914World.com _ 914World Garage _ CAD Model of Type IV Engine?

Posted by: Brian Mifsud Sep 30 2006, 10:18 AM

I am looking for a CAD model of the Type IV longblock. Would save lots of time for some analysis I'll be doing. I realize that will probably be as rare as hen's teeth.

Otherwise, has anyone in San Diego (or "Southern LA) area have an engine I can borrow for about a month to do all the measurements and CAD myself?

I'd also like to borrow one of the Engine Cooling Fans.

Thanks

Brian

someone on STF is looking for them as well.....don't know if he found them yet but this picture was posted which might help a little...by the way, I had some stuff CMM'd last week for work, 2 hour minimum, it took them about 20 minutes...I wish I had brought some 914 parts for them to get accurate measurements on..it would have been free to me biggrin.gif

I have better quality scans, I needed to reduce these to fit

Hey Mike,

Well, that's a start. I can at least start modeling the general layout, and get specific measurements later.

That snorkel on the fan intake makes this a 411 engine?

Thanks

Brian,

I have spares of all the major parts -- case, jugs, heads, fans, shrouds, etc.
