OK dumb question. I got the rear sway bar unbolted
finally from the chassis, was is the correct way to get
the drop link off from the bottom of the shock?? Does
it just pop off??

yes.

Don't forget to save the ball end from the shock mounts.

use a "pickle fork"

the ball ends are part of the lower shock bolts, just unbolt em and pull 'em out.

watchout for the wheels drooping when you do. If you don't need them on the car take 'em off.

now would be a good time to remove the whole rear suspension.

All I want is the sway bar & hardware cool.gif everything else is
scrap. I relly don't want to mess with the suspension.

take it out anyways. there could be some hidden treasure in there wink.gif
like, a whole stack of alignement shims, or adjusteable shocks, or unbent trailing arms.

sell (or give it to me for free smile.gif ) every little piece of it that's not rusted ...

Garold, assuming this is an otherwise stock LE (rust & re-paint notwithstanding) It would be interesting to note: Rear shocks- Make, Front strut housing & inserts- make?

OK how do you tell for sure that the trailing arms are not bent?
They look ok, I haven't taken them off yet, just wondering.

Also Do I need to compress the spring on the shock before
I remove it or can it be removed as one complete piece?

as for the trailing arms, ask brad wink.gif

if you're asking if you need to compress the spring to remove the shock from the chassis, NO.

if you're asking if you need to compress the spring to remove the spring from the shock, MAYBE.
if the springs anywhere near stock, you'll be able to compress them by hand if needed.
usually, when you unbolt them, you'll notice than there's no pressure on the nut for the last few threads anyways.
as always, point them away from you, just in case ...
