914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Camshaft upgrade - Any good..? Quick replies if pos!

Posted by: fall-apart-dave Nov 15 2006, 02:51 PM

Firstly, check out item number 250048262442 on ebay...

Right, now you've looked at that, can anyone tell me if it is worth purchasing for my 1.7 914 lump thats in ma bug (running twin 44mm carbs). If it is a worthy upgrade, what else would I need to fit it ie new followers etc? Or will she just go right on in?

Cheers DUDES!

Dave

You NEED to know who made the cam. Followers must be matched to the cam. If you're not 100% sure, you're playing with a possible flat cam.

Decided not to bother with it... The part was bought from Budapest on a market somewhere, they don't know the manufacturer, there are no stamps or marks on it, and they don't know anything about it what so ever. BAD idea buying that, methinks!

Go to the Type IV store and get what ever cam you want.

Skipping it was probably a good choice. wink.gif
