914World.com _ 914World Garage _ what the heck is this part?

Posted by: double-a Oct 28 2003, 06:47 PM

i'm new to all this 914 parts stuff, and i'm stumped with this one. what the heck is this part? what is its function? i found it under the passenger seat rail. it appears to be a plug or fastener of some kind, and has the word 'tenax' and a 'ghe' logo stamped on it. it's about the diameter of a nickel i guess.

Something someone dropped...was there any spare change there too?

Dosen't look like any 914 part I've taken off any of my cars. confused24.gif

It's the left innucleonic monotonator.

Mine runs fine without it.

it didn't really look like a part from a 914 to me either, but i had to ask, being new to this as i am. no spare change unfortunately.

Aaron hang onto that I will get it back from you next time I see you. It is a Tenax fastener. It holds tonneau covers or cabriolet tops onto the body.

As soon as I hit the "add reply" button, I thought to myself that you'd be the first one to reply.

No, no, no.

That is the calibration knob from an oscillation overthruster!

Posted by: tdgray Oct 29 2003, 10:54 AM

Isn't that the knob that manually adjusts the Turbo boost? laugh.gif

'Cause everyone knows that you can't turbo a 914 without that knob. w00t.gif

Yeah I'm a newbie but I can catch on fast sometimes.

if it doesn't have any rust on it... it's probably
not from a 914

It is the same snap that holds down the Tonneau cover on my cabriolet....looks like it's been whoring around..... mueba.gif

BTW Those things ain't cheap....

So he's got one of those "limited edition" targa tops that snap on instead of latch on. Cool! w00t.gif
