914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Removing 18yrs of dirt from interior

Posted by: itsa914 Nov 12 2003, 12:50 PM

Working on cleaning some interior parts during lunch (I work
from home cool.gif ). What's the best way to get 18yrs of dirt off.
I am working on the seats, they look to be in great shape.
Anything else besides soap & water?

No soap and water on vinyl. Use a good cleaner made for vinyll or leather

I used a power washer. Cleaned 15 yrs of crap off the 72's interior. Just don't hold the wand too close.

Citrus cleaner also works. When I bought my vinyl dying kit, they included some concentrate special cleaner. It was just concentrated citrus cleaner!!!

Use Oxi-scrub on carpets. put them in the tub after you hosed them off and let them soak in oxi-scrub. Made my carpets look like new.

I used a mild solution of Simple Green and water for the headliner on my air-cooled VW and -- holy shit Batman! -- it did a great job of cleaning and brightening it smile.gif When I was done the headliner looked brand new (except for the small gashes from a snowboard one of my college friends made many moons ago. mad.gif )
