I'm going to join in...
914's at 7477 ft. Snow cresting Soldier Summit on the way to the event.
A bevy of teeners invade the "Needles Overlook" in southern UT. We were met with some bazaar weather this trip. The hotel desk clerk said she hadn't seen it like that in 40 years. It was in the mid-sixties vs. the mid-eighties. Very unseasonale... good for air-cooled cars.
The rain and the weather turned out to be a blessing in some regards. We got some awesome views from the top of the overlook (looking South).

Here's Dave (Draperjojo) enjoying the view of the Colorado River from the lookout on Day 1.
Saturday nights entertainment,, plus 2 kegs of beer, Irish Whiskey, Scotch,, etc....it was a hellva time, can't wait till next year.

Here's a good parking lot shot at the Needles Overlook... a lot of teeners still missing in action at this point. Once we get the festivities started on Saturday there will be 39 teeners in attendance.
Saturday AM marks the 914 "Rise-and-Shine" car show. Here's Kelly's impressive -4:
Here's Jim's (StratPlayer) beauty
Thomas made it with the Eggplant...
Lovely Linda's ride...
McBurger saving the day on Dave's car
About 50 miles out of Moab Dave's immaculate "Time Capsule" started making funny "dropped valve seat/exhaust leak" noises. He limped to the hotel and put on a really bummed face. The next morning Mark came to the rescue by pulling the valve cover and finding an adjuster screw had worked it's way loose. It was a little worn but still very usable and in what seemed like 10 minutes, Dave was grinning from ear to ear and running on the Arches drive.
Did we mention that it's the people not the cars?
Way-ta-go Mark...
The Aaron-mobile:
He came up behind me coming back from the awards dinner and he had those damn lights on,,, I could see him coming up on me and then it was like 40 welding arcs in my rear window and mirrors. I had to duck my head to keep the light from the mirrors from blinding me. He passed me, then I see the walls of the canyon lighting up in front of me and the light is moving down the canyon. His left blaster light got tilted up and to the left from wind,, he was lighting up the canyons walls as he was driving down the canyon along the colorado river,,, it was a sight to behold.
Let the celebration begin. Saturday morning and the staging for the Arches NP trip. Teeners stretch all the way to the white sign in the distance. We even had an awesome 968 from the land of enchantment join in... great car.
It was kinda difficult getting this picture as SLITS was dry humping me (Brant will post the picture I'm sure...)
The Shea's enjoying the "Park Avenue" overlook...
Here's the Birthday-Girl Nikki...
...and her big sister Laura.
Thanks again to everyone for putting up with the girls on this trip. They had so much fun and, as they get older, they become more and more engaged (for better or worse)
How many 914's can you fit in a overlook parking lot? 30 plus a few air-conditioned support vehicles

Minor correction.
Dave pulled the valve cover and found the problem. SirAndy fished around and found the adjuster screw and the lock nut, and I put it back together. It was a team effort. It was great to be able to enact a quick fix and get Dave back into the event.
I have pictures too, but after 1000 miles and 13 hours in the car, it's bed time.
wow - there are lots of *really* nice and impressive photos
seems that you had big fun and a great time
the only thing that would scare me off is to drive my teener through the snow

The run that we had through Arches Park, all the cars had yellow ribbons on them with lapuwali written on the ribbon in honor of James.
Great Story:
While in Arches National Park, the group pulled into one of the parking lots for viewing the scenery. I noticed an older gentlemen talking to my wife and then I hear my wife say, "you should talk to my husband". The gentlemen then turns to me and started asking me about all these cars.. He had an ancent as well.
Turns out the older gentlemen and his wife were both from Stuggart. He asked if porsche had made this model car for the american market only, he told me he had never seen this car before. I was amazed that him and his wife never seen the 914 before... Then he started taking pictures of all the cars and commented how nice they were.
There must not be many 914s in Europe.

Aaron, I had a really wonderful time at the RRC. I'll remember our drive out of the park for as long as I live.
Jason and Ernie, thanks for caravaning with me. You both treated me really nice for a couple of fellow Zonies who had never met me before! Let's do it again next year.
Looks like you all had a great time. Thanks for sharing the memories.

And now...
How we saved Howards car!
It was late on Sat. night. And most everyone had gone to bed. We were having a final beer, and all of a sudden we noticed that Howard's car was rolling out of the parking lot. The guys panicked, but the girls jumped right into action and tried to stop the car.
Unfortunately, the girls weren't able to stop the car. So the five of us worked together and were finally able to stop the car but sitting on the rear trunk.
Luckly, it worked!

brian - why all the quality loss on resizing your pics?
there is a great resizing program in teh FAQ section tab at the top of the page.
Greg, it would have been more helpful to say:
"Brian, try switching the resolution on your camera from -Parking Lot Security Mode- over to -Still Not As Good As My Camera Phone Mode- or higher."
you have a way with words steve, don't you

Attached image(s)
Just a little edit .....
You guys crack me up. Upon arriving to Moab we caught everyone just as they were lining up for the drive, so we didn't even get out of the car and gave chase. Upon arriving at the first stop and talking to Greg I made the now infamous comment "I thought your car was nicer". I was about 300ft away from his car at the time, and that was the closest I had ever been to it.
Sooooo...... while it was funny, it really wasn't a reflection on Greg's VERY VERY NICE car.
and now i have a complex
thanks steve
oh, and steve, of the 11 914's you own, how many did you bring to RRC this year?
Gregor, what are you teaching this poor little girl?
Attached image(s)
no more hanging out at Camp Uncle Howie, that's for sure.
She didn't learn the club salute from me
Hun, wave to Daddy.
Attached image(s)
Face it ..... anybody who tows their car to within 30 miles of the "happening", takes it off the trailer to drive it in is a POSER and gets the bashing he deserves .......
Luckily, he wasn't a two timePOSER as he actually put it back on the trailer in the parking lot.
Pretty nice car Greg .....
Trojanman makes note to himself:
Self, make sure to wipe the camera lens of fingerprints before taking pictures.
A friend had a camera that had a light leak one time when we went to Moab. It actually made the pictures pretty trippy.
Okay, here are a few pictures:
Here is my new clutch cable getting a ride to Farnmington:
Here is my pit crew fixin' me up, Casey, Liz(Turtle Girl), and Joe(Series9).
They didn't let me do it, faster for them, I guess, we were hungry!
Notice Joe's got a death grip onthe beer?
Here's the parking lot in Farmington, two 6's, my poor little 4, an Alfa Giulietta
Spider in the garage, and an Alfa sedan in the driveway.
(The two 6's were dead, the Spider is in process, and the sedan was the rescue vehicle!)
Oh yeah, the van on the left was the tow vehicle!
The trailer could carry at least 3 914's!
Ohhhhhh that's "Greg's" car.
(I thought it would have been a little nicer than that...)
thanks for the pics shar
i put one in my avatar already
hey eric...................you know what comes next.......
Yeah, yeah... you're gonna send me pictures of Autumn
