) along with deep fried greased & salted Tubers ( potato chips to the unknowing), Tuber w/ pickled cucumber, onion & sauce (otherwise known as potato salad), maybe fried dough w/sugar and liquid caffine in the AM. Imbidements will be limited to clear & brown colored sugar water.

A "donation" of $5.00 per person is graciously accepted if you want to chew ( otherwise, go suck an egg ).

A schedule of events will be posted if I ever deem it interesting enough to do so.

Tijuana style swap meet will begin at 8 AM ...... yes, that's AM not PM ... no need to bring a flashlight (unless you plan on laying on your back and looking up kilts and skirts) to spot parts and then find out in the sunlight that they are rusted beyond repair. Gates will be open approximatly 6:30 AM for you vicious vendors.

Animal Flesh Roasting Festival will begin somewhere around 10 AM or when I damn well decide to light the burners.

The whole thing will be over when we get tired of hearing your recycled tales of 914 heroism.

The place is as last year 2727 Kansas Ave, Riverside, CA 92507 .... if you weren't here last year, Ill get around to posting directions and phone contact numbers someday. If you are able to find it without help...you win a prize....HOWIE will blow you a kiss.

Oh, one last thing ..... We would appreciate it if you males bring female companions as we get real tired of looking a your ugly mugs and besides they smell better and eat less.

Directions:

From Las Vegas: I-15 to I-215 through San Bernardino. 1/2 mile prior to 60 Frwy is the Columbia exit. Get off at Columbia and at the light make a left over the freeway. 2 stoplights later is Chicago .. turn right. Next signal is Spruce ... turn right, go under freeway and look for a sign that says Kansas. You will make a left, then right at the stop and then left at the next stop ... you will be on Kansas (you are going around Howard Industries as Kansas is blocked off at Spruce). Look for the open gate on your right at 2727 Kansas Ave.

From San Fernando Valley & North ... Take 210 Frwy to the 15 Frwy. Go South on the 15 to the 60. Go east on the 60 to Main Street in Riverside. Get off, turn right. At next signal turn left on Spruce Street. Go 2 stop signs ... go over Frwy on bridge and thru two signals. Look for sign on right that says Kansas Ave. Make a right, then left at stop sign and left at second stop sign (You just went around Howard Industries). You are on Kansas. Look on right side for open gate at 2727 Kansas Ave.

From San Diego ... I-15 to I-215 (at Temecula) to I-60 (Moreno Valley / Sunnymead). I-60 West to Riverside. As you are coming down the hill, get off at University Ave. Turn right and go approximately 4 signals to Kansas Ave. Turn right. Go thru ghetto neighborhood (one stop sign) and thru the next signal (3rd Street). After crossing 3rd Street, go across RR tracks and look immediately to your left for open Gate (2727 Kansas Ave).

From the Beaches & Costa Mesa .. Take the 91 Frwy East all the way to Riverside. Just prior to the 60 Frwy, they completed a new Spruce Street / 60 East off ramp. Get off on this ramp, read signs for Spruce Street. At Signal (Spruce St.), turn right. Go thru next signal and look for a sign that says Kansas. Turn right, then another right then a left (You are going around Howard Industries). Look to your right for the open gate @ 2727 Kansas Ave.

Recieved a phone call from Bruce Stone .... wanted to know where this thread disappeared to. If any of the Admins would like to stick it, please do so.

His further comment is that he would like to know what parts people may be looking for so he doesn't bring a bunch of stuff that he has to haul back. Well folks, you can add your requests here I suppose.

So, it is now bumped back to the top for a while as he told some newbies about the swap and they were looking for the thread.

Directions / contact numbers to the party will be disclosed at a later date.

Take any of the major freeways in Southern California East. When you see cows, you know you're close. When it starts to smell, you'll know you're even closer.
Exit the freeway somewhere in "The Hood" and follow the smoke signals in. Your contact number should be 911 in case you get into trouble. biggrin.gif

Talked to my boss this week about the B-B-Q.

Any chance we can give some sort of repair away in raffle form?

Carb tuning + Oil Change + Valve Adjust maybe?

I'll ask him again this week, I think he might be showing up too.

Hey Brando, Jay is welcome to offer up a certificate for a free mini tune-up, oil change or whatever. Not sure how we'd conduct the raffle though. Better yet, maybe we could sell raffle tickets & donate the money to charity. Thoughts/ideas on this are welcome. Jay did show up for the last swap....

Hey-
someone mentioned earlier about starting a WTB list for the garage sale. This thread seems a little long to search through for vendors to watch a WTB list, can we start one somewhere else that's more visible?

Anyway- here goes my list.

*Tan interior parts (seat cushions and carpet pieces) headbang.gif
*Right rear tailight lense alfred.gif
*right front parking light lense (little round one)
*4 Michelin tires, hopefully between 185-205 and in ok shape (other brands considered as well) burnout.gif
*fiberglass bumperettes (top parts front and rear)- or original bumper tops in good shape at decent price
*fuel line hoses- new poke.gif
*brake lines, stainless or rubber- newish
*rubber seals, especially for under door
*chrome 914 number thing for trunk
*trunk lock tumbler
*rear wheel bearings
*bushings- all sorts (sway bar, ect.) sheeplove.gif
*rear trunk carpet
*new firewall padding stuff, aftermarket ph34r.gif
*passenger side stainless steel mirror (could use drivers side if need be)
*chrome front bumper, doesn't need to be concourse, just decently priced cool_shades.gif

Ok, well I may not be able to afford all of this all at once, but I doubt I will find it all at the same time either. PM me to talk.

Really, Ron, it was tough. Visit the topless beaches in Nice and drive the Monaco streets used in the GP or go to Riverside. Please don't cancel the event, you can kiss my KMA.gif (ring) another time. happy11.gif poke.gif

I'm coming. I have lots of parts to sell. I also have 2 2.0 engines, one assembled and of unkown condition from a 912E and the other was freshly rebuilt but had a cam/lifter meltdown within 100 miles (nice fresh 2.0 heads). I will bring them if there is any interest. Otherwise, I have tons of 914 stuff (distributors, MAPs, injection stuff, glass, etc).

Look forward to seeing everyone again!

Bar of soap in the mail. If I have to kiss it, you gotta wash it. finger.gif

Oh, there is a F car with special tranny waiting for you to purchase when you get back.

Oh, remember the only word they understand is "Surrender".

Hi Tony ...... bring the 4 cylinder ass-dragger crowd with you.

If anyone has the raised hex 914 tranny plugs .... I have had a request for about 20 of them.

Special Note: Our intended menu for the Flesh Roast has changed. Originally, there was going to be a sponsor so we were going to serve Bacon wrapped Filet Minon seared in Pinot Noir, Main Lobster Tail with drawn butter, accompanied by a Vinegarette Salad, natural brown rice or Potates Au Gratin and Baked Alaska for the finishing touch. Beverage was a wonderful Cabernet.

Due to the pull out of the sponsor, the menu will be limited to Breast of Spotted Owl, Mountain Oysters with Bull Sauce accompained by Galapogos Turtle Egg Soup and Bake's 1/2 pound French Frys. Beverage is slated as double filtered Santa Ana River wastewater.

Serving Breast of Spotted Owl without Snail Darter glaze is a food faux pas. Don't you know anything? rolleyes.gif

I have some factory tan carpet pieces and a brand new right side marker housing with lens and a lens for the left side too in good shape. I most likely have the rear lenses also and will be bringing all that stuff with me out there along with other stuff that I might have that people are looking for. Post it up and if I have it, Jared and I will bring it out with us.
