914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Brakes are squeakin'

Posted by: MW 914 Nov 9 2006, 08:46 AM

My rear brakes are pretty noisy these days. Has anyone tried the stuff you put on the back of the pads to eliminate the vibration?

I have Porterfield pads(I forget which ones...)if that makes a difference.

I haven't had teener squekin brakes, but I've use that stuff successfully on other cars.

I've used it and sometimes it would work and others it wouldn't.

I had a real noisy rear brake and ended up putting a little dab of rtv between the pad and piston.

Shut it right up.

Tes the little packet of blues stuff you get over the counter at FLAPS works pretty good

However Porterfield R4 or R4S ?
R4 will squeal like cheap whore when cold.

I am not having problems with my rears however Derek Kim has mentioned he has problems squeeking on one of his rear R4S pads.

Inherent problem with stock brakes is you never get real agressive braking out back so the pads can glaze a bit.

Solution is to pull the pad put a piece of sand paper on a piece of glass and knock off the "shiny" from the pad.

R4S's actually. I'll try your suggestions. Thanks!
