more stuff added to the 914Info section,
straight out of the "Das große VW-Porsche Buch", please let me know if you have any additional/conflicting numbers/info ...

http://www.914world.com/specs/productionnumbers.php

NOTE: the book DOES NOT list any cars produced in 1976, it seems like all '76 cars were actually manufactured in '75. anyone here who can confirm this?

later,
Andy

Andy,

Thanks for posting the data!! The numbers seem a little low. I thought I had seen some on the old Renegade board that were a little higher. Do you know if these are US or EURO cars or both?

Thanks again..

according to the book, that's total.

they didn't brake it down into where they were shipping them afterwards, just the manufacturing numbers ...

This will be fun...
You mention 1969... but those were MODELyear 1970
That's why none were build in '76... they're all late 1975 (and thus modelyear 1976)

AFAIK, the modelyear changes in october
Now it will be fun mix and match #'s that were actually build within a year (january through december) or how many were build for that modelyear (which would have the corresponding VIN#)

Here's the listing from the Brian Long book...

1970 model year - 914/4 - 13.312
1970 model year - 914/6 - 2.657

1971 model year - 914/4 - 16.231
1971 model year - 914/6 - 432

1972 model year - 914/4 - 21.580
1972 model year - 914/6 - 229

1973 model year - 914/4 - 27.660

1974 model year - 914/4 - 21.370

1975 model year - 914/4 - 11.369

1976 model year - 914/4 - 4.075

total /4 115.597
total /6 3.318

grand total 118.915

The totals are pretty close, but look how the #'s per year differ biggrin.gif

cheers,

Jeroen
(will check the Johnson book when I find it...)

Yes on the 75s are 76 cars.... just like the Braz. aubergine car being a 74 model year car, with 75 US features.

The model year started in August. I have data on several cars built in August that were in the next model year (73, 74 & 75). Over 2000 cars in Aug 72 were 73 models.

If I recall, mine was made in 12/75. Vin # 4063
I was told all the bodies were made then the car was assembled totally later. Remember the VW started to make the water pumper cars.
