If I drive the same speed on the same road and tune to get 250-375 in the flat going 75 i'm good?

I get the black dial gear thing, and how it adjusts the slope of that logarythmic function thing, but adjusting the idle CO mix seems to affect part-cruise settings...

I keep chasing my tail on that.

Get a wide band A/F meter. you can infinately tune your car.
CHT will not give you much info.
EGT can be a helpfull tool tuning WOT. you would be amazed at how different each cylinder runs. Lots pf power hiding there.

I now rent out the LM-1 wideband AFR kit through the Type 4 Store..

Tuning with CHT isn't that effective..

EGT is the mega tuning tool, not just for enrichment, but also for optimizing timing..

I've written about this before, but I installed a potentiometer in place of the
CHT in an L-Jet. I used a 5k pot beciause I had one, and I can adjust it as I
drive.

I use the CHT gauge to set it. I have found that at sea level where I live,about
1,8 k ohms gives a running temperature of 370 degrees +/-. Lower resistance
seems to produce a lot more heat. I do have holes in my engine tin, no heater
hoses, and a cutout on the starboard side for the non-existent AC compressor.

The car is quite senstive to the resistance. I theorize that I am adjusting the
mixture, lower resistance is leaner. I do not have an AFR but I think I'd put one
in a new engine, if I can afford to build one.

I'd love to know what I am actually adjusting!
